More Books?

Indeed, indeed. I was running errands today and thought I'd stop by a used bookstore that I had never been to before and only ~five minutes away from my house.   I only got seven things [lol only -- you'll see why later, but there was actually a very good selection there], mostly due to the price/quality of books. Though I'm being unfair, because these are actually pretty good prices [i'll list the prices] for a used bookstore. It's just that Book Off has really good prices. A row of $1 paperb

Whoa

I posted and saw a Huna next to my name. Totally forgot about that, lol. Which means I don't have a three-year anniversary special.   Let's see if I can type something up really quick:   A darkly clad figured panted as he stumbled down a black, wet alleyway. He grabbed on to a smooth, concrete wall, attempting to catch his breath but started running again as the footsteps behind him neared. He side ran into a tin trash bin and he cursed in pain, but kept on, pushing himself off of the rusted m

Book Review

So I finished Vince Flynn's book Term Limits yesterday, after having started it on Monday. Which is fast for me, as while I'm not a slow reader of actual pages, I do normally take a fair amount of time to read through a book. This, however, was so entertaining that I read over 600 pages in four days, one hundred and two hundred pages a day, depending on the day. Is it bad to neglect homework if you're reading? =P   But anyway, back to the subject at hand, that book really was amazing. I just lo

Decisions

Hmm, okay, so. I know I've probably bored you all to death with every thing I write about my murder story here, but once again I'm having trouble deciding something, so I'm posting my thoughts here. Besides, sometimes just writing things out helps me decide something.   So anyway, I started out of having the team of investigators be NCIS Feds, but the more I think about it and the more I read other books, I'm not sure if I want to do that any more. Here are the pros and cons of using NCIS or t

It's Time To Say Goodbye

It's been a good [nearly] three years here on BZPower, but unfortunately my time ends here. School is just way too busy and I no longer like BIONICLE or BZPower -- I mean, this is a kids site after all.   Thanks to everyone for such a great time. =]           >>   <<   Or not. =P   But I do still have to say goodbye, just not to you guys. Today my brother entered the Norbertines [a religious order of Catholic priests -- in other words, he joined the Seminary]. Which basically

Score!

So I was talking to my friend a couple weeks back about books and writing and such. Then we got in to used books stores and how a bunch were closing and all that [a few within several minutes from my house]. Anyway, he knew of a good one like twenty minutes from where I lived that had really cheap books and a really good selection [and also good quality].   Well, I finally went there today. I got ten books for ~$12: A Cry In the Night -- Mary Higgins Clark. Got this because she spoke at my brot

Oh No

School starts in less than 11 hours!   Where has the summer gone?   Sigh.   So uh. Yeah. Expect my activity to lessen from now on. =P   Also, ready . . . set . . . book suggestions!   I was looking through that old entry of mine, and realized that I still haven't read most of the books people recommended there. Well, I hope to go to a used bookstore soon [book Off], and supposedly they have a lot of books for like a buck each, so I hope to buy a bunch.   - Velox

What I Love About San Francisco

The Weather [yes, capitalization is necessary]. Oh. My. Gosh. It's like, always foggy, and if not, it's always cold. <3 Unfortunately, however, I hate the city itself. Like, if Los Angeles [the perfect city =P] had San Francisco weather [the perfect weather], then that would be amazing.   Anyway, I just spent the day there, going to Ghirardelli Square, a used book store [The Green Apple, if anyone's curious], my aunt's house [unfortunately my uncle wasn't there (her husband), but my other u

What I'm Doing This Summer

1. Getting my freakin driving permit. I've put this off far too long [i mean, I could have my license in two days (I'll be 16) if I wanted to, but I haven't started anything yet].   2. Writing 750 words a day, at least. There's this awesome site where you write 750 words a day, and after each day, it'll show you frequently used words and some other stats [there's also badges you can get for completing this however many days in a row and stuff]. I would link to it [really, it is an awesome site

Preston Stormer

Not exactly my favorite set, but not bad [William Furno definitely looks a lot better from DV's review]. Also my first time using a black background instead of white -- I'm still not pleased with some of the pics I took, but most turned out alright. Anyway, since I finished taking pics yesterday, I'll start on a review some time next week.   -Velox

Why Does This Always Seem To Happen?

Whenever I write a short story, or get an idea for a short story and start planning it out, I work a lot the first time I work on it, but afterward I never feel like working on it.   A few nights ago I was sitting in bed somewhere around midnight not all that tired and decided to write so I pulled out a notebook/pen and wrote out part of a short story and outlined the rest of it. Personally I am quite fond of the idea, and think it's pretty cool. But, as what always seems to be the problem wit

The Importance Of Being Earnest

So we read the play a couple weeks ago in British Literature class. It's pretty good.   I'll tell you one thing, though. It's extremely hard to try and explain it to someone in just a few sentences. My first attempt [spoiler'd for those that haven't read it before]:   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «So there's this guy that has two names, and his friend also has two names [one for the country, one for the city]. Then the second guy takes on of the first guy's names to visit

A Penny For Your Thoughts

Yes, this is another blog entry about my murder mystery story. =P   Anyway... I'm still stuck on what short of team Velox & Co. [in their human forms, obviously] should be on. I really like the idea of being on NCIS, and I kinda think I'd write the best with that, but the only problem is that I'm not sure I should do that. Just because of the whole NCIS TV series and such.   I dunno, it's hard to explain, but for some reason it doesn't seem right doing it, but at the same time I really wan

Which Would You Rather See?

