Community Window Taking Off

One of the (many) LEGO activities I am part of includes providing a window display for the local LEGO store. Every couple of months, my local club Greater Portland LEGO Railroaders (GPLR) swaps out a model. The last one was an airport I built. The new one, which we just put in, is a rocket garden with custom LEGO rockets by a couple of club members: Jeremy Rear and Kim Toll.

You can see more pictures on the club's Gallery page. There's a Titan II missile on the launch pad, a Saturn 1B, another Saturn with cutaway, and the lower stages of a much larger Saturn V. There's also an X33 prototype, kind of obscured by the sign.

I didn't actually do anything other than moral support and coordination for this one, but I like the way it turned out so much I thought I'd share with you guys.

Wow, that's a really great job on that. I didn't know who got to make the stuff for those windows, so I know one of them.

May I ask which Lego store? The only one I know of near Portland is the one Tigard (you did mean Portland Oregon, correct?).

Yep, that's the Tigard "Washington Square" store near Portland, Oregon.

Wow. I'm very impressed, it's a well built display. Quite a good use of pieces, and it looks nice in that window-cubby-thing.

I remember when Aanchir and I were younger (I think about 11 or so) and we built an enormous Lego Saturn V rocket. I think it was about 5 feet. As in taller than I was then We were going to take a picture of it for the Mania Magazine (now Lego Magazine), but when we got back down to the basement with a camera, it had fallen down and broken. Oh, the misery!
