More San Diego Comic Con Reveals

Recommended Posts

There's been some more information released about LEGO's presence at the San Diego Comic Con. Over at The Wallstreet Journal again, they showed off a seven foot tall sculpture of Groot and Rocket Raccoon that will be on display. They also announced that four exclusive minifigs will be given away, one of which will be The Collector. In addition to Rocket's Warbird, there will also be an exclusive set of the Batmobile from the original TV series and a Ghost from the upcoming Star Wars Rebels show. Yahoo! has most of the same info, but also has a picture of the Ghost set and a teaser for an upcoming LEGO Movie set too! All told, there will be over 20 exclusives to the show, including special sets, life-size models, and more.

Aaaaaah there are going to be Lego Movie sets in 2015! I'm so excited, given that I had expected this year's sets to be the be-all and end-all of sets until the sequel several years from now. The one that's been revealed isn't that impressive (it's more of a battle pack than a full-fledged set), but it still looks good, and opens up the possibility for more sets in January.

Slightly disappointed that the exclusive Hobbit figure is Bard the Bowman. I guess his torso and legs are nice, but couldn't they have give us a new character who hasn't show up yet? Like, maybe, Galadriel?

That statue of Smaug is great, though. Wish I was going to see it in person!

We'd be quite unlikely to see Galadriel as an exclusive fig seeing as Lego would probably want to give her a new hairpiece, which would be infeasible for a limited run of 1000 figs. Look on the bright side—if Galadriel had been the exclusive, it'd rule out the possibility of her appearing in future sets, at least in that specific outfit or whatnot. The fact that she isn't could well mean that a Galadriel fig is planned for future sets.
