  1. So, as it turns out, yes this conceptual gun does have a bullet or two in it, punk. I have the means, I have the drive, but... I'll admit something. The actual writing part... I'm kinda falling flat on. I've got two or three complete story ideas, but that's about it. That just plain doesn't feel like enough. I know there should be more. Why isn't that more coming to me and smacking me upside the head?!? Which is why I turn to you people, once more. I'm looking for scenarios. I'm looking for sparks of plots. Interesting interactions. We've got tons of tinder here: spam, contests, a pirate and a ninja in the same forum, building crazes, and Kex and his crossdressing habits. It just feels like it's been left out in the rain, is all. So c'mooooooooon... help a puffin out?
  2. Fortunately, in the case of Globals, we just get the reports for our specific forums, too. Everywhere else, we have to hunt down the bad stuff by ourselves. Or just get random FAs to point us to it. That works too. In my case, though, that's still reports from GD and BBC... And bulk moderation is a thing of beauty indeed.
  3. I swear, Bink, sometimes the thought crosses my mind that you're trying to take over the whole bloody fandom. Why, I dunno, but the details never really follow the initial thought... London sounds unspeakably awesome. Yes, so 'unspeakably' awesome that it can be heard. Go forth and question question question.
  4. So yeah, I've always wondered... what's the statute of limitations like on personal copyright? At what point does the copyright pass out of the hands of one's parents and into one's own name? Because, you know, everyone winds up in Self-Copyright Court (located somewhere outside Des Moines, if I recall) defending a friend's personal copyright at some point in their life, and I'd like to be prepared. Er... not that I'm in the middle of a case, now. Like I'd do these things by the seat of my pants. Yeah. Oh, and copy/paste is a beautiful combination. You will get nowhere when hosting a contest if you cannot copy/paste like greased lightning. C+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v c+v...
  5. Thank you Kex. .png isn't a magical format that automatically makes your pictures look better, your teeth look whiter and a few more votes fall your way. .jpg is absolutely fine for photographs. Over numerous contests, I have found myself waiting for entry pictures to load that, while technically .png, load as fast (or slow) as .bmp. I can't just skip over it: I have to load it to make sure it doesn't violate any of the rules. It's not a fun experience. Yay .jpg!
  6. Oh, don't worry, I grew out of it in a couple months. I wasn't an ST for too long. Emperor Makuta Master... yeah, the thought terrifies me, too.
  7. Oh, don't worry, guys, I'm already tons better at the old tablet. In fact, that image right there is tons better than I was a day ago. Fear not... legible art is coming soon. And thankie, Toaraga... at least someone has faith in me.
  8. Everyone needs access to a good, random forest. There's tons you can do with 'em, after all. And fish... can't have an ocean without kindergarten-style fish, eh?
  9. As progress should, lest it forsake the meaning of the word itself. Exhibit three: random things. Half general BBC-ish things, half tablet practice. I think I'm getting the hang of this thing. Well, both, really. And messy Tufi-tablet-writing cheatsheet: original shape current shape sigh glaivescythe hate strangulation puffin glaive It's really really really hard to see in the picture, but the princes are wearing what sorta turns out to be tuxedo coats. They don't have either of their tiaras in that one, though Schizo is trying on the Empress's tiara. Yeah. Fun could abound. Fun could really abound here. Look, I even made a new category for all this. That shows commitment. Right?
  10. The scanner lives, the card reader lives, the tablet lives. It is a glorious occasion. And, to celebrate, I bring you pictures. You know, to prove I'm not all talk and no action about this. Which has happened far too many times in the past, I will readily admit. But not this time. Oh no. I have you guys to hold me to things. Exhibit one: some manner of preliminary map. For starters, I wouldn't hold me to anything but the most basic outline of the palace, and maybe not even that. No clue what I was doing there. I know there's a big open garden-type place fenced in by those walls you see there, though. The rectangular-looking part. That much is for certain. Also, minifig feet/legs. Those aren't actually there. And the road to the pollish area should prolly be southward. Otherwise, I present The General Idea. And exhibit two, for the heck of it: in relation to the rest of the Creative Outlet. Come to think of it, I should prolly figure out where all the other forum-type places are. I can't imagine all the action staying in BBC. Oh no. Those other people are plenty crazy too. So? Convinced I'm not just bluffing yet?
  11. He got a blog yay! Thank you for the introduction, person-I-don't-know. Now I feel as though I have known you for a good long while, possibly years. All hail blog!
  12. I don't think sweettalking them will make them slip random rare and funky pieces into your next package. But seriously, they're some mighty grand people. Hard to find service like that elsewhere, I'll say.
  13. Yeah, I've still been thinking about the great BBC Empire comedic fiction multi-whatever project. Just because I haven't exactly 'been' here for the past few days doesn't mean Tufi-thoughts and -things haven't been done. First of all, yeah, multi-whatever. There's the main fanfic-ish thing, of course. It'd prolly be in more of a serial format than one big defined story, where there'd be the individual stories, but they're all on the same continuity plane. If that makes sense. I think I lost my coherency somewhere after 'serial'. But that's the key word here. And then, of course, there's the art, if I ever get that infernal scanner hooked back up. And then... well... oh, there's no easy way to say this... something with those sprites I work on every blue moon or so... comic. There. Yeah, you heard me. This, in turn, would prolly be some sorta blog-only thing, because I simply do not trust myself to keep a topic like that alive. No, much better if I release an arc all at once every so often. And yes I do so have ideas for what these stories would be. Naturally, the written bits would be bigger and tons more substantial, and the sprite thing would cover smaller, lighter things. Yes, continuity would be maintained between the two. Love that continuity. You tend to develop an affinity for continuity when you're the kid of a scriptie. Maybe I'll scratch something out for practice soon. Hn. Possibly. Yes.
