1. Title tells the whole story. Join it here. Play it here. Discuss it here.
2. Because people seem to be confused about my RPG entry, I want to clear up a quick couple of things. The tournament won't pull in everyone, nor am I making everyone enter it. It is stated two or three times in the submission that participation in the Day Run is optional. It is not the main focus this time around -- as players of Night Ride and ROTR should note, the fact that I am telling you this straight up should mean something. Yes, it's a big part, but it's not the be all, end all of the RPG -- the Ring, the KNPD and the Civilians are going to play just as large, if not a bigger role than the Day Run itself will. Heck, essentially the only role the tournament serves in being present is to establish a link between NR and DR (plus because I want to use my tournament games more (and no, that does not mean I don't have story plans for them -- I do; a couple of rather big ones, actually...)) That being clear: The Credits will not affect everyone. I'm anticipating that only about half of the player characters are participating in the tournament at all. That means that only about half of the player characters are going to be paying any amount of attention to the credits. You realize what that means straight off the bat, right? There is not a complicated number system in the RPG. The credits are a set of digital numbers to help keep track of places in the tournament -- nothing more. You don't use them as currency. You don't mug people for them. You don't exchange them for anything. They are not physical objects. They do not get you rewards. Need I say more? The fact of the matter is that the credits don't do anything. You don't need to worry about them, at least OOCly and especially if none of your characters are participating in the tournament. You also don't need to keep track of them. I will be doing that; that is my job as the GM. Despite what you think, they won't affect game play in the slightest, aside from: Even thinking the opposite of the above, the Credits make sense ICly, to your characters. Have you ever participated in a tournament of any kind, or watched/played a sport, or played Pacman? Because the Credits here, through your character's point of view, are the equivalent of the points in a Halo tournament, or a baseball game, or in a game of Pacman. They may not necessarily mean anything from an outsider's view, but from the view of the one earning them, they are important. Your character's most likely going to be driven to gain more of these through Day Run events so as to win the tournament, same as you are driven to keep up that game of Pacman. With only a week left before voting, I hope that clears things up for people. :3

It's Done

The Garden has been submitted. Now, with any luck, I'll win and we can avoid another dual GM-disappearance for this next batch of RPGs. :/ No offense to anyone intended. But... now what? I'm all out of salsa and ROTR has slowed to a halt! ><
4. Alright; here's the semi-final draft for Day Run: The Garden. I'll be submitting it on Saturday. If you have any other suggestions or comments, speak now or forever hold your peace... until you get to the review topic. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Day Run: The Garden “Greed? Greed drives us all – I can assure you of that. It can be observed anywhere you look – a merchant’s greed drives him to sell useless items to passerby; a congressman sells his ideas in an attempt to gain power over his nation; and in this case, a gambler threatens civilians to try and expand his empire as much as he can. Fortunately, he does not hear the bells that toll in the distance…” ~Unknown Darkness lay all around, everywhere that it could touch. On the ceiling, on the floor, clinging to the walls and the stones littered about the cavern. They engulfed all, sticking to the various surfaces like parasites unwilling to part from their host. The air was still and cold, stagnant winds that had been trapped long ago. All was dark, and were it not for the sounds of something sliding, slithering about the room, it would be silent. The creature coiled, coming to rest around a patch of stone. All was still. Whispers spoken in a language long forgotten emanated from nothingness. The sounds reverberated off of the walls, uncaught, unheard by living ears. Something fell from the nearest wall, landing softly on the ground. It shuffled slowly towards the vine; all around the cavern, more creatures were falling, landing without a sound, moving as one towards the center of the room. They whispered, though they did not speak to one another; one word escaped their tainted lips. They breathed it out, chanting softly at first, though gradually growing in intensity. “Rhashahk…” An orb of darkness appeared in the center of the coiled creature. Laces of shadow broke off now and then as it started to spin; as it continued to grow in size, the orb became more stable, until nothing broke away from it. “Rhashahk!” The orb swirled, stretching upward. It solidified moments later, transforming into a flower not yet bloomed… “Rhashahk! Rhashahk!” As the creatures edged nearer, the flower blossomed. Its petals were a bright red, shining through the darkness despite the lack of light. A much smaller ring of red hovered above it. The plant gave a shudder, two leaves sprouting from its stem. “RHASHAHK! RASHAHK!” The leaves turned, revealing their bottoms to be that same, eerie red color. They seemed to glow; a hiss sounded from the flower, and the creatures were silenced. The leaves, now very much like a pair of eyes, blinked, weariness evident in them. They closed, and the cavern was thrown back into darkness. “All right; I’ll make one last offer, Kerid: Forty thousand, plus information on how to get into the Kai-Nam labs,” the Toa of Sonics offered, standing up so quickly that his chair toppled over. The Steltian he addressed paid no heed, instead simply continuing to watch the events below. “Come on – that’s more than enough to compensate you for what it took to build this dump, and you could do so much more with it, too!” “They’re quite skilled, aren’t they?” Kerid asked, as far below Zanth’s mecha dodged an energy blast from a member of the opposing team, only to retaliate with a shot of electricity to their front wheel. It was obvious that she was ignoring him. “I’ve always admired the effort they put into making a performance entertaining; yet even with a job like yours and mine, you never get used to watching it…” “You’re stalling; knock it off before I really get mad,” the Toa said spitefully. “I’ve offered you so much more than this place is worth – why won’t you take it?” Kerid shifted in her seat, barely turning her armored head to look at the Toa. Despite her glare, he did not back off, though uncertainty was evident in his face. The Day Run organizer considered the Toa for a moment. Ever since the relocation and rechristening of the Day Run (formerly the Night Run while it had been under the control of Makuta Jaeda) on Kai-Nam, this particular crime lord had attempted to get Kerid to sell it to him – for what purpose she could not guess, though she assumed that it had to do with her interference of his trading operations as well as the fact that they had essentially stolen ground from his gang. While she could see why he was angry, she was not going to back down – if anything, she loved it here, considering that the Day Run had done nothing but help the local authorities apprehend dozens of criminals since its formation. “If you had been on Gynel a year ago, Lyxek, and witnessed the horrors of that place, then you would understand,” she said simply, turning her attention back to the battle below. “Unfortunately you weren’t. A shame if ever there was one – you would have been a perfect host for the Feranaki – they loved greed…” Lyxek fumed at this. “This is your last chance, Kerid.” “And you have my answer. Now get out of my sight before I decide to include you in this match.” The Toa growled, swiping his cape and hat out of his seat. He covered his face with the rim of the latter as he clipped the former onto himself. “You’re going to regret that decision soon enough...” With a menacing flash of his eyes, he left, his cape swirling behind him as a cloud of foreboding passed unheeded over Kerid. The large cruise ship cut swiftly through the icy waters around Kai-Nam, mist clinging to its hull as it moved. Once upon a time such a ship would have been met with relatively clear waters; these days, however, things had changed. A dull, creaking noise cut through the air all around the ship as its engines were put on standby, bringing it to a slow, steady halt. A much smaller skiff hurried through the mist towards it. A black and white Matoran wearing a silver helmet watched its approach from the deck, curiosity evident in his good eye as the skiff came to a halt next to a ladder under the spot where an exit ramp would normally be, magnetically locking on to the boat. Six figures exited the skiff, beginning the climb up; the Matoran narrowed his eyes. "Security checks vere never required before," he said quietly, noting the beings all seated around him; though he had no reason to be suspicious of any of them, he did not trust a single one -- something that, as a bounty hunter, he had learned the hard way. "I'm sure their intentions are good," a voice said within his head, emanating from an AI currently residing in his armor. "They are police, after all." The Matoran scoffed at this. He remembered the last time he had been to his home island, a pair of corrupt police officers had tried to destroy him for taking out one of their own -- after that same officer had tried to take a share of stolen material for himself, as well as attempted to blow up a factory with the Matoran inside. Needless to say, he had escaped -- though not without a new distrust for the group of "heroes" that had come to his island in his absence. "Police don't attempt to kill you for helping zhem," the Matoran replied, shifting as the ship roared into movement again. "Vregardless, giving our past experiences vith zhem... not to mention ze Vring... I'm more vorried about ze island zhan myself, Illuxio. And if zhey give me vreason to, I'll be sure to take zhem out." "And I'll be sure to help you, Elithes," the AI assured. "But for now, let's just concentrate on the tournament -- I'm sure we'll get plenty of opportunity to fight both the KNPD and the Ring in there. Besides, I've heard the Day Run is going to be extra fun this time around..." Playing the Game Story in Brief It has been a year since the Night Run’s sixth tournament. In that time, the Pha-Matoran – Matoran of Ectoplasm – who inhabited Gynel have found a new home, having been rescued from that nightmarish place by the Brotherhood of Makuta. Using her own wealth and Ehjoras’s negotiation skills, Kerid has secured a deal with the authorities on Kai-Nam, getting permission to establish a new tournament on their land – the Day Run, a much more relaxed version of the Night Run. At the same time, the Ring – a gang that has infested the underworld of Kai-Nam for the last decade – has gained an interest in the tournament, and their leader, Lyxek, recently began to try to buy the game off of Kerid. She refused, and now finds herself caught trying to run the tournament whilst simultaneously dealing with the Kai-Nam Police Department and both of their conflicts with the Ring. Meanwhile, other problems appear to be brewing, known to none but the most deceitful of beings… Your Job As the players in the game, your job is to – surprise, surprise – play the game! I know, shocking, right? Right? In all seriousness, though, your job is to do as you see fit – play in the Day Run’s tournament if you want; try to discover the secrets of the island; cause mayhem in the city; anything that will advance the plot. Obviously, don’t go crazy with it, but enjoy yourself – it’s a game for a reason. There are many different backgrounds you can choose from, from a KNPD officer fighting the Ring to a civilian participating in the tournament – so choose wisely, but make it interesting. So, uh, yeah… that’s about as epically as I can put it. Simply put, you play the game, and if you’re cunning enough, you play the players. My Job My biggest job in this RPG is to act as the Game Master. For those not in the “know,” this means that I will be responsible for doing a bunch of moderating duties – approving new players, keeping an eye out for unfair play and advancing my own major plot points, for instance. Luckily, I also have the privilege of playing alongside you guys – if all goes well, you will mostly see me using my own characters alongside your own, participating in the Day Run and Ring/KNPD affairs and whatnot. So… yeah. ^--^ Also, to stop conflicting times from popping up (as has happened in the past in other RPGs, where two events started up at the same time and then one of the groups said that several days had passed whilst the other was still in the exact same time frame, thus creating a paradox when they met up later,) Daytime/Nighttime won't be made official until I post something like: Generally, this shouldn't affect anything; it'll just mean that night has fallen or the sun has risen. Again, while allusions to the time may be made, night or day will not officially occur until a Game Master has said that it has. This will also pretty much only happen so as to give the in-game Day Run a working schedule. Factions For years Kai-Nam was a place of peace, where one could go to enjoy the quiet, to work on projects set to make the universe a better place. For years, the citizens of Kai-Nam were left alone, welcoming newcomers with open arms as long