More recently, on The Hobbit minisite on LEGO.com, the page for the set has been updated to indicate that the set will be available starting October 15th. This is interesting timing, since the next movie doesn't come out until December 17th in the US. I'm sure there will be plenty of marketing in advance of the film that will help drive sales of the set. You've got over two months to save up!
