The fad has died out, though. Which isn't to say that there are less fans, or that they aren't genuine fans, simply that the attention on MLP has largely calmed down. Back in the height of the fad the official topic gained something like three pages overnight, every night, and a lot more people had avs and sigs of it. The same happened with Homestuck. It's how all fads go.

 

That place, however, does have a stupid definition/understanding of bronies. It deserves our disapproving glares.

To be fair, there have been fads of other things on here. I think the pony one is most noticeable because it's not quite on-par with other obsessions that have hit. Not to mention I haven't noticed one as large as this one is, but, it's not even made up of half the active membership.

 

As far as Bionicle gaining popularity among the MLP fans, I think that's an additional opinion based on a very limited view.

This actually happened to another group(Which I'm pretty sure is not allowed to be mentioned...), that when it first came out, it was the "it" for awhile. But people calmed down and relaxed about the whole thing.

But most bronies aren't watching it or doing it just because it's a fad, they have a genuine interest in it.

The "fad" was the period when everyone and their mothers got into the show and started sporting its images as avatars and sigs, and names. The term in this context simply refers to the spike of interest in MLP. Being "more relaxed about it" means just that, the new fans' interest is wearing down to more "stable" levels, so there is less pony content to see. This doesn't have anything to do with the authenticity of their interest, just how it's displayed.

Funny thing is I'm planning on changing my av back to a pony soon.

 

MLP is not a fad and it's here to stay.

The funny thing is that most of the things they're attributing to the "fad" ending could just be the result of no new episodes. I expect the avatars and sigs will be back in full force once season 3 starts.