as they did not cause trouble or disturb other residents. That all changed a century ago, when the island experienced a series of unfortunate and unlucky events – the invasion of the Skakdi; the arrival of Toa Lyxek and the subsequent formation of the Ring; not to mention several attempted pillages by pirates. Now, the island is split – the Kai-Nam Police Department rages an ongoing battle against the Ring, a fight that does not seem like it will end any time soon, and the Ring, in turn, has set their attention on the Day Run ever since the tournament started, hoping to use it as a way to make money. In terms of game play, all of these factions are open for players, and there are few restrictions on what you can be – each group is composed of completely unique individuals, without focusing primarily on one species or another. The only guide that you must use to choose your group is your character’s moral standpoint, and even then, you have options. The Kai-Nam Police Department “Our orders are simple: Detain any who would attempt to cause chaos on Kai-Nam, be they Day Run contestants, simple citizens, lowlife scum from the Ring or even our own officers. You’ve been warned.” ~Officer Lurinost The Kai-Nam Police Department (also called the KNPD for short) had been relatively inactive up until the Skakdi invasion and the formation of the Ring, so much so that it had barely a dozen members before the first disaster struck the island. Now, however, the KNPD has grown and thrives on the land. Where once several Ko-Matoran joined together in a laughable fighting force now stands a respectable crime-fighting group consisting of many, many powerful fighters, many augmented by equipment issued to them by the dozens of labs on the island. Ruling with a velvet hand in an iron glove, they are very strict, punishing crimes committed by any – including their own officers – whilst also providing relatively benevolent rule over the city. Public approval of the KNPD is uncertain; while many approve of the group’s efforts to defeat the Ring, others question the true intentions of several officers, specifically those of Lurinost, a high ranking member of the group, and several of her partners, all of whom have been known to abuse their powers in ways that get them what they want without getting them in trouble with the higher ups. There is also the question of their leadership – no one knows or remembers how or when they managed to replace the island’s ruling council as the leaders of the city, and some fear that they will not relinquish their rule once they are no longer needed, though this remains to be seen. The KNPD’s leader, the identity of whom is unknown to anyone, assures the residents that they have nothing to fear.. The KNPD’s headquarters are located in a large, domed building in the center of the city, which is nearly impenetrable due to its heavy defenses. As a note, they are currently allied with the Day Run, so to speak, allowing them to operate in the outer ring of the island, so long as they do not cause trouble. Many officers use the tournament for entertainment in their spare time. Similar to the Night Run Guards form the previous RPG, the KNPD is a strict force, and not one that you want to fight against alone. Notable members include officers Lurinost, Sanshou and Sensha, who act as an elite team, and the Director, a mysterious entity whose identity is unknown to all but the highest ranked individuals. Their primary goal is to defeat the Ring, though how members of this group go about this is completely up to them. The Director also has several other ‘projects’ in the works, the specifics of which are unknown. The Ring “We may just be a ‘petty gang’ right now, but soon enough this whole island’s going to be begging for mercy from me – police and Day Run chumps included.” ~Ringmaster Lyxek For all the hate that they are given, the Ring could be considered nothing more than a group of gamblers – thieving, murdering, lying scumbags, but gamblers nonetheless. The Ring’s main philosophy is that luck will see them through; as many have noted, they are correct – the majority of their operations, such as the establishment of several game corners and robberies, have succeeded, something that Lyxek has made a point of attributing to his amazing luck. Out of that virtue, Lyxek and his operatives have also managed to avoid capture by the KNPD time and time again; how is not entirely known, but bribery is suspected. Ironically, were it not for the citizens and the KNPD themselves, the Ring might never have formed on Kai-Nam. Ten years ago, Lyxek came to Kai-Nam in what could be described as little more than a torn up box. After noting how they saved his life, he was eager to help defend the island and its labs from wrongdoers; however, he was continuously turned down by what he describes as corrupt individuals, and was left on the streets with no way off of the island. With nowhere else to turn to, he resorted to stealing, first money, and then equipment. Around the same time, he had taken up residence in an abandoned hotel near the outskirts of the city, and soon after he began to recruit individuals in a similar situation to his cause. Thus, the Ring was born. In that time, he has managed to acquire a rather large amount of money, set up an underground base in the Barrens, and covertly opened several game corners and such around the city. Unfortunately, this has put the Ring at extreme odds with the KNPD, which brings us to their present conflict. While not an all-out war, the Ring and KNPD conflict has resulted in mass damage to several labs due to small skirmishes between agents of both groups. This has not been helped by the Ring’s disagreement with the Day Run – Lyxek has assigned several operatives to attempt to take out Kerid and take control of the tournament, as he sees it as a great way to bring in money, though he has been unsuccessful in accomplishing this. Nevertheless, he is determined to undermine both the tournament and the KNPD, and has made passing comments about being willing to “pull all his cards” to accomplish this. The Ring is based in the Eastern Barrens, as well as the outskirts of the city. Any species, aside from Makuta (due to a low opinion of ‘such scumbag’ on the Brotherhood’s part,) are free to join. Members tend to have a liking towards fun and games, and as such several have joined the Day Run in their spare time; several operatives are there simply to try to carry out the mission of taking over the tournament. Notable members are Lyxek, the Ringmaster, and Vailian, his right-hand man; the former is usually found either in one of the Ring’s various casinos or in the Ring’s main base, a structure built into one of the nearest mountain’s base. The Ring seeks to, first and foremost, buy out or take over the Day Run so as to bring in money; their other objectives are, essentially, causing mayhem on Kai-Nam, not to mention the individual objectives of their allies. Civilians “Are you a visitor to the island, an unaffiliated, or just an ordinary being? ...Then you’re a civilian. Stay out of trouble, keep your mouth shut and, if you’re lucky, you’ll stay that way.” ~Suya The use of the term “Civilians” here is slightly misleading. One might think of civilians as residents of an area, or maybe even pawns in a game of chess, bystanders who do absolutely nothing. Yet others realize that this term can mean other things – in this case, the civilians of Kai-Nam are essentially the neutral group in the RPG. Some are normal Matoran who have lived on this island all their lives; some are beings who have come to participate in the Day Run and nothing more than that; still others seek to participate in and take advantage of the battle between the Ring and the KNPD, yet do not wish to officially join either group. Out of all the factions in this RPG, the civilians have the most options in terms of what they get to do, and yet at the same time they are also slightly limited. Civilians are not bound by the codes of either the Ring or the KNPD, yet this also means that they do not have access to either faction’s resources or base of operations (unless, of course, a meeting was arranged beforehand.) This group compensates for that by having access to the laboratories of Kai-Nam, and by extension access to… experimental weaponry – for a price. Because of how this group operates, there is no leader amongst them, nor is there a main base of operations. Still, they have the whole of Kai-Nam at their disposal, and if a small group of individual civilians wishes to do so, then they may band together and claim, say, a hotel complex or some other abandoned building as their own; heck, if they wanted to, they might even be able to start their own mini-faction… In short, the goals of individuals in this group are all over the place – Elithes and Illuxio, for instance, have taken to acting as vigilantes, while Zanth and Suya… no one knows what they’ve been up to, but it is thought that they are secretly investigating both the KNPD and the Ring. The Day Run “We’re entertainment for the masses – nothing more, nothing less. We’ll welcome you into the game regardless of your background, just as long as you don’t bring your pathetic disagreements against us with you.” ~Tournament Organizer Kerid The successor to the Night Run on Gynel, control has shifted from Makuta Jaeda to the Steltian named Kerid. Along with this change of hats came a remarkable shift in the Run’s operations: With Ehjoras’s help, Kerid has greatly relaxed the rules of the tournament, as they no longer have any great and terrible secrets to hide. Contestants are no longer executed for “trespassing,” players can come and go as they wish, and regulations have been modified. Instead of yearly tournaments, smaller tournaments are held once every six months, with the second official tournament starting soon. With these changes came the birth of the Day Run. In terms of game play, the Day Run is quite similar to the Night Run in that it focuses primarily on racing and gladiator combat. Players form teams to compete in it, and at the end of each race or arena match a prize is handed out to the group with the most members in the top five. Kerid has been particularly generous with her turn as the head of the tournament – her prizes usually consist of expensive upgrades to the vehicles owned by participants, and she has allowed virtually everyone who has asked to participate in the game – including members of the Ring, despite their leader’s threats against her. This stems from her experience as head security guard of the Night Run, realizing that mixing in heroes with villains will help keep both types of characters under control – currently, she is using this philosophy to keep KNPD officers and Ring operatives in check with each other. So far, it has worked. The Day Run is a unique group here, as it does not function as a full-blown faction for most characters. Instead, it acts as a sub group to all the rest – players join either the KNPD, the Ring or the civilians, and if they wish to participate in the Day Run, then they must simply add that to their profile. The leaders of the Day Run are Tournament Organizers Kerid and Ehjoras. They have set up the majority of their operations on the west half of the island, in the Barrens, with their race track zigzagging around the entire perimeter of Kai-Nam. The Day Run Code of Conduct “Rule number two, no sabotage – you signed the contract, you agreed to our rules. As punishment, I am officially barring you from the next two Day Run events. I’d celebrate if I was you – I could have done so much more...” ~Tournament Organizer Kerid The Day Run has fewer and more lenient regulations than those of the Night Run, and like the old tournament, players are required to abide by these regulations at all times whilst participating in an official Day Run event. These regulations are as follows: 1) By registering for the Day Run, participants take full responsibility for any injuries they may receive during their time in the tournament. While safety measures have been taken to prevent any serious injuries, the risk still stands 2) Participants in the Day Run are expected to play fairly; as such sabotage of an opponent’s equipment, including weapons, vehicles and other supplies, will result in punishment ranging from temporary banning from the tournament to permanent exile. 3) During an arena match or race, a player will be removed once they are unable to continue battle, normally after being knocked unconscious or after having their vehicle destroyed. At this point the player will be removed from the event and may not reenter. 