Now this doesn't mean I'll do whatever one wins, but I am just curious as to which option you would rather see:   A -- A series [or just one story] of Murder Mysteries set in a BIONICLE world with Velox, Jural, Iavo, and others as the investigators -- if anyone knows the characters of Velox, Jural, and Iavo, you will know that they were all on the same team once and were the "police" of their city. Modernized, and more humanized.   Or   B -- A completely human series [or just one story] of M

Decisions, Decisions

Any of you remember that murder mystery idea/prologue I posted before?   Well, there are several reasons why I have not worked on it any further than I have. One of the reasons is because I'm not sure which idea I like best for the detective. So I will be listing all my ideas, and I'd appreciate if you'd list your choices from one to five [1 being your favorite choice, and 5 being your least-favorite].   -A specific police detective -A private investigator -Just normal police [so the detecti

Murder Mystery

Okay, so, for a long time now I've wanted to write a murder mystery [thanks to Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, and the old TV show called "Columbo"].   Now I have finally started it, finishing the prologue today [and of course, thanks to Nuju for pointing out a few mistakes for me]. This also is one of my entries for this "week's" [since this time it's longer than a week] exercise.   It currently doesn't have a title, but if you guys have any ideas I'd like to hear them. Not sure when I'll

Kiina

Only one word describes her: Awkward.   I don't really see how she's seen as proportionate, either. The torso is too short, and the arms seem to be too long. Then there's the torso itself that's just awkward. And then the helmet. It looks pretty cool, but not feminine -- less so than the Kaukau Olda and Faxon. Her double-sided trident is odder than just a single one with an extended pole [not that I'm complaining, as that is a lovely weapon]. And then her armor. I half like it and half don't l

Gelu

:: ::  Since my PMship is still here, and I just got Gelu [late Christmas present], I thought I may as well ramble on about him. I may do a review some time, but maybe not.   Anyway, when I first had finished building him [which took, what, less than five minutes?], I was disappointed. He looked cooler in the pictures, you could say. But then I started to play around with him, pose him, move his helmet around, etc., and now I like him a little better.   He looks good, definitely, which is

Pahrak

:: ::  So I got my first Bohrok [i don't have any Kal either] today from Toa_Ausar -- Pahrak. I must say, he is quite a nifty set, and they are quite adorable. I love how he can form into a ball.   My next goal is t get a Rahkshi [as I unfortunately do not have any of those, either], and then to finish my Mata collection [all I have is Kopaka]. Then maybe the rest of the Bohrok and Rahkshi, but it'd be nice to have at least one of each bad guy each year, as well as all the Mata/Nuva [the Nuva

Rahkshi Star

:: ::  So I finally took some pics of the Stars!Rahkshi, and hopefully I'll write up the review soon. In the meantime, I'll leave you with a pic of all the Stars, as well as one of the Rahkshi:   ::   Pic quality isn't all that great, but it was darker today than I like it, so...   I'll probably do Nektann next [who may be my least favorite], though maybe Tahu.   If there's one you'd specifically like to see, then I'll do that one next, otherwise, I'll just get to all of them whenever

To The Stars

:: ::  My collection of Stars is now complete. Of course, now that means I must review them.   I do hope to indepthly review each with spiffy pictures and all that, but for now [considering I'm not at home and on vacation for the next couple days], you'll have to do with just quick notes on each. For the most part, I am quite pleased. But enough of that. I believe I've already talked about Tahu and Takanuva [both of their masks are the main problem -- too small for Tahu, and should be white

Because I Think It Should Be Addressed Again

:: ::  So I was going through stuff on my computer, and I came across an old MSWord document that had this blog entry by Primus.     Those really are words of truth. Especially the bolded parts.   On another note, I like how whenever there's a BBC Contest so many people have banners over the size limits. It makes it easy to find sigs to report.

Writers' Club

Please read this entry.   :: ::  Welcome to the Writer's Club! The BZPower Writers' Club is a group of writers that have gotten together to help each other improve their literacy skills as well as discuss their story ideas. This entry may be used for discussion of the club or of literature in general; I'll probably make another entry for writing ideas/discussion, and I'll be making a Library entry soon [please post your works there!].   Purpose  The purpose of the Writers’ Club is to get

Sigh

:: ::  I really want to write something, but I don't know what, and I don't feel like writing the five things that are already in-the-works.   Inspire me?   In other news, I hope to get the Writer's Club started by the end of next Sunday; I still would like a few more people to officially join, though [you can post here if you want to].   And on Wednesday I take the PSAT. Good news is that I get out of school at 11:30. Bad news is that I have to take a boring test.   Also, Midterms are
