So I won a $50 WalMart card in a raffle, so I used it to buy a Rayven and Vortex Proton. The Rayven is cool and shoots pretty well. I like the glowing darts a lot. Good to finally have a semi-automatic blaster. It's absurd with the 35-drum attached I bought the Proton because I wanted to see what the Vortex blasters were like, and it's the smallest and cheapest. It didn't disappoint. I haven't been able to test the supposed 60-foot range, but from what I've seen from firing it indoors I don't doubt it. (e: after a quick range test outside, I can say that yeah it can definitely reach 60 ft., the only problem being that the discs are a bit slow) It's wider and more boxy than dart guns, but it's no bigger than a Maverick (and it's a bit shorter). I like the way it loads, too, even if it isn't the fastest way of doing it. Also it's snowing, what the heck.

Some guy was selling a Raider for $20, drum and stock included. I bought it. The drum is big. And now I have a stock for my Alpha Trooper. I'm still a zombie, but I like it anyway.

Pretty good gun. I haven't had any major jams in the time I've messed around with it. Everything seems smooth. Sometimes the slam handle can get stuck but you just have to repeat the priming motion to fix it. The spring is kinda noisy. It vibrates or something when a dart is fired. Slam firing is pretty good. Seems to shoot the darts just as fast if not faster than the single-shot mode. However, it does mean that you have to be holding the slam handle in the forward position for it to shoot, because if you let it go it'll slide back like a millimeter and the trigger won't work. Definitely not a one-handed gun, but its size would probably clue you in on that anyway. The 18-dart drum is nice. Gets a bit tight when it's near capacity, though. But other than that it'd make a great clip substitute, since it isn't as big as the 35-dart drum. Some of my darts are already nicked on the back end, so I hope they last until I get back to school and pick up the dart packs I ordered. Overall it's a decent gun with a great firing rate, and it'll definitely be seeing some use.

SO. For the next semester's game of HvZ I want to prepare early. Like early early. So I was thinking in addition to the Maverick and Secret Strike (and other, defective Secret Strike) that I bought for last semester's, and the Magstrike and ancient yet still functional single-shot gun I had at home (but didn't bring), I'd get another gun. One with controlled rapid fire. Originally I was thinking a Raider, because hello 35-dart capacity. But then I read through the reviews and switched my preference to the Alpha Trooper, because it supposedly gets better range and it's about $15 cheaper. It has less than half the capacity, though, so I was thinking of getting the Flip Clip refill pack, which would then give me two six-dart clips and an additional 30 darts. But then I was thinking hey, if I'm getting a bunch of streamline darts, might as well go all-out and replace all my suction and tagger darts with them, so maybe I'll buy that 100-dart pack. So in total that'd be about $55 worth of Nerf, which I'm not sure I want to spend. I was thinking about cutting out either the Flip Clip pack or the 100-dart pack, but I'd like to have the extra clips when I'm on the move, and I'd also like to have plenty of darts so I don't have to worry too much about losing them. There are spare 18-dart drums available, but they only come with the necessary 18 darts and they're $5 more than the Flip Clip pack. So, Nerf fans, what should I choose? All three? Pick two? Ditch them all and go for just sock flails?