4) Any player who breaks the above rules will immediately be removed from the tournament and barred from further entrance, unless pardoned by Tournament Organizer Kerid or Ehjoras. Vehicles “Sometimes I can’t help but marvel at what these people can come up with…” ~Sanshou The first thing many associated with the Night Run when it was active was the large amounts of vehicles and pilots who participated in it. That has not changed with the Day Run; in fact, given Kai-Nam’s reputation as one of the biggest producers of new vehicle designs, more and more beings are connecting the two together. In the year since the Night Run ended, vehicles have stayed just as reliable as ever, with new designs and upgrades being made each day. It is not uncommon to see large, Rahi-like mecha traversing the lands, or to see whole blocks cleared in any city as pilots settle disputes through vehicular combat or races – something that happens even in such sophisticated places as City. While they are large and clunky, mecha and vehicles in general are becoming more and more accepted, with fewer people classing owners of such things as ruffians. The general view of the “best model” also seems to be shifting. Though once seen as mighty, powerful and never to be messed with, Rahi mecha seem to have taken a backseat to the maneuverability, speed and overall smoother wheel-based designs as of late – motorcycles and other such things, in other words; hover boards, too, have seen a recent rise in use by smaller species, and a new, bipedal group of mecha have also begun to see action. Regardless of their differences and the preferences of individuals, all continue to thrive, and the Day Run will accept any type of vehicle for use in their tournament. At the same time, both the KNPD and the Ring have realized the value in vehicles; as such, many of their members have begun to build or steal their own, and those with past experience as pilots have begun to train newcomers in their use. Due to relatively limited space on the island, as well as to keep players from using ridiculously large vehicles, the maximum size that a vehicle can be is 5 Bio long by 5 Bio tall, or 22.5 ft. by 22.5 ft. Credits “Credits? Oh, they aren’t anything special… until you consider that you need the highest amount to win the tournament.” ~Tournament Organizer Kerid Credits are an important part of the Day Run, serving both as the primary prize for races and arena matches and the ranking system for the tournament. Much like in the Night Run, varying amounts of Credits are awarded to participants in the tournament, with the amount depending on where each player places. Credits are also kept track of via the Day Run’s computer system, so that contestants do not have to do the math themselves. At the end of the Day Run's tournament, the team with the most Credits is declared the victor and will receive a grand prize. The amount of Credits awarded to each place is listed below. This list generally only applies to FFAs and regular races – some variations give preset amounts to the winning teams. First place: 300 credits awarded. Second place: 260 credits awarded. Third place: 220 credits awarded. Fourth place: 180 credits awarded. Fifth place: 140 credits awarded. Sixth place: 100 credits awarded. Seventh place: 80 credits awarded. Eighth place: 60 credits awarded. Ninth place: 40 credits awarded. Tenth place: 20 credits awarded. All other racers: 10 credits awarded just for entering. Teams “Teams were too valuable of an asset for our players to leave behind, hence why we’ve carried them over to the Day Run… even if some people get a little ‘carried away’ with them.” ~Tournament Organizer Kerid As with any game, the Day Run allows players to operate as teams, so as to allow them to increase their odds of winning the grand prize. While members of both the KNPD and the Ring tend to form small groups to accomplish their goals, the Day Run is the only organization with an official way of organizing players into teams. This is done through Team Crests. Developed by Ehjoras and his team of engineers and used in the Night Run, Team Crests are white, circular, shape-shifting devices handed out to all Day Run participants. A player’s Team Crest is affixed to their armor for the entirety of their run in the Day Run via magnetic force, and can be removed at any time. Mental activation allows the Team Crest to change its shape into one specified by its user; the extent of this is limitless, as long as it does not exceed the initial size of the Crest. To form a team, your Team Crests must be synched up with those of other Day Run contestants; this can be done via mental activation of a coding device built into them. Once the synch up is complete, all of the members of the newly formed team can communicate with each other via communication links built into the crests, and their Crests will then transform into the shape of the team’s leader’s Crest. During CtF games, a separate signal temporarily connects the Crests of two or more teams to form a larger one and changes the color of the connected Crests to either red or blue, though the shape does not change. There are a couple of limits on the Team Crests, unfortunately. For one, due to the possibility of an information overload, the maximum amount of players that can be on a team is four. Secondly, when tampered with (via hacking or disassembly) by anyone without knowledge of how they were made, Team Crests tend to explode – this is possibly a safety precaution designed to stop the technology form being used by the Ring. Other than that, the abilities of the Crests are seamless, and fairly easy to figure out. The Coliseum “Personally, I prefer the arena to the race track – you can’t rip apart your enemies limb from limb while in a vehicle, can you?” ~Officer Lurinost Gigantic; imposing; exciting; these are the words that usually come to mind when one mentions the Coliseum. A huge, domed stadium, this structure is home to all of the Day Run’s non-racing events, from capture the flag to free fighting to fast-paced vehicle shoot-‘em-ups. The majority of the arena is built into the ground, separated into seven, gradually shrinking rings connected via slanting walls and tunnels, ending in a final, bowl-like bottom ring. It is designed with nanotechnology that allows it to change its terrain with the activation of several control panels, located in a small, square room above the stands. Types of Matches Free-For-All FFAs are, quite simply, FFAs. They pit three to four teams at a time against one another with no alliances between them – the only alliances you will find are those within the teams that enter. Ranking follows the Day Run Standard format – the last ten warriors to fall receive a specific amount of Credits depending on what order they fell in. Capture the Flag A game played between 2-6 teams, Capture the Flag pits two even teams – one designated Blue, the other Red -- against one another, with the objective being for each team to try to capture the opposing team’s flag and return it to their base. The first team to do so will be declared the victor, and each team composing the winning team will receive 300 Credits. This is one of the few games to utilize the Team Crest’s Linking feature, connecting two separate teams together to temporarily form a larger one; as a note, members of individual teams will always be placed on the same CtF team. Vehicles are allowed to be used in this event. Team One on One TOoO’s are simple one team versus one team battles; as such, only two teams participate in one of these events. Each team sends in one team member to do battle, until all of the members of one team have been defeated. This game uses the Day Run Standard ranking format – the first player to fall is treated as 8th place, the second as 7th, and so on. –Team vs. Team An off-shoot of the above, this is exactly the same as TOoOs; the only difference is that instead of one team member battling at a time, the whole team participates at once. It follows the same scoring system as above. Vehicle Brawl Vehicle Brawl’s are similar to the above, as they are a two team event and your whole team participates at once, only they are done in vehicles – and as they are required for use in these matches, if a team member of yours does not own a vehicle, he or she can not participate. Vehicle Brawls use all seven of the Coliseum’s rings while they are happening, providing maximum space for each player’s vehicle. They follow the Day Run Standard ranking system. Additionally, this is the only Day Run event that allows the use of purely bipedal Mecha, which while not known for their racing capabilities are usually excellent at these sorts of battles. Races “What’s more exciting then driving on a freakishly long course at a bazillion miles per hour!?” ~Officer Sensha True to its name, the Day Run continues to host races as part of their agenda, though to an admittedly lesser extent that the Night Run; Kerid has stated this to be because she does not wish to disturb the relative silence of City, though this is ironic considering how loud the crowd in the arena usually is. Races take place on a race track spanning around the entire perimeter of the island, designed so as not to keep people form going on and off of the island while a race is taking place; it also uses the same nanotechnology that the arena uses, allowing it to change its terrain. Race variations have lagged behind arena matches, with only two race types currently established; however, Kerid and Ehjoras are both working on expanding that. Types of Races Regular Race Regular races are just that – regular races. Two to four teams race through the entirety of the course and places are determined by who gets across the finish line first. Unsurprisingly, weapons are allowed to be used in this event – a lot. So go crazy. Ranking follows the Day Run Standard Format. Note that hover boards are not allowed to be used in this event, as they do not provide enough protection to their users nor do they possess the necessary energy to even keep up with the more speed-capable vehicles that most contestants use. No Weapons No Weapons races function exactly as the above, with the only change being that it is purely racing – no weapons are allowed to be used during them. Other than that, they follow the same rules as above. Locations “Vreclusive scientists… strange and unique experimental veapons… it’s ‘ome sweet ‘ome!” ~Elithes At first glance, Kai-Nam’s heavy snowfall, tall peaks and dangerous outer rim would make the island appear uninhabitable to all but the most adaptable of individuals – and, indeed, many of the first beings to attempt to colonize the island died off before a strong establishment could be made. With the introduction of several hundred Ko-Matoran thousands of years ago, however, the island has evolved into one of the universe’s leading technological advancers, specializing in vehicles and other survivability devices through the use of plentiful natural resources hidden near the center of the island, as well as recently beginning a slight heating of the island to make it more open to beings from warmer parts of the universe. This section will attempt to familiarize newcomers to Kai-Nam with the island’s most important locations – new and old. The Barrens The outermost part of the island, the Barrens is just what the name suggests – a frozen wasteland that forms the shores of Kai-Nam. While it is possible to survive there, there are not a lot of resources, and most beings that have attempted to live in the Barrens for long periods of time have or nearly died. Niaka, or Ice Wyverns (named after the first leader of City, Niakar) are a common sight in the Barrens, being able to survive off of cold alone. -The Roads to Salvation are a web of paths that have been established from the various docks around Kai-Nam that lead to City. They are separated from the wild parts of the Barrens and the Hills by tall fences with built-in heating technology, providing relatively safe and comfortable travel to City for newcomers to the island. -The Silent Hills are, as many have noted, misnamed, because they refer to the dozens of small mountains scattered around the Barrens and that surround City. Still, official paperwork has yet to be signed that change their names, for unknown reasons. Regardless, the Hills are, as the name suggests, silent – few noises are ever heard coming from them. Recent technology has enabled beings to travel up the mountains, usually for training purposes, and they remain a favorite spot for people to seek solitude from the business of City despite their cold temperatures. Strangely, the higher one climbs, the warmer it seems to get… -The Ring Headquarters is where Lyxek can usually be found. It is built into the base of the tallest eastern mountain, close to City, and extends throughout the whole mountain, as it has essentially been converted into a massive fortress. It is equipped with defenses capable of holding off even the strongest KNPD warriors, and if the need arises, a self destruct sequence can be initiated that is reportedly powerful enough to take out an eighth of the island it is located on. The Day Run Having moved from Gynel in the past year, the Day Run has been reestablished in the western Barrens of Kai-Nam, so as not to disturb the residents. From a distance, the structures give the Day Run the appearance of a sort of small city, though these thoughts are dispelled immediately once one gets a closer look at the buildings. A path runs from the Day Run facilities to City, heated and protected by similar technology to the Roads. Due to recent events regarding the KNPD and the Ring, guard activity has risen – guards can now be seen patrolling the borders of the Day Run facilities and path far more often than usual, all with orders to subdue anyone who attempts to cause trouble for the tournament. -The Registration Office is relatively small in comparison to the other Day Run buildings, being only the size of a two-story house. It is a circular building with a flat roof, with four entrances. In the center is a desk with an automated registration, who is programmed to confirm all information on contestants before entering them into the tournament. To stop potential hackers, the computer networks in the registration office are protected by dozens of Smart AI. -The Player Lounge is a small hotel-like structure. Some contestants in the Day Run have no place to stay on Kai-Nam; as such those contestants are allowed to stay in the hotel for as long as they are participating in the tournament. It is a fairly fancy place, opting to give contestants the most comfort possible so as to keep them in top condition. It is usually used as a meeting place for the more reclusive teams. -The Coliseum is a large, domed structure belonging