First Thoughts on Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Toa Smoke Monster posted a blog entry in The Island
So I got Metroid Prime: Federation Force yesterday, and got some time to play it today. I only made it through the tutorial mode and a practice match of Blast Ball with an AI opponent. Overall, I really enjoyed what I've played so far. While the look of the game is different from that of the previous entries in the series, I still think it looks great. I look forward to seeing what the planets look like when I get to them on the campaign missions. The controls also work really well. The are simple enough. (Press A to fire your weapon, press B to jump, etc.) The only thing I had a little trouble with was toggling your aiming module while you're locked onto a target. Once you've locked on, you press R and move the 3DS around to move the module to fire on your target. It's kind of odd IMO, but it probably is for me because I'm not use to it yet. I'll see how it holds up once I start doing the missions. They give you some options for words your character can say to other players with the control pad. You can also choose a male or female voice and range how high or low the voice is, which I thought was really neat. As for the practice match of Blast Ball, I had a lot of fun with it. I have a ways to go before I'm good at it though. But still, I enjoyed it and I look forward to playing against other players when the time comes. There was one other thing about this game I want to mention, but I'm putting it in spoiler tags since it involves the game's story. Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled. So has anyone else gotten the game yet? If you have, what do you think of it?- 2 comments

It's been a long time since fans of the Metroid series have gotten a new game in this franchise. That ends this month with the release of Metroid Prime: Federation Force. It's hard to believe that we are actually just a couple weeks away from its release. It still feels like its months away to me. I really hope the game is good. I know that there are some fans who think that this game will be bad, and they could be right. But I'm going to play it myself and make my own judgments on it. For all we know, it could be one of the best entries into the Metroid series. I guess we'll find that out when the game is released August 19.

Metroid Prime Federation Force: Project Golem Trailer
Toa Smoke Monster posted a blog entry in The Island
Since I'm posting some Metroid-related stuff on my blog for the theme's 30th anniversary, I'd thought I would post this here and give you all my thoughts on it. 1. I like that it mentions Samus's fight against Phazon. From the way it sounds, it looks like this game's story takes place after Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Though that's just a guess on my part. 2. I really like how the game looks. It definitely has the 'Metroid' feel IMO. 3. From watching some of the game play, I kind of get Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes vibes. In that you could play the game in single player, but could also do it in multiplayer. I don't know if that is true, since what I know about the game is solely based on this trailer and the announcement trailer from E3 2015. But it does look like that is what going to be in this game from what I'm seeing. 4. Federation soldiers using mech suits in battles. That alone makes this game cooler to me. 5. And finally, those Space Pirates look great. They really have the 'Metroid Prime' feel going for them. Overall, I actually looking forward to this game. Is it the Metroid game I was expecting to see after Other M? No. But I'm willing to give this game a shot, and I hope other Metroid fans do as well. Who knows? Maybe this could be a great entry into the franchise. We'll see when it comes out.
