Or how I learned to stop theorizing and hate the canon
In the game of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, you can play as two characters. Marisa and Reimu. At the end you storm the Scarlet Devil Mansion and fight Remilia. If you're playing as Reimu then they become freinds and go have tea over at Reimu's. Given that Reimu's ending in Perfect Cherry Blossom features Remilia having tea over at Reimu's this would lend support to the idea that the Reimu ending is canon
HOWEVER
There is an extra stage in which you return to Reimila's house, the scarlet devil mansion, and fight Remilia's younger sister Flandre. In Marisa's extra scenario, she tells Flandre she'll introduce her to Reimu and then Flandre can finally have a friend. This would suggest that at some point Reimu and Flandre would become friends.
HOWEVER
Marisa's extra scenario only makes sense if her normal scenario were canon and she stormed the Scarlet Devil Mansion and defeated Remilia
To make matters more confusing, Patchouli, who lives at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, is considered a good friend of Marisa which only makes sense if Marisa's regular story is canon. Also, Marisa is often paired with Flandre in fanon, not Reimu.