to the Day Run in which all gladiatorial matches are fought. It consists of stands for live audiences to sit, a control room from which the terrain can be changed, and seven rings composing the actual arena part of it. The rings slop down into the ground, gradually getting smaller until they come to form a small (in comparison to the other rings) bowl at the bottom. The audiences are protected from stray blasts by an energy shield separating the stands form the ring, and Recorder 2.0s float innocently over the battling contestants at all times, broadcasting the event to the universe. Kerid and her office are also located here, built above the stands so as to give the TO the best view of the events. -The Race Track is a large, zigzagging course built on the perimeter of Kai-Nam. It is designed so as not to impede travel between the docks and City in that is rises over the roads between them. Like the Coliseum, special nanobots developed by Makuta Jaeda are used to change the terrain of the race track into virtually anything imaginable. Recorder 2.0s are a common sight over the entirety of the track, broadcasting the races to view screens all over the universe. -The Garage is similar to both the Coliseum and the Lounge. It is an optional housing unit for the vehicles owned by contestants who can not find a cheap enough garage in City; and like the Coliseum, it is build deep into the ground, making it appear smaller on the outside than it is on the inside. This is where the Recorder 2.0s are stored when not in use, and where Ehjoras’s office is – the Matoran in question is also a common sight here. City Built in the center of Kai-Nam, right above where the majority of the natural resources can be found, City has become the sight of one of the most technologically advanced societies in the universe, rivaling the Brotherhood of Makuta and bypassing Xia in weapons and vehicle production. Being the only town or city on Kai-Nam, City has no “official” name, though the possibility of building new colonies has prompted several naming proposals. City is split into five smaller divisions, with each district specializing in a certain aspect of society. -North District, the science hub, is the second most heavily guarded sector of City, due to the fact that it is home to all of Kai-Nam’s labs, factories and experimental facilities, excluding the vehicle factories. Both KNPD officers and Ring operatives are a norm here, with the former guarding the labs and the latter attempting to gain intelligence on them; scientists are a very common sight as well, hustling to and fro in an attempt to keep everything in order. Lurinsot, Sensha and Sanshou tend to base their operations here, and are almost always seen pursuing criminals – or, in some cases with Lurinost, attempting to bribe or blackmail scientists into giving her equipment. -East District is the residential and recreational sector of City. It consists mainly of garages, hotels, apartments, shops, game corners and other such recreational facilities. Many contestants in the Day Run stay here during their time on Kai-Nam, as well as the residents of City; they are typically segregated from each other in terms of sleeping quarters, with Kai-Namians residing closer to Central than contestants. A now-obsolete section of East District is infamous for housing Lyxek and his original lackeys, who would later go on to form the Ring; several casinos built and owned by them are a daily reminder to the residents of this fact. The Civilians not affiliated with the Day Run all reside here. -West District deals with all of the vehicle-related stuff that is not covered in the North District. New vehicles are built, tested and mass-produced in West District, and then shipped out for use by other islands and the KNPD; some factories have secretly been bought out by the Ring, and as such provide vehicles to them. Several small race tracks can be found here, though unlike the Day Run’s, few can change their terrain. -South District was once the site to many observatories and planning facilities, where scholars could study the stars and improve designs for devices that would later be developed in North District. Following the Skakdi raid, South District has been transformed into a badly damaged and abandoned area of City. Though one would have expected repairs to have been finished since the raid, work has been slowed to a grinding halt after the discovery of a group of dead workers trapped in a green substance; investigations are still under way, though there have been few results. Strange creatures have also been sighted wandering around the streets at times; it is unknown who or what they are, though the Ring has claimed to be responsible for whatever it up on more than one occasion. -Central/KNPD Headquarters, called the “Political Division” by some, is the central section of City. It is the location of everything related to politics and the KNPD – jail houses, the mayor’s office, the town hall, and such. It is heavily guarded at all times by the KNPD. Near the middle of Central is a domed, fortress-like structure close to the town hall; platinum white in appearance, it is the base of all of the KNPD’s operations, and is nearly impenetrable due to the heavy defenses it is equipped with. It is designated as a fallback point for the mayor in the event that the Ring manages to break the mayor’s defenses. It is also where missions for the KNPD are handed out, and by extension, where the Director resides. A medium-sized section is dedicated to extracting resources from under the City -- with the Ko-Matoran twist of being done quietly and cleanly, of course. Niakar’s Trinity Named after the first leader of City, Niakar’s Trinity is a trio of three small islets off of the south coast of Kai-Nam. Though uninhabited by any sapient species, a large colony of Niaka is known to inhabit all three islets. The islets are known to be used by the Guild of Tyis in their initiation tests – a bounty hunter who can successfully capture a Niaka, who are known for their slyness and strength when infuriated, is considered worthy enough to become a member of the Guild. Travel to the islets is allowed, but highly advised against. Staff & Rules 1. First and foremost, all BZP rules apply – as usual, so no flaming and spamming and trolling and whatnot. If you haven’t read them, they can be found here. 2. To emphasize two specific parts from the above, do not spam and do not flame. For the uninformed, spamming is the posting of pointless messages – in this case, posts that don’t apply to the RPG. Don’t do it. Flaming is the intentional act of OOCly attacking or provoking another member. Don’t do it. You will be punished. 3. Heed the words of the staff. In the case that either you think a staff member has made an unfair call or they may have blatantly disrespected you, take it up with us and we’ll sort it out. 4. Don’t majorly control another player’s character unless they have asked you to. To be specific – A. Don’t kill another player’s character without permission; B. Don’t severely injure another player’s character without permission; and C. Don’t make another player’s character do something huge without – you guessed it – their permission. If you want to do that with your own characters, by all means go for it. 5. You must be approved before you begin playing. So, please, wait for me to give you an okay before you post in the game topic – it helps things run smoother. 6. Do not God-Mode or Meta-Game. For those not in the “know”: Meta-Gaming is, essentially, making you character know something that you only know OOCly – like, for example, reading a conversation between two characters nowhere near your character and then having your character know of it. God-Modding is pretty much just playing unfairly in battle – never tiring, being impossibly strong, etc. Both are looked down upon, neither will be tolerated. 7. Please be realistic. BIONICLE physics may not completely apply, but you can’t jump a mio into the air – it’s just not possible without help. Along with this, you may have a fast vehicle, but don’t zip off from one side of Kai-Nam and arrive at the other in one post. And make NPCs act like they should – if you’re a known KNPD officer, Ring guards aren’t going to let you into their base. 8. Please use the OOC and IC systems when you post. Examples of each are as follows: IC: “You’ve no idea what you’re dealing with,” Vailian said coldly, idly drawing five cards from his Coder… OOC: RandomToa1, that’s your cue to say what cards he drew. 9. You are allowed to use a maximum of three (3) characters in this role-play. Exceptions to this are generally only for Game Masters so as to allow them to effectively run the various factions here. 10. Be fair – establish yourself as a trustworthy person and act on that. By this I mean don’t purposely undermine someone else’s character just to win a battle or race – it’s a game; if you have to resort to OOC cheating to win a battle, then you’ve got issues. 11. Have fun! Don’t take this too seriously – it’s a game. Games are games are games. They won’t affect you. As for staff – currently, this RPG is being run by the following players. They should be listened to the majority of the time, as their job is to make the game run smoothly. If you have any questions or concerns, you may PM them regarding such things. -Parugi (GM) Additionally, a tool that you may see a GM use is similar to the IC/OOC system. This tool is symbolized by the prefix GM and is used for in-game announcements. Please do not use this if you are not a staff member. The following is an example: GM: Attention: The Day Run’s first race is about to begin. Teams wishing to participate should sign in with Ehjoras at the Day Run Registration Center; teams will then be randomly divided into an undetermined number of races, depending on the amount of teams participating. Punishments & Rewards The Garden follows a relatively simple five-strike system when it comes to punishments. Each time you break the rules, you will get a warning, with each warning increasing in seriousness. Once you get five strikes, you’re done – your characters are killed and you are permanently booted from the game. For specific details: 1st Strike: A friendly warning over PM; no other repercussions. You are expected to stop after this. 2nd Strike: A more severe warning, again over PM. A character will be injured, though nothing serious. Consider it a slap on the wrist. 3rd Strike: A third warning. One character will be severely injured and his vehicle damaged. Stop now. 4th Strike: One last warning. Your character will be killed, and all assets taken by his opposing faction. This is your last chance to turn around. 5th Strike: No warning. All characters killed, all vehicles and equipment taken; permanent banning from the RPG. You were warned. Go away. On the other hand, if you are a good and/or helpful player, then you may receive a reward. These rewards can range from an additional character to new equipment to power upgrades and other such things. While I’ll try my best to follow through on this, I’ve been known to be on and off about using my rewards systems in the past, so excuse me if I don’t give out gifts to everyone. Registration “Halt! Due to recent events, all newcomers to City must fill out a registration form, so as to let us know who, exactly, we’re allowing onto the land.” ~KNPD Officer Just like all other RPGs, you are required to fill out, submit and get a character sheet approved before you are allowed to play. Once you have filled out the sheet below, post it in the Character Profiles topic and it will be approved as soon as possible, provided everything is in order; after that, you are free to play the game as you see fit. Name: Obvious spot is obvious. Keep it BIONICLE-sounding, please. Faction: KNPD, the Ring, or Civilian. The Day Run is an optional sub-faction – if you wish to participate in the Day Run with a particular character, simply add (Day Run) after your chosen faction, as well as your team name/team crest design. Players who are not members of the Ring or the KNPD are automatically considered Civilians. Species: Any species is allowed, sans Makuta. Custom species are also allowed, provided you give a detailed description of what they look like. Gender: Male, female, unknown or none. Description: This covers both personality and appearance. If you have a picture of what your character looks like, then you may link to that instead of describing them. Equipment: This covers your character’s tools. Please do not use anything overpowered – a Super Godly Spear of Awesomeness, for example, will not be allowed, and instead will be burned at the first sign of its existence. Mask: All masks, including custom masks, are allowed, except for the Avohkii, Kraahkan and Legendary Masks. Masks with exceptionally strong powers are allowed but must be limited; such masks are the Tryna and Mohtrek, both of which must have a reasonable limit on the amount of bodies you can summon at once. Powers: This covers your character’s element and other powers. Anything is allowed, including custom elements, though Time and Life are not (the exception being if you have a power similar to Voporak’s time field or Thok’s animation power.) Vehicle: If your character has a vehicle, describe it – its appearance, its weapons, etc. If you have a picture, you can link to it. Some vehicles are also known to use above-average AI, allowing them to display Rahi-like behavior; if yours has such equipment, describe its personality as well. Biography: Where is your character from? Why is he/she at Kai-Nam? Essentially, what is your character’s past? Characters NPCs
