Intuition: fishers posts too much on the forums, and needs to back off/ give the place breathing room.

Pie/Graphs:

First off, let's see how this breaks down.

I am not surprised. :P S&T is awesome.

Next, I must consider the amount of percentage of topics in each forum versus the total amount in each forum, and also the amount of topics I post in compared to the total amount of topics on the board.

13157272063_6e9b8ea152_c.jpg

Note that this is all under 60% of all topics in all forums. So this means I have posted in 55% (I have the #s) of the topics in S&T. Keep in mind that BS01/HS01 and LRPG have very few topics. If I posted in one topic in those forums, it would throw the stats way off. Let us consider again:

Lego RPG - Posted In: 5 topics, Topics Started: 0, Percentage: 41.67%

BS01/HS01 - Posted in: 8 topics, Topics Started: 0, Percentage: 47.06%

Lego RPG has a grand total of 12 topics. BS01/HS01 has 17. Given that low volume of topics... :shrugs:. If you've visited either forum, chances are you've seen me. But probably comes part and parcel with the nature of those forums. I posted in 3 out of 10 Lego RPGs, and visited two planning topics occasionally. And BS01 is a slow moving forum, so I occasionally look in there, find something to post a one-line thing, and leave. Kinda like BBC/SBC/GA, except there's so few topics it's a wash. Maybe it's flimsy reasoning, but I'm going to throw these two out.

At the other end, there's Media, S&T, Lego General, and GD. My favorite forums. These things are massive. 30% of 300-something topics is not significant. There's still the other 70% of topics in which to hide. Alternatively, 30% of 300 topics is a LOT of topics, which is a lot of opportunities to put my face on the board index. Odds are that if you have visited any of these three forums, you have a 30% chance or higher of seeing a post by me. But isn't that true of half the people who post in those forums now? I don't know. 30% is not 100%.

The only real argument one could have for an "overwhelming" presence would be in S&T, where your chances of avoiding me are slightly less than half. Considering that I knocked off S&T during a three-month downtime and these stats are all time, I'm guessing that your current odds of avoidance would be slightly lower. My answer for that? Too bad.

Yeah, that's right. Too bad. Have no plans to give the place up or reduce my amount of posting. You would have to ban me first.

That's not logical, but if I was not posting in S&T I would not have stayed all those years ago. If I'm not posting in S&T I have very little reason to stay here at all. Sure, I have a few fanfics I follow, some interest in the other stuff going on, etc, but it probably wouldn't be enough to keep me coming back, day after day, week after week, year after year. So I'll probably be there until the last S&T topic is closed. And then I'll probably stare at it until B6 closes the forum down for inactivity, and try to back up every single topic, and remember until there is no more remembering left to do. :( Some things you just can't fight your mind on.

I'm getting off topic. Back to numbers.

13157271933_3337031796_c.jpg

Don't be fooled. The top of this graph is 6%. In terms of starting topics, I'm no better than the rest. The higher percentages being in Media, S&T, LGD, and GD are no surprise, although I started more topics than the aggregate in LGD. But this is all under 6%, and in terms of most forums, under 4%. There are less topics in Comedies; right now I have exactly the same amount of epics and comedies posted, and most of the comedies are one-shots on par with SS; Drake is my only epic comedy to date. (That will change, but I doubt that will throw the stats much.)

Not significant enough. (If I weren't in such a weird mood, I would call 5% of all topics in LD an achievement.)

And now for the grand total: *drumroll*

% all topics on the boards posted in by me: 14.07%

% all topics on the boards started by me: 1.08%

*ding*

Conclusion: Myth busted. 86% of all topics on the board don't even have my name in them. I would be flattering myself to consider myself a serious presence on the board.*

*except in S&T and that's ok.

And this is what I think about when I'm supposed to be doing homework and/or coding up the Greg Categories lol.

When I first started reading this I was all like, "Nah, their's no such thing as posting too much." And then I saw the pie charts...

So yeah, not quite sure where you got your numbers from, but I think you could have a future in accounting or book keeping, or anyplace where you need a mass of info put into nice little pie charts.

I certainly don't think you post too often. On the contrary, I love reading your posts because it's clear you think hard about them and really do a good job trying to understand various perspectives.

Then again, I don't spend a lot of time in S&T. Only if I happen to see a question I think I have an answer to.

Where I got the numbers:

Basically I just used the menu and counted it up.

Although since there were multiple pages, I counted thirty topics per page, minus the last page which I hand-counted.

As for the bookkeeping comment, :shrugs:. Recently I've kind of had a fascination with this stuff as a way of correcting faulty brain-errors like the one mentioned above. I'm not really a statistician, so the novelty, etc, will likely wear off.

The illusion that I post too much is probably the from tendency I have to "roam" around various forums when bored. I probably read much, much more than I actually post.

Aanchir: Thank you!