  14. Joy on both counts. Joy for the anniversary, and joy for a successful profile alteration... Which, come to think of it, is the total opposite of Three Years Ago, since it's everything but the title and I totally expected it. Funny that.
  15. Yayness. Alright, so maybe the two sets of circumstances aren't that similar, but they both involve July 15th and the editing of the profile... Good enough for me.
  16. Three years ago to this day, a young girl was brought onto the staff(the ST, to be precise) shortly after being hit with a prank. Three years later... 'S'all I'm saying.
  17. Plus, you know, that Tufi chick would definitely kill you if you tried. That's got to be a good reason, too.
  18. Late one summer night, there was a topic... There was a member, but nobody else could be seen around... The member came and left a post, then turned around... but when he turned back to the topic... the post was gone! This is why I never tell the bonfire story at camp. Now I shall provide you with something a bit more technical: Life of a Spam Post -Spam post is posted -If lucky, spam post is reported -Moderator comes across spam post -Spam post is deleted -Spam post ceases to exist Despite all the evidence, I had a friend/failed love interest in Grade Seven who insisted that Darth Sidious and Chancellor Palpatine were two different people. The forum does experience some hiccups from time to time and the occasional post is lost in invisi-post limbo, yes. Much more common these days, however, is the member utterly convinced that their post, where they managed to actually only say 'good work' (if it's even that relevant) in a paragraph's worth of words, actually added anything to the discussion and wasn't spam. Since, you know, only the new are capable of spam, and once you hit a certain length of time on the forum, all your posts are gold. Put effort into your post. Go into depth about things. Elaborate. Please. New members taking their first steps in a whole new community can be forgiven. I expect the more adjusted, established members to know better, simply because they should.
  19. Sounds good to me. That's that no trading back whee! 100% fun polls
  20. I suppose you have... yes, I guess you are getting better. So, no, no glaivescything for you. There is hope for my minions after all! But... but it's still addictive in its own weird way... you do know what happened to the last guy who made me take a break from anything contest-related, right?
  21. It is far too late at night for me to be up. I have not posted an entry in far too long. These two do not make for a stellar combination, though some may present a contrary theory. Oh no. I fully expect to look back on this entry in the morning and make every attempt to forget it ever existed, short of actually nuking it. Why not go the whole distance, I don't know. Yet here I am now. Contest is good so far. Lots of people respecting the rules, lots of good entries, lots of love for the guy. All very good. Of course, we're still far enough away from the polls for everything to be happy. To be specific... prelims. They are an experience all their own, I assure you. You come away from making prelims feeling changed. Also tired. Maybe hungry. They take a while. Snagged me a Belville set last week or so. 7579. First one to make a crack at that gets pain, as do the second, third, and so forth. Yes, I do have plans for all the little bits and things. Especially that fairy. That fairy has massive picture-story potential. And on an unrelated note, glaivescythe. Blades on both ends of the stick. It would be a weapon of pure awesome and win, truly. Now to kick off the regret phase of the whole deal.
  22. Actually, don't be surprised if I take you up on that offer at some point... Your style's pretty darn compatible with my whole vision of things. But gimme a shot at relearning mouse drawing first, okie?
  23. Ah... but he is. And yes, I simply must... Perhaps something... Nah. He's already been as Clikitsed as he can get. Shame, shame.
  24. So I do these things. I have these MOCs, I take pictures of them, I do this in some sort of sequence. Text is added in post-production. End result is a story. Most glorious. It's one of the biggest reasons for the whole Fun With Toa dealie... cripes I still have to take a whole bunch of pictures for that. Anyways. Backlog. I haven't actually posted one of these things for ages... I dunno, I guess I've been too lazy or, in the case of the Festivus story, forgot to post it at some decent time. And after a while, there's just no posting them... they're too old. Just... stale. There's fresher to be found and made and posted. Then the blog came along, where I can post such things without that sensation of oldness ruining things. Hurrah! But first, for the pure heck of it, the one that started it all. Kihnok's still around, actually, though the colours have been rearranged a bit. A little history for you all. Then there was this little thing. Went out one day, had some sets on me, took some pictures. Decided things were best muted. I still love that second shot of the Vahki in the tree. Then one day some years ago, snow fell in Vancouver. This was the One Day of the Year Snow Falls in Vancouver for the year, and I decided to take advantage of things. Also the only story visibly set at night. Actually tons of fun to set up and mash snow into and all that good stuff. And now I leave you with some off-season fun. Why, what else could it be but... a Festivus story. I had plans for one last year, but time was short and I was mountains away from my figures and things. This year, though... Whether I remember to post it is another story.
  25. Muy funky. And sparkly. Hooray for sparklies! Though I'm afraid there's something I must point out... The blade you've got there, deadly as it looks, is ninety degrees off from being a glaive blade... The blade of a glaive is vertical, parallel to the shaft, while a horizontal/perpendicular blade would get yerself a scythe. Frankly, though, it doesn't much matter what it's called... it still looks incredibly deadly. Now you're making me feel guilty about not working on my own project...