5. Bumping for contest. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Name: Kerid. Faction: The Day Run. Species: Upper-Class Steltian (Sidorak’s species.) Gender: Female. Description: Eight feet tall, with a muscular and heavily armored, navy blue form. Kerid is an incredibly intimidating being in both appearance and personality, at least at first glance; her armor is equipped with several strange devices, many of whose abilities are unknown, and her Kanohi Pakari gives her a rather cold appearance in general. Once you get to know her, though, she isn’t so bad – in truth she simply wants what’s best for people and what will entertain them the most, and is a strong believer in justice, though not necessarily the kind that the KNPD dishes out. She has had disagreements with both the Director and Lyxek in the path, though allows both to continue entering their respective officers into the Day Run – presumably so as to gain intelligence on them. She is also incredibly difficult to intimidate herself, having stood up fearlessly to literal zombies and an enraged Lyxek on several occasions. Kerid has also recently rediscovered her morals and values, demonstrated by the discarding her new Mask of Mind Control and going back to using her old Kanohi Pakari helmet. Equipment: Triple-bladed Plasma axe; forearm energy shields. Mask: Kanohi Pakari, Mask of Strength; carved into the shape of a helmet. Powers: Kerid possesses the ability to control plasma via her axe, as well as increase her strength via her Kanohi Pakari. Other than those she has no powers. Vehicle: N/A. Biography: Kerid hails from the island of Stelt, where she lived as a wealthy, though often bored individual, as she usually found herself without anything to do. At some point she discovered the joys of arena combat and became a part-time fighter in Stelt’s annual tournaments; her skills attracted the attention of Daeja, who hired her as head of security for the Night Run. After the Night Run ended, Kerid took control of the tournament and reworked it into the Day Run, moving their operations to Kai-Nam and gaining a rather large amount of respect from the Night Run’s contestants. Recently, she has authorized Ring members and KNPD officers to participate in the Day Run, though tensions between her and the aforementioned groups have been higher than usual. Name: Ehjoras. Faction: The Day Run. Species: Pha-Matoran. Gender: Male. Description: Five feet tall, like most other Matoran, and wearing silver and turquoise armor with wing-like decorations on his shoulders, knees, elbows and ankles. He also wears a belt lined with half a dozen pouches around his waist, in which he carries various tools. Ehjoras is a very friendly being, and hasn’t changed much since the Night Run. He enjoys getting to know contestants and getting their opinions on the Day Run, as well as hearing stories about their experiences and sharing his own. Ehjoras is a very optimistic being in general -- he was one of the primary morale-boosters during the last Feranaki attack on Gynel, and almost never lets anything get him down. He is also very enthusiastic, as shown by his commentary during Day Run events. Equipment: Standard issue handyman equipment – screwdrivers, nails, tape measures, etc., as well as several electronic devices used to monitor the activity of the Recorder 2.0s, the race track and the arena, in the event that anything needs to be repaired. Mask: Powerless Kanohi Akaku, Mask of X-Ray Vision. Powers: Ectoplasm (inaccessible.) Vehicle: N/A. Biography: Ehjoras is well known for being the inventor of many of the Day and Night Runs’ devices, examples being the Team Crests, the nanobots responsible for the drastic terrain changes to the race track and arena, the Recorders and, later, the Recorder 2.0s, among many, many other devices. Ehjoras has very little memory of his life prior to the Night Run, brought about by the first attack of the Feranaki on Gynel, though he has begun to regain fractions of memory, especially after meeting several of the other Pha-Matoran rescued after the last tournament. Name: The Director. Faction: KNPD. Species: Unknown. Gender: Male. Description: No one has ever seen the Director’s face; in every video chat that he has been seen in (for that is the only way anyone sees him) he has appeared to be completely covered in darkness, due to a bright light in the background behind him obscuring his features. From his silhouette, he appears to be one of a mid-sized species, possibly the same as Sanshou or a Vortixx, though no one is quite sure what he is. The Director is very straightforward, and appears to be all about business – he assigns KNPD members their assignments with a cool attitude that suggests that he does not care about what he is actually saying, and almost seems to rush agents along so that he may assign more jobs to other agents. The reasons as to why he acts like this, as well as his true nature, are not currently known. Equipment: Unknown. Mask: Unknown. Powers: Unknown. Vehicle: Unknown. Biography: In living memory, no one has seen the Director in person since the formation of the KNPD – those who should still be alive and thus would remember that day are no longer around, having died many years ago from mysterious causes.... all at the same time. All that is known is that he runs the KNPD now and he has managed to keep his identity secret from everyone on the island – including his own officers. Name: Lurinost. Faction: KNPD. Species: Páladoston. Gender: Female. Description: Lurinost is eight feet tall and has half-moon mirrors on her face, stomach, shins and forearms. Her armor is dark green in color, with many points at the tips of each section, and is colored orange at the edges; Lurinost's armor bears a very jester-like appearance to it, due to her rather pointed boots and due to its coloration. She has no visible eyes, yet she is still able to see, and she almost always has a smug grin plastered on what is visible of her mouth through her “mirror helmet.” Lurinost is arrogant, stubborn and insistent – and she has reason to be, because she has, according to rumors, single-handedly defeated more Ring members than the rest of her squad and the second most powerful KNPD squad combined. Lurinost tends to use her authority against citizens if they have something she wants, something that is supposedly frowned upon by the Director; strangely, though, she has yet to be removed from service. She sees most other beings as being beneath her, and never takes the words of anyone else seriously – something Lyxek has taken note of and intends to exploit… Equipment: Lurinost’s hand mirrors are her primary tools, as they function both as effective shields and, with mental activation, they can be ejected from their slots, though are still connected to her armor via energy chains, and then used as chain-boomerangs of sorts. Mask: N/A. Powers: Despite what her armor color suggests, Lurinost can manipulate Stone and Sand via her mirrors, to a much greater extent than Toa of either element. She also possesses the ability to locate beings and objects via her left hand mirror and is – to an extent – telepathic. She is also incredibly strong and agile. Vehicle: Lurinost pilots a relatively simple-looking vehicle called the Copycat; in its standard form, it is a metal sphere just large enough to comfortably fit Lurinost inside of it. Once several controls are activated, it uses external scanners to lock on to a nearby Mecha, deploying dozens of thin, flexible metal rods from its hull; a strange liquid then begins to envelope the Copycat, connecting at the rods. Soon enough, the Copycat has transformed into an exact replica of the scanned mecha, giving it all of its abilities. Biography: Like another being very similar to her, Lurinost’s origins are unknown to all but her. She arrived from the Southern Islands many thousands of years ago, wandering the universe in search of someone capable of defeating her in battle. Thus far, she has yet to find that person. Somehow, she eventually met the Director of the KNPD and joined his organization – though her reasons for doing so are unknown, as she doesn’t seem like the type of being who would willingly serve anyone else. She has been relatively hard at work fighting against organizations like the Ring ever since. Name: Sanshou. Faction: KNPD. Species: Artanian. Gender: Female. Description: As an Artanian, Sanshou greatly resembles a Toa, being seven feet tall and all that jazz. However, her armor is completely black and is more aerodynamic than that of a Toa. She also wears a long, gray scarf, which is wrapped around her neck at all times and covers her mouth, and the ends of which hang down the left of her back, coming to a stop just below her knees. Her eyes are a glowing yellow. In terms of personality, Sanshou is a quiet and reserved individual, as well as relatively polite despite being paired up with Lurinost. She doesn't talk much, making her appear slightly unintelligent, but in reality she is intelligent and calculating. What she does say tends to be short and concise, getting straight to the point. Like Elithes, her intentions are purely for justice, though she doesn't harbor as strong of a suspicion of the KNPD as he does. Equipment: Sanshou always carries a respectable amount of small daggers with her, which she uses both to throw and attack with at close range. She has also been seen using a curved blade at times, though this is rare. She also carries a bag of smokeballs, which she uses as a distraction to get away... or as a decoy so as to catch her prey. Mask: Sanshou wears a black Noble Ruru. Powers: Sanshou possesses no powers. She is, however, an accomplished knife thrower and close-range knife fighter, using her daggers effectively in either case, as well as being an incredibly acrobatic being. Vehicle: Sanshou does not own her own vehicle, though when prompted to she has borrowed and effectively piloted several different KNPD-issued vehicles, suggesting she has had past vehicle training. Biography: A relatively new member of the KNPD, Sanshou was formerly a bounty hunter operating as a member of the Guild of Tyis, with her primary skills revolving around assassination. Sanshou is no stranger to Kai-Nam, having operated there before; however, the recent rise in crime in the city has concerned her, and has acted as her primary reason for joining the KNPD, so that she may keep a closer eye on events there. Though her plans did not factor in a corrupted leader, she has used the extra power to her advantage during her crime-fighting sprees. Name: Sensha. Faction: KNPD. Species: Southern Ondarian. Gender: Female. Description: Sensha is very much like Sanshou in appearance; however, there are some key differences. Sensha's armor is almost completely white, with blue undertones, and is extremely sleek so as to decrease wind resistance. She is the same height as a Toa, though is considerably thinner, and is far more agile than a Toa could ever hope to be, pulling off flips and stunts that would rival the skills of the Dark Hunter Lariska. Sensha's eyes are light blue in coloration, and her mask gives her face a perpetual smile. In terms of personality, Sensha is extremely cheerful, energetic, and borderline insane. She loves showing off her skills to others, usually taking her time in a chase so as to flaunt her abilities to spectators. She speaks in a cheerful tone at all times, something that tends to get on Sanshou's nerves. Sensha does not tend to listen to others, rushing into situations without much thought and bringing about (what she perceives as) justice through any means possible, even if that means killing a potential criminal. Despite her slightly sadistic attitude, Sensha is considered a thing of beauty by many, and often finds herself surrounded by admirers. Equipment: Sensha utilizes a protosteel bow staff in combat, as well as for acrobatic use in day to day life and whilst in pursuit of criminals. Mask: Kanohi Idra, Mask of Intangibility. Shaped like a rounded, white helmet with two large feather-like decorations extending back from either side. The sides of the mouth opening are also twisted so as to mimic a smile, much like that of a Miru. Powers: Sensha possesses a paralysis ability that can only be focused through her hands. Her power seems to work differently depending on whether or not you have powers -- if so, then it simply blocks access to them for an unspecific amount of time. If you do not have powers, then the attack will leave wherever you get hit numb and unable to be used for some time. Sensha is also extremely acrobatic, and possesses roe strength than she appears to. Vehicle: Surprisingly, Sensha pilots a very large, very fearsome Wyvern-Type Mecha. Measuring an incredible 22 feet long and 16 feet tall, Sensha's Mecha -- named the Niaka after the similarly shaped Rahi native to Kai-Nam -- possesses quite a bit of equipment: Powerful thrusters and wings for flight, flamethrowers located in its mouth, bladed wings, protosteel armor, and machine guns all make the Niaka a devastating weapon in combat. Its sheer size, surprising maneuverability, protosteel armor, Smart A.I. and just plain skilled piloting on Sensha's part all make it incredibly difficult to take out. Biography: Sensha is rather... unique among the other members of her squad in that she was already on Kai-Nam prior to the formation of the KNPD. Acting as an entertainer, she was and still is fairly famous on the island, putting her amazing acrobatic talents to good use -- sponsoring programs for the common good, for example. She was later influenced into joining the KNPD so as to use her abilities to catch criminals, and was quickly paired up with Lurinost and Sanshou. It was around this time that she also began to display rather sociopathic