I've been asked where "Voltex" came from. What it is, how I came up with it, why do I use it, and so forth. So here's a short blog entry detailing it.
I was recently away for a month at a Leader in Training program at a camp I go to. At this camp, each LIT and staff member is given a special "camp name", one that nobody has ever -or will ever- have. It has to do with legacy, and leaving your mark. That said, "Voltex" is mine.
I am a storyteller, as should be evident by my rank title. I also ran a session on storytelling while I was there, and so they related me to Shakespeare. From Shakespeare they went to Benvolio from Romeo & Juliet, which I shortened to Volio. However, Volio doesn't quite have the ring to it I was looking for.
I worked with some friends, shifting the letters around, and came to Vortex. It wasa perfect, but unfortunately someone had already taken the name. I went cheap and shortened it to Tex, working in a Red vs. Blue reference, but to no avail- Tex was taken as well.
I pondered for a day and then decided to combine Volio and Vortex- that's how I got Voltex.
And there you have it.
