The use of the double pin/axel piece at the front doesn't work for me, but the pins at the back look brilliant. I think most of all it would benefit from the addition of another colour, and less generic lego pieces. I find transparent parts work well for this kind of thing in small amounts. And 2008 sets had a lot of good parts for this kind of thing, the Phantoka Jet Packs and Wings, Mistika turbines and fin pieces. If you're sticking with a single colour, I'd recommend using perhaps silver or grey instead, as the solid black look doesn't work that well.