behavior, using whatever means she could to catch wrongdoers -- even if those means involved severely harming others. Name: Lyxek. Faction: The Ring. Species: Toa of Sonics. Gender: Male. Description: A standard, seven-foot-tall Toa of Sonics, Lyxek appears to be heavily armored – in reality, his armor is lightweight and is designed to appear baggy, reflecting his laid-back personality. He has buried his roots by painting his armor and Kanohi Kirimo black and white, as well as to better blend in with the residents of Kai-Nam. Lyxek is, at first glance, a greedy individual – he wants money, he wants power, and he’s not afraid to use force to get either of them. However, most of his actions stem from his love of fun -- threatening and bribing people so as to provide himself with entertainment, mostly in the form of gambling and watching civilians suffer. He is a strong believer in luck and chance, and employs them in many of the Ring’s operations. However, Lyxek is a bit of a coward, running away from battles that he does not think he can win. He also has a love for music, probably brought about by his control over sound, which seems to help him keep his short temper in check – when an underling brings him bad news, for example, he usually begins playing his guitar in response. Equipment: A protosteel guitar, through which he channels his powers. Showcasing Lyxek’s love for luck, the guitar features a dial on the back that, when spun, will come to stop on a random number between five and zero, represented by a skull; the number it lands on determines how powerful the attack is, with the skull being the strongest and five being the weakest (though still being quite powerful.) Should his sonic attacks fail, the guitar can also function as an axe, or he resorts to a deck of blank, razor-sharp, Protosteel throwing cards. His armor is also equipped with an antenna behind his head, though the purpose of this is unknown. Mask: Kanohi Kirimo, Mask of Kinetic Manipulation. The Kirimo allows Lyxek to manipulate the speed at which other objects move, be they other beings, rolling stones, his own throwing cards, anything. Though he doesn’t tend to use it offensively, he has been known to use it to pack an extra punch while hurling his protosteel cards, as well as using it to stop police officers in their tracks so that he can make a quick getaway. As a note, Lyxek’s Kirimo is shaped and painted like a white Kakama. Powers: Complete control over Sonics, further amplified by his guitar. Vehicle: Unknown. Biography: Lyxek’s initial appearance on Kai-Nam several years ago was taken rather lightly – he seemed like just an ordinary Toa who wanted to help protect the island’s various labs following the Skakdi raid. Unfortunately, he was met by a string of bad luck – few laboratories considered him serious enough to trust their goods to, and fewer beings thought he possessed the experience to track down and defeat any potential thieves. This along with his virtual imprisonment on the island, due to him not owning a boat, sent him on his own spree of robberies; by the time the crimes had been traced back to him and an arrest was attempted, Lyxek had already used the stolen money and technology to set up a base, as well as corrupt many individuals to his cause. Lyxek has led the Ring ever since, expanding his operations to the majority of Central Name: Vailian. Faction: The Ring; Day Run (Team Luck. Crest: Three dice.) Species: Hivéna. Gender: Male. Description: Vailian, like all Hivéna, stands at eight feet tall, and appears to be more mechanical than most other species in the Matoran Universe, being far more robotic in appearance than, say, Toa or Makuta. He is black and red in color, with gold and white scattered throughout. His bulky body armor is primarily black trimmed with gold, with a red stripe running down his front so as to give the appearance of wearing a sort of military uniform. His arm and leg armor is all black, with similar gold trim on his wrists and ankles, and his feet and hands are white, resembling gloves and boots. His shoulder armor comes to an upward point near his jaw, creating a sort of coat collar, and his head is black with dark green eyes. Vailian wears a helmet very similar to a hat, relatively flat in the back and pointing outward in the front, and is colored with a gold trim with a large, white feather on the right side; the inside and bottom of the point are completely red. In terms of personality, Vailian is calm and collected, remaining calm under pressure, though he is also extremely proud; luckily, the other side of his personality balances this out, though he tends to take certain insults rather badly. Nevertheless, he is cunning, and manages to find ways out of extremely sticky situations. Much like Lyxek, he is a strong believer in luck, something that he seems to have quite a bit of, and relies heavily on his Coder and cards to give him the strength to win his battles. The majority of the moves he makes are carefully calculated, structured so as to give him an edge over his opponent; regardless of this, though, he is fair to his opponents, looking down on foul play, and tends to engage in banter with his opponents before officially beginning a fight with them. Equipment: Vailian’s weapon is the Coder, a device resembling a gauntlet permanently fixed over his left hand. It is silver in color and bears a hollow space in which a deck of cards is placed, and three slots in which a single card can be set above that. The Coder is capable of temporarily encoding various powers into Vailian; how it does this is unknown, but it is technology developed on Kai-Nam. First, two to five cards are drawn from the deck; Vailian then chooses one to three of these cards to place into the coder. Once this is done he will gain access to the chosen powers for an hour; during that time, the cards that were not chosen are returned to the deck and no other cards can be removed or drawn until the hour is up. It also modifies Vailian’s armor so as to symbolize his chosen powers. Mask: N/A. Powers: Vailian does not possess any natural powers, though his Coder can temporarily program certain powers into him via special cards. However, he is fairly agile, as well as a natural acrobat despite his bulk. For a full list of Vailian's cards, see here. Vehicle: Vailian is not a strong believer in vehicular travel; instead he opts for small, two-use teleportation devices that were originally developed on Kai-Nam and extensively used by Makuta Jaeda during her time on Exa-Nui and Gynel. The Ring variants are limited to travel between Ring bases; usually Vailian uses them to travel to one base and then back to wherever he was before. Biography: Once upon a time, Vailian was a bounty hunter and hired protector on an unknown island. After a series of failed captures because of his lack of powers, he was ridiculed and opted tot ravel to Kai-Nam so as to acquire weapons to assist him in his endeavors. Gaining the attention of Lyxek, Vailian was convinced to join the Ring and train under Lyxek, who also gave him his Coder. Since then he has become Lyxek’s most trusted guard. He recently joined the Day Run out of a mix of interest in the tournament and orders to do so from his leader, and even volunteered and was chosen to take part in the Day Run’s opening arena match. Name: Dalmia. Faction: The Ring. Species: Unknown; reptilian with eight wings. Possible sub-species of Zyglak. Gender: Male. Description: Dalmia is a reptilian, Toa-sized being. He is primarily black with dark green, slightly florescent lines running all along his body, as well as eight wings on his back; usually, they are folded over him so as to make it seem like he is wearing a robe, though when he unfolds them, such as for flight, his actual, lean body is seen. He has sharp, though small talons on his hands. Dalmia is a very mysterious and playful being. Even in the face of danger, he does not hesitate to make a joke, as seen when he was captured by the KNPD. Further, he is a sly individual and possesses a snake's tongue, being able to manipulate powerful beings with his words. Dalmia is also extremely sarcastic at times and has been known to hint at the Ring's plans, or the truth about certain matters, playing this off as if he actually wishes for the destruction of the Ring. Equipment: Dalmia wears a helmet that, thus far, has been seen to be able to trace beings through illusions. Other than that, he does not seem to have anything that is not a part of his body. Mask: None, though he permanently wears a helmet with a pitch-black visor. This visor is a piece of heck tech equipment that, for one, can not be removed from his head. It can do several things for the Ring agent -- for example, he can see through illusions and track energy using it. Each of these actions switches the interior of the visor into a unique color; the aforementioned tool, for example, turns his visor yellow. Powers: Dalmia is known to possess several powers, most of them acting as ethereal or mind-altering abilities. He is capable of transporting himself through invisible portals, making it seem as if he is turning invisible when he does so. He has also been shown to be able to create illusions of himself in faraway locations that he has visited without actually moving his body; an example is when he appeared to Kayzata in a vehicle factory while his physical body was still in the Ring's HQ. It seems that he can also alter gravity, as he was shown to literally stand on the side of a building in the South District. Dalmia can also fly via the use of his eight wings, and launch blasts of dust like energy from his being; these blasts take the form of ghostly apparitions of whatever body part he launches them out of. For example, he was shown to stand still and launch a blast in the shape of his entire body on one occasion. Along with this, he can increase the speed at which he moves, similar to a Kakama user. It is also implied that he has other, smaller powers. Vehicle: N/A. He doesn't need one. Seriously; he has wings and can teleport. What point is there in a vehicle for him? Biography: Contrary to his status in the Ring, Dalmia is a fairly recent recruit in the organization. Originally just some random troublemaker on Kai-Nam, he joined the Ring as a means to get some recognition for his "art" -- that is, the damage he was causing to City's population; this has put him fairly high on the KNPD's wanted list, as he has been able to do far more damage lately with the Ring's equipment. Recently, he was captured by the KNPD, though regained his freedom when Sanshou was subsequently captured by the Ring, and both organizations agreed to a trade. In that time, his appearances have been marked by disaster and tragedy, first when the Collector attacked a bar he had gone to for the trade, second when he flew around the mountains where Draxion found a dead body, and thirdwhen he appeared to Sanshou and Brother in South District following combat with several monsters. It is thought that several of his abilities -- or, at the very least, the high power that he currently has with them -- were somehow amplified when he joined the Ring, though how is not known. Name: Zanth. Faction: Civilians; Day Run (Team Zero. Crest: Electrified "Z.") Species: Unknown. Gender: Male. Description: Very regal in appearance, Zanth is tall, standing at eight feet, and is primarily black with silver armor. He has broad shoulders decorated with large, upward-pointing shoulder spikes, and is very lean though muscular in appearance. He wears a sort of skirt-like cape that is attached to his belt and covers the backs and sides of his legs, and he wears silver boots. He has a single green eye (see Mask) and two dark green crystals embedded in his chest armor. Zanth is a strange individual. Quiet and calculative, he was one the Day Run’s top players during their opening tournament six months ago, though no one knows where he came from or how he acquired his skills. He is an effective leader, giving sharp commands to his teammates and adapting to different situations in the arena or race track in a heartbeat. Outside of the tournament, he is kind and open, though he tends to avoid questions about his origins. He does not like foul play, and deals swift justice to those who attempt to cheat in combat, regardless of whether or not the battle involves him. Equipment: Twin spiked maces with claw attachments at the bottoms. He also possesses two tentacles that extend from his back, ending in claws that can latch on to opponents and absorb their strength. Mask: Kanohi Faton, Mask of Elasticity. Appearing as a sort of one-eyed helmet with a single, green eye, the Faton essentially turns Zanth’s body to rubber for as long as he concentrates on it, allowing him to stretch his limbs and absorb hits, though also making him weaker to fire. Powers: Plasma; limited energy-absorption. Vehicle: Zanth uses a 17 ft. tall/16 ft. long, black and green Wolf Mecha, called the Seeker. The Seeker is sleek in design, built primarily for speed though slightly lacking in defense; however, it counters that drawback by using its incredible speed to its advantage, easily dodging attacks from other Mecha. It has thrusters built into the backs of its rear legs, and plasma-coated claws that increase its ability to rip through the hulls of other mecha, along with three deployable cannons on its back and sides. The Seeker, like most other Rahi Mecha, has a smart AI built into it, allowing it to display animalistic behavior and, when enabled, to act of its own accord. Biography: Not much is known about Zanth; he appeared on and off of Kai-Nam almost immediately following the formation of the KNPD and has generally been seen near the mountains