Dralcax
So, this is my theory on how mask powers are used.Compare a Kanohi to a USB device for a minute. Like a USB, the Kanohi interfaces with the Toa. The Kanohi contains a special form of energy. This is channeled into a special part of the being. In most beings, this gives them energy. But, in Toa and Turaga, something special happens. The Toa Power modifies that part, allowing access to the potential within a Toa. The Kanohi's energy goes there and acts as a key, borrowing some of that energy. Then, the programming of the Kanohi kicks in. Then, the Kanohi-wearing Toa has access to the "willpower" part of the Toa's own programming. The "willpower" coding acts as a control to the "Kanohi" program, which manipulates the energy to either alter physics (Miru, Kadin, Vahi, Huna, Kualsi), one's own body (Pakari, Akaku, Ruru, Pehkui), or simply screw with other programs (Ignika, Suletu, Komau). Siriol
That's an interesting theory. It certainly sounds plausible, especially considering that the matoran/toa/etc . . . were meant to be little more than drones. Maybe since the "glitch" occurred, the willpower part of the brain was less easy to access. With the introduction of personalities and individual thought, the "computer" systems could be less straightforward - hence toa having to "learn" how to use their masks. Quote '"White!" he sneered. "It serves as a beginning. White cloth may be dyed. The white page can be overwritten; and the white light can be broken."'"In which case it is no longer white," said I. "And he that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."--- Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings
