Disney Animation

I got to watch The Princess and the Frog for the first time yesterday. What a great movie! The music and story are entertaining, but the highlight of the film is the gorgeous animation.

Though movies like Bolt and Tangled are great too, Disney truly shines when it sticks to traditional 2-D animation. Unfortunately, I don't think kids are as entertained by this old style of animation as much as they used to be. This is why Walt Disney Animation Studios doesn't release movies like The Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh as often as they used to. Computer animation just tends to be more popular.

I hope Disney continues to release more traditionally animated films. I like the pattern of the last few years, where they alternate each year between computer and hand drawn animated movies. This year we get the computer animated Wreck-It Ralph. I can only hope we get a 2-D animated film next year, but it seems they already have another computer animated one in the works.

I agree with you there; my siblings and I loved 2-D, and not computer animation very much, what little of it there was. But now all the children I care for, in daycare and in home, love any computer animated movie and aren't very keen on 2-D. Not sure why, but I hope Disney makes some more 2-D films in the future, anyway.

Agreed as well. Traditional animation has unfortunately been placed in the backseat. It's a shame too because there are a lot of Computer Animated films that are considered amazing, and I agree. But there were a ton of 2-D films that were just as good, even better and they seem to have been forgotten by younger kids. =/ I mean, kids don't know of, or care too watch, say, The Iron Giant or something...

Both 2D and 3D animation have their places, in my opinion. However, it seems hard to make 3D animation as charming as good 2D animation is.