for a short time before disappearing for hours, days, even weeks on end. He supposedly keeps a collection of information somewhere in City, though many believe this to merely be a rumor. Other than that, there isn’t much information on him or what he is doing; Suya, Zanth’s only remaining teammate supposedly is in on Zanth’s operations, as he tends to follow the same patterns as him, but he won’t talk… Name: Suya. Faction: Civilian; Day Run (Team Zero.) Species: Northern Ondarian. Gender: Male. Description: Suya is fairly similar to Zanth in build, being eight feet tall and fairly regal. However, while Zanth would be described as looking like a ruling figure, Suya looks more like a member of the royal guard -- in this case, an archer. His armor is sleek and light, and his upper half is mostly covered by a white cape-slash-robe, clipped at the right shoulder and with two other clips at his waist, covering both of his arms when they are at his sides as well as the backs of his legs. His thigh armor is rather large in comparison to his thinner, knee-length, jester-like boots. Suya's armor is a mix of green and silver, symbolizing his connection to Jungle and Iron, and his eyes are a deep blue. He always has the hood attached to his cape up, obscuring the top half of his mask. A calm individual, if a little arrogant due to his natural, Ondarian pride, Suya does not let insults or threats bother him. He feels a connection to both nature and industry due to his powers, and bears a sense of balance stepping from that conflict of elements. In contrast to Zanth, Suya is not afraid to voice his thoughts, and talks far more than Zanth; however, he is not as observant as his leader is, and has nearly fallen into several elaborate traps in the past, only to be saved at the last minute by him. Nevertheless, he is not reckless, and is still an observant individual. Suya is also confident in his ability to fight and defeat certain KNPD and Ring operatives, though he has not yet had a chance to test his skills. Equipment: A sharp, retractable hook blade on his left arm, symbolizing Jungle, and a retractable, protosteel bullet-shooting pistol on his right arm, symbolizing Iron. Mask: The Kanohi Dios, Mask of Fusion, colored green. Like everything else related to Suya, the Dios represents his mix of nature elements and industrial elements. He tends to not use this on anyone other than himself and his teammates, as they do not fight his control when fused. Powers: Suya has the ability to control both Jungle and Iron. Some consider this unusual, due to the fact that they are essentially opposing forces of the world, though it gives Suya a very deep and unique sense of balance because of that. He also possesses the power to teleport short distances, usually accompanied by a swirl of his cape. Vehicle: Suya pilots a Shift-Type vehicle called the Industrial Plant; this means that his vehicle is able to switch between two forms at the press of a button. The first form is a Centipede Mecha -- relatively flat, it is barely 7 feet tall, and is 12 feet long. It is used primarily for burrowing underground and attacking opponents from the bottom, either by blasting them with its plasma cannons or by catching them in its protosteel mandibles. The other form is a motorcycle, 10 feet long and slightly shorter than the Centipede form. The motorcycle form is faster and more maneuverable, though its only weapons are plasma cannons and extendable blades (the mandibles having moved to the sides of the vehicle.) The entire thing, regardless of form, is silver and green, and is operated with the help of a Smart A.I. named Kruz, which is more prominent in the Centipede form. Biography: Suya appeared on Kai-Nam shortly after Zanth, along with the other two beings who formed the other half of their Day Run team, both of whom have since been killed in combat. The four usually spent their time with each other, and seemed to always keep an eye on the KNPD and the Ring, for unknown reasons. When the Day Run formed, they were quick to enter as a single team, though two of their members were killed in skirmishes in between the first and second tournaments. Not much else is known about Suya; he tends to disappear with Zanth for certain periods of time, though no one knows where they go off to. Name: Elithes. Faction: Civilians; Day Run (Team Vigil. Crest: An eye.) Species: Ko-Matoran. Gender: Male. Description: A standard-sized Ko-Matoran, Elithes has made many additions to his body following the original Skakdi raid on his island. He is more bulky than a standard Matoran, and wears more black armor than a Ko-Matoran normally would. His improvements have also made him independent of masks, and so he now wears a stronger, silver helmet in place of his old Kanohi. He wears a white jump pack on his back, and his entire right arm has been replaced with a mechanical one outfitted with an Ice Shotgun, due to damage he received from the Skakdi. Elithes is a very quiet individual, though lately he has begun to speak more, mostly due to having Illuxio with him wherever he goes. He has a strong sense of justice, siphoned into his bounty hunting job, though his hatred of Skakdi sometimes clouds his judgment when a situation involves one. Despite his mistrust towards them, he never lets his emotions get the better of him, and has even worked with several relatively good Skakdi on several missions – albeit involuntarily. Since his return to his home island, he seems happier than normal, though he is a little upset about the formation of both the Ring and the KNPD, neither of which he fully trusts. As such he has decided to try to protect his city on his own, fighting any KNPD officers or Ring operatives who cross him. Equipment: An Ice Shotgun, which channels his natural Ice elemental energy into small bursts of fire; a jump pack, which, as the name suggests, allows him to jump extremely high in short bursts; and a plasma pistol outfitted with a bayonet. He also carries containers of a purple substance that can be fired from his gun and will grow into a sort of purple-colored crystal that is hard to break and does not melt. Mask: Elithes no longer needs a mask to survive, due to augmentations made to his body. Instead he now wears a highly durable, silver helmet with a built in HUD. Powers: Ice Elemental Energy (inaccessible outside of using his shotgun.) Vehicle: Elithes pilots a 10-foot-tall/10-foot-long vehicle called the Wheel, named after its shape as it is, essentially, a giant, completely mechanical wheel. Within the center is a seat, and attached to that are two double-barreled machine guns that he operates with a separate control stick, which can fire five different projectiles – protosteel bullets, EMP blasts, rockets, lightning and fire balls. He is protected on either side by energy shields, and the interior of his vehicle is designed so that the front takes the appearance of whatever is in front of him. This allows him to get around without crashing into anything whichever way he turns, a feat which appears impossible to those who see him driving, due to the apparent lack of a front window. Elithes has upgraded it since the last tournament so as to include longer lasting and more durable shields, and its top speed has been drastically increased. Biography: Originally a scholar on Kai-Nam, Elithes was a first hand witness and victim to the Skakdi raid of City; not only did it result in the deaths of many of his friends, but the Skakdi also left him severely injured. Using money he had saved up, as well as his own skills with technology, Elithes paid for and made many augmentations to his body, replacing his arm with a mechanical one and, essentially, making him stronger overall; he then began work as a bounty hunter and managed to become a member of the Guild of Tyis, a notoriously picky bounty hunters organization. Elithes returned to Kai-Nam after the last Night Run due to Rahkshi trouble on a nearby island, and has begun to work as a vigilante in light of discovering the Ring. Name: Illuxio. Faction: Civilian; Day Run (Team Vigil.) Species: AURA-Class AI (Smart AI.) Gender: Male programming. Description: Being an AI, Illuxio has no preset appearance. His usual avatar is a standard, aerodynamic Toa with constantly shifting colors wearing a Kakama. In terms of personality, Illuxio is very formal, polite and sophisticated, speaking precisely at all times. He is able to keep his calm under extreme pressure, and has only ever lost his temper once, when he was insulted by another contestant on Gynel. He is rather blunt with what he says, never beating around the bush, as demonstrated with the numerous times that he has reminded Elithes about his blind eye. Curiously, unlike other Smart AIs, Illuxio's emotions are real; how this is so has not been revealed, as Illuxio himself does not know why or how he has come to possess true emotions. Equipment: N/A. Mask: Kanohi Kakama, the Mask of Speed. As it is merely part of his avatar, Illuxio is not actually able to use it. Powers: Illuxio possesses the ability to travel inside of computer networks and vehicles, as well as jumping from one to the other so long as two compatible networks are near each other; once inside, he can then either gain access to all of the weapons and devices connected to the network (if he is in a computer or a vehicle) or accelerate the processing speed of a being, increasing their reflexes; this can also be used on vehicles. Further, Illuxio is an expert hacker, and has yet to find a computer he can not break into. Vehicle: Illuxio possesses no vehicle, though he can travel through cyberspace or be carried inside of a bio-mechanical being. Biography: Illuxio was obtained from another dimension by a ghost-like contestant in the last Night Run; at the time, he was inactive, though after being given to Toa Kovian, he was switched on. Illuxio joined Team Shurikan as an unofficial member of the Night Run, and assisted in hacking Makuta Jaeda's computer network at one point. Following the end of the tournament, he primarily began traveling with Elithes, helping him fight against several thieves and thugs on other islands. The two have returned to Kai-Nam to assist against the Ring, acting as contestants in the Day Run and as vigilantes at night. Recently, Illuxio has been experiencing several technical difficulties, such as extreme headaches and visions of events that he doesn't remember experiencing. Name: The Collector. Faction: Unknown? There are hinted ties to the Ring, though nothing has been confirmed at this point. Species: Nanobot construct. Gender: Seems to possess male programming, though as his voice is heavily automatized, it is hard to be sure. Description: The Collector is very difficult to see the majority of the time, as he usually appears as a cloud of green mist. However, when he uses his actual form, he takes on the appearance of a tall, skeletal-like being, with loose, dark clothing. Around his neck is a necklace of seven cards, each with a circle in its center; whenever he kills a being one of the circles lights up, as he collects their soul energy. The Collector has a demonic, automatized voice, which is extremely airy and is extremely disturbing to hear. The Collector is a very cruel and monstrous being. He has been known to engulf entire buildings in his essence to trap his targets, and then plays sick and twisted mind games with them -- appearing in a flash before them and setting them up to kill others in the area by accident, allowing him to collect their souls, and other such things. His dialogue suggests that he works for the devil, as he constantly refers to himself as the collector of the devil's dues, the devil's blade, and similar titles. Attempts to destroy him have proved virtually impossible. Equipment: The Collector's primary weapon is his scythe, which is literally an extension of himself. He can extend or retract it at will, make it smaller or longer if he so wishes. It, like the Collector, is capable of rapidly shifting between physical states on a whim. The necklace of seven cards around his neck also seems to be able to collect souls, as one lights up for each of his kills, though he is limited to seven souls a day. Mask: N/A. Powers: As a nanobot construct, the Collector is capable of transforming into a cloud of green mist. He can also shift rapidly between physical states, a power that extends to his weapon. Given the nature of his nanobots, he can also project slight illusions, and seems to be able to extract the souls of beings that he kills. He is also virtually impossible to destroy, and can create his own minions by using his nanobots; examples include a large group of zombie-Matoran and a large Toa made of shadow. Vehicle: N/A. Biography: The Director has plagued the island for about a year now, popping up every couple of days and killing random individuals before making off again. Not much is known about him, though he has proved virtually impossible to harm or kill at this point in time. It was recently discovered that the Collector is not a demon, as he claims, but a robotic being created from modified, stolen Day Run nanobots, hence his unique abilities.

Lyxek's Done!

I finally got that armor piece I need, so Lyxek's officially finished now. He's definitely one of my favorite MOCs yet, mostly because he's one of the few Toa-sized builds that I've made with a good custom body. Plus, I managed to spread out the black and white on him pretty evenly, which is always good. So, yeah. I'll post pictures whenever I get a chance to borrow someone's camera. I also ordered and received a new, Metru-green Rahkshi head today, which I used to replace Levrok's Mata green one; expect pictures of him and the other Toa Exa, too.
