November was insanely stressful, with tons of work, also related to going abroad for the last few days to join a workshop on... science-y stuff. So that's why I wasn't around that much. ^^' and now it's almost Christmas. Where did the time go?
It's certainly been a while. I'm okay with that, tho. :> though my 13-year-old self would think I am old now. Come to think of it, when I joined was when I still mostly wore bright colourful stuff instead of these days' mostly black attire xD Already had the glasses and the long hair, however. Art-wise I do hope I've improved over the past years. Why bringing this up? Because it was due to the splendid stuff im GA that convinced me to draw regularly. Yay. So I'm kinda glad this place i
if anyone wants a review of their stuff, please let me know! It's been ages since I last wrote something like that, plus I don't know if people even want art reviews these days or if an "awesome!" is all that is desired. -- but seriously, it's a bit awkward to just type up a longer thing. Why didn't it feel like handing out unsolicited advice so much when I was a kid/teen? o.o On the other hand, nothing's more sad than posting art and having nobody react to it because nobody even knows it i
am done with Yugioh GX (the dub, anyway), and started watching 5Ds. No real opinion on that yet. But I was surprised by how much I enjoyed GX overall? Looking back, especially the first season. Now if anyone wants to guess my favourite GX character, that might be fun :>
Normally there are seasonally recurring themes in my art. One of them is that in summer, more fairies turn up. Not this summer. Coincidentally it's also the first time I didn't have a large summer break. I guess these are connected somehow, because Fall's Vampires showed up pretty much on time. ^^' Art-wise, things are looking up. Coloured pencils can be used again! Plus ove rthe past two months I improved my 'posture' while drawing, i.e., the way I hold the pencil, and it's all less cramped.
Tried a small thing with coloured pencils, and it'S starting to work for me again, if I hold the pencil differently than what I am used to apply less pressure per layer go super slow and take breaks aka I need to be extremely cautious, so it's not back to everyday medium again - but it's improving and I am happy about it.
eh idk stuff is going slow at the moment, and I really miss my summer holidays. Starting work in June sucks. ;D On a more serious note, thought I'd update you on the Gouache. I am still struggling. So. Hard. But here's a sunflower I painted (click here for slightly larger version): though admittedly, without references or anything. Just what I think a sunflower might look like. ^^' because I was so out of ideas... idk. I still have a hard time achieving the effects I want, because obvi
... because my finger is still not alright again, and using coloured pencil just seems to straun that one joint so much it actually hurts. Regular drawing doesn't, though, and neither does painting. So I guess I'm doing that for now? Started working with gouache and watercolour, and that's so much different to my usual approach that it is rather intimidating. but hey, I still fill a sketchbook page per day, so that's a plus.
nothing much has happened, apart from me starting my PhD studies So technically a lot has happened since the last update, but at the same time I am underwhelmed. Also because a lot of puzzle pieces are still missing. Like my work contract :3 buut I've got my insurance and I'll also get paid, so.... it's okay, I guess. In the meantime I'll read up on stuff and start looking into the programming parts. Can't say I'm unhappy.
bureaucracy galore. Can't say I'm a fan. On the contrary - it stresses me out way too much, that's definitely something I need to work on. At least my finger is almost okay again (dunno if I mentioned that, I overstrained it when studying for that final exam. Because the only way I remember stuff is by writing it down... ;n; ) - and I am pretty much done with my sketchbook. Before half of the year is over. Achievement! Now I just need to scan some of it as well ^^'
tbh I have absolutely -no- clue where the time went. It feels like that last entry was only a day or two ago... and my birthday's already coming up mext week, it's unbelieveable However! My thesis is almost finished. Should be done by the end of the weekend, the latest. 60 pages of "it didn't work and I'm not sure why" xD But I learned a lot, and it was a cool experience. Even the writing part, tbh. After all I decided that I want to write it in English (second language! but practise is supe
would anyone be interested in a sketchbook tour (or 30? I have so many of those...)? Because I am sort of contemplating starting a youtube channel or something later this year (once I am finally settled into my PhD studies - things are looking good!)...
draw. Every - oh wait, we've been through that. Anyway, how do you draw every day? Two things. First, form a habit of drawing. It should not be a 'chore' or burden, but something you just do. Whether you're inspired or not. Whether you have a cool idea, or none at all. It's just a thing you do. Like brushing your teeth every day (hopefully) Second, find a time slot to devote to drawing. I mostly draw while commuting to and from university. 20-minute subway rides are great for that. And while
Draw. Every. Day. Even if it's just random doodles, and no studies or super-finished pieces. And this thing with not having any ideas? It gets better after the first few pages. You eventually get accustomed to producing some form of output every day, even when you're not inspired. ^^
well I did my two presentations and the interview. Now all I can do is wait for the decision. but tbh I am just so much more relaxed now, because I really did everything I could and the whole thing is no longer in my hands.
See, 2018 is a weird year because a lot of things that matter a lot to me are officially about 10 years old now. What they are? I am preparing something for a proper celebration, so you'll find out later (way to build a hype, huh? xD) Anyway, I've been around this site for such a long time, 10+ years now. I remember this place in its heyday, when I would just talk to -so- many people (being a really communicative 13-year old with way too much free time...). I would start writing an Epic, which