7. JSYK. Watch this post -- it'll be here soon, and it's going to feature a rather surprising character.

Vailian's Cards

Vailian has a total of 40 cards in his deck, each with a unique power. The complete list is spoiler'd below: Fire (Element Card) Lightning (Element Card) Psionics (Element Card) Sand (Element Card) Iron (Element Card) Stone (Element Card) Air (Element Card) Plant Life (Element Card) Physical Fear Projection (Power Card) Hunger (Power Card) Teleportation (Power Card) Illusion (Power Card) Acid (Power Card) Blinding (Power Card) Paralysis (Power Card) Slowness (Power Card) Vertigo (Power Card) Fear (Power Card) Poison (Power Card) Sleep (Power Card) Intangibility (Kanohi Card) Shielding (Kanohi Card) Rebounding (Kanohi Card) Levitation (Kanohi Card) Speed (Kanohi Card) Repulsion (Kanohi Card) Silence (Kanohi Card) Confusion (Kanohi Card) Duplication (Kanohi Card) Anger (Kanohi Card) Incomprehension (Kanohi Card) Amplification (Kanohi Card) Disguise (Kanohi Card) Strength (Kanohi Card) Chameleon (Kanohi Card) Blank Card Blank Card Blank Card Blank Card Blank Card Element Cards: Gives Vailian Toa-level control over an element. Modifies his armor so as to reflect the chosen Element -- for example, the Fire Card would cause his hands to appear as if they were on fire, the Iron Card would make him appear more metallic, etc. Power Cards: Gives Vailian the ability to use the power(s) he places in the Coder for an hour. Modifies his armor so as to resemble the power he is using/use markings to symbolize them -- the Intangibility Card, for instance, would make him appear see-through without being active, and the Vertigo Card would place swirl markings on his armor. Kanohi Cards: Gives Vailian the ability to use (a) Kanohi power(s) when he places them in the Coder. They modify his face so as to temporarily make it resemble the face of the mask he chooses; if more than one Kanohi Card is used, it will use a mixture of the characteristics of all three masks. Blank Cards: Do absolutely nothing. They are only in the deck because Vailian is unable to remove them -- Lyxek made them specifically so that if Vailian were to turn on him, he could challenge him and summon all five to the top of the deck, essentially leaving Vailian a sitting duck. Also, as for how the cards he gets in battle are determined -- I'm leaving that up for my opponent to decide. As trustworthy as I know/think I am (if a bit unreliable in terms of meeting deadlines ) I have no doubt that if I leave it up to myself to decide, then someone's going to call foul. The only thing is, if people consistently cause me to draw really bad hands (say, three or four Blank Cards and one or two of the weaker powers) then I'm going to retcon those hands and draw my own, respectable hand -- so, no, you're not going to get a huge edge against me that easily. However, do remember this: I have faith in the BIONICLE RPG community, so I shouldn't have to do this at all (unless someone doesn't feel like deciding my hand for me.)
9. Alright; while I continue to think over the City name, I have another question for you potential Day Run players. As most people should know, Night Ride's central point was the vehicle aspect of it. We had hoverboards, we had motorcycles, we had a giant wheel, we had Rahi-shaped mecha, and, heck, we even had a horse and a walking house. (FYI: None of these are accurate representations.) So, here's what I have to propose as an expansion to this. Bipedal mecha. Similar to the ones from Darkspace, or even something like, say, this, they would be used solely for vehicle-based arena battles, or they could be used to explore the barrens. And, yes, while technically they could have been used in NR, no one used any, so I get the feeling that they are somewhat unwanted. But still. What are your opinions? Should I mention them as a sort of new type of vehicle, or just not mention them at all and see if anyone uses any? Obviously I would let people make their own, just as I've been doing, in case anyone was wondering. And yes, you still have the option to use any vehicle you want in the RPG, though unlike in NR, they aren't required. Also, as on off-shoot of this, the maximum vehicle size in NR was 18 ft tall/18 ft wide; this seems a bit impractical now, so how much bigger do you guys think I should make it? I was thinking 24/24, but I'm not sure.
10. Kay, so, here's the deal: There are ten days left until the contest ends, and I'm still not finished with Day Run. But don't fear -- as of today I'm diverting 88% of my attention to it. Luckily, I already know what I need and want to put where and what I want to include and what not. The one thing I still do not have, however, is a name for the city in which it takes place -- but you can help! Simply post whatever suggestions for the city name you can come up with in a comment and then I'll choose the one I like best to use in the RPG -- giving you complete credit, of course. The "entry period" will end on Wednesday, the 15th, so hurry fast if you want to help -- I'd appreciate it!
11. FACTION UPDATE 8/31 Small bit of news for now in regards to the factions in the RP. Up until now I've been thinking how best to do the factions for the RP, but couldn't quite figure out how to go about them (at least, in terms of which would be the primary "protagonist" group and the primary "antagonistic" group, so to speak.) Well, I've just decided -- see the following notes for details. The Day Run will be the primary "protagonist" group, though it will be more of a sub faction than an actual faction -- as in, people will use one of the three factions below as their primary faction, and if they so choose, they will also be able to participate in the Day Run. -LEADER: Kerid; Ehjoras. -NPCs: Zanth, Suya, Elithes, Illuxio. The Ring is the primary antagonist group, as their conflict with the Day Run and the KNPD is central to the plot of the RPG. -LEADER: Lyxek. -NPCs: Vailian. Kai-Nam Police Department has an unknown affiliation -- publicly they are seen as good guys, though many Kai-Namians are suspicious of them and their intentions because of unruly acts committed by Lurinost and her group. Is 'sided' with the Day Run in the conflict against the Ring. -LEADER: Unknown entity. -NPCs: Lurinost, Sanshou, Sensha. The Civilians are the civilians of Kai-Nam, as the name suggests. They are essentially the 'neutral' group in the RPG, and those players who are not affiliated with the KNPD or the Ring will automatically be considered a member of this group in addition to the Day Run, if they specify that they would like to participate in it. -LEADER: N/A. -NPCs: Elithes, Illuxio, Zanth, Suya. A fifth group will be introduced at some point in the RPG and one of these four will also receive a rather big expansion later on, but those are secrets I'm keeping to myself for now, * * * * * UPDATE: As I have thought about and changed several things I have decided to update and bump this entry. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Updated List: Returning from Night Ride -Several characters -- Illuxio, Elithes, Kerid and Ehjoras. -Mechas and vehicles in general. -A tournament, though not as big as the Night Run was. Most aspects of the Night Run are included in this, such as teams, arena matches and races. -Team Crests. -Races and arena matches are once again separated. However, the system under which they operate has been changed: --Races will take place on a much longer race track spanning around the wastelands of Kai-Nam (basically the outer rim of the island.) However, the races will not be as big as before -- they will now only be between 2-3 teams at a time, so as to decrease confusion (a major problem last time, due to the large number of posts occurring at once.) --Arena matches will take place in the arena. These include a lot of variations -- Team FFA (2+ teams,) Siege (4+ teams divided onto two larger teams,) Team vs. Team (2 teams,) and several more. The arena will also be used a LOT more than in the original RPG. New additions -New characters -- Lyxek, Lurinost, Zanth, Suya, Sensha, Vailian, Sanshou among others. -An all new location: Kai-Nam, plus three smaller islets off of the coast of it. --The main city of Kai-Nam (not yet named.) -The Day Run -- the new tournament that was mentioned before, managed by Kerid and Ehjoras. -The Ring, a gang on Kai-Nam led by Lyxek. -An as-yet unnamed law enforcement group of which Sanshou and Lurinost are members. -New teams in the Day Run -- mostly player based, though Zanth, Suya and Sensha are members of such teams. -A new, easier-to-keep-track-of points system for the Day Run. Not returning from Night Ride -Most of my characters from Night Ride -- Kovian*, Jaeda/Daeja, Tox, Sepcret*, Dagaeris, Existence, Gallum, Ilun, Therapon, the Makuta who helped defeat the Feranaki. -Gynel. -The Night Run. -The Day/Night system, as it will not be needed for the events in this RPG. *Due to recent developments these two may appear at some point, though I have not decided. * * * * * As shown in this entry, I've had the introduction to the RPG written up for a while. I have since updated it. For length, I have spoiler'd it. Updated Introduction: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Darkness lay all around, everywhere that it could touch. All was still. ...Whispers spoken in a language long forgotten emanated from nothingness. They breathed it out, chanting softly at first, though gradually growing in intensity. ...“Rhashahk…” ...An orb of darkness appeared in the center of the coiled creature. Laces of shadow broke off now and then as it started to spin; as it continued to grow in size, the orb became more stable, until nothing broke away from it. ...“Rhashahk!” ...The orb swirled, stretching upward. It solidified moments later, transforming into a flower not yet bloomed… ...“Rhashahk! Rhashahk!” ...As the creatures edged nearer, the flower blossomed. Its petals were a bright red, shining through the darkness despite the lack of light. A much smaller ring of red hovered above it. The plant gave a shudder, two leaves growing from its stem. ...“RHASHAHK! RASHAHK!” ...The leaves turned, revealing their bottoms to be that same, eerie red color. They seemed to glow; a hiss sounded from the flower, and the creatures were silenced. The leaves, now very much like a pair of eyes, blinked, weariness evident in them. They closed, and the cavern was thrown back into darkness... ...“All right; I’ll make one last offer, Kerid: Forty thousand, plus information on how to get into the Kai-Nam labs,” the Toa of Sonics offered, standing up so quickly that his chair toppled over. The Steltian he addressed paid no heed, instead simply continuing to watch the events below. “Come on – that’s more than enough to compensate you for what it took to build this dump, and you could do so much more with it, too!” ...“They’re quite skilled, aren’t they?” Kerid asked, as far below Zanth’s mecha dodged an energy blast from a member of the opposing team, only to retaliate with a shot of electricity to their front wheel. It was obvious that she was ignoring him. “I’ve always admired the effort they put into making a performance entertaining; yet even with a job like yours and mine, you never get used to watching it…” ...“You’re stalling; knock it off before I really get mad,” the Toa said spitefully. While she could see why he was angry, she was not going to back down – if anything, she loved it here, considering that the Day Run had done nothing but help the local authorities apprehend dozens of criminals since its formation. ...“If you had been on Gynel a year ago, Lyxek, and witnessed the horrors of that place, then you would understand,” she said simply, turning her attention back to the battle below. “Unfortunately you weren’t. A shame if ever there was one – you would have been a perfect host for the Feranaki – they loved greed…” Lyxek fumed at this. “This is your last chance, Kerid.” ...“And you have my answer. Now get out of my sight before I decide to include you in this match.” The Toa growled, swiping his cape and hat out of his seat. He covered his face with the rim of the latter as he clipped the former onto himself. “You’re going to regret that decision soon enough...” With a menacing flash of his eyes, he left, his cape swirling behind him as a cloud of foreboding passed unheeded over the Day Run organizer. 12. ...“You… What are you doing here?” the Toa demanded, taking a step forward. The Toa of Ectoplasm before him, her armor battered, dented and burned in several places, merely crossed her arms and tilted her head down, still not looking at him. His eye twitched, and he clenched his fists. “You died on Gynel; no one saw you leave, and there’s no way that you could have survived the Brotherhood’s purge of the island. Either you’re smarter than I initially thought and found a way off without being killed or someone else had a part in it. Now answer me – how are you here!?” ...The Toa turned around, staring him straight in the eye, sparks meeting between those two pairs of glowing orbs -- one purple, the other icy blue. A sly smile was plastered upon her Mask of Psychometry. “I think you know the answer to that already,” she said coldly, raising her hand. Ectoplasm floated from it, swirling above her palm. “I’m as close to a ghost as any living being can be… and everyone knows that ghosts can’t die.” A little spur of the moment piece. But what could it mean? Hm....
13. Toa Lyxek, leader of The Ring. A Toa of Sonics, Lyxek abandoned the life of a true Toa after nearly being killed in battle by a Dark Hunter. The cure is unknown, though some believe they know what can reverse its effects.
