Bionicle.com Explore Section Revisits the Summer 2016 Story

Recommended Posts

I don't know if any of us were expecting additional Bionicle.com updates this late in the year, but the Explore section has been updated with seven new pages titled "Umarak the Destroyer", "The Great Volcano Rising", "Storm Beasts", "Quake Beasts", "Lava Beasts", "Makuta", and "Ekimu the Great". These are mostly just brief recaps of each character's role and powers in episodes 3 and 4 of Bionicle: The Journey to One coupled with stills from the series, but even so, it's an update that feels long overdue. Follow the link above to browse the Explore pages!

Is this a joke? Link shows the same explore page from earlier this year except this time with broken links. Sad Lego can't even care THAT much about Bionicle....

I saw nothing about "Ekimu the great" or "the great volcano" or "Makuta" just broken links...

You are right that the Explore links for the first half year story chapters seem to be broken. I hadn't tested those since those weren't what I was reporting on. However, all the links for the new chapters are there for me and work just fine. Maybe you need to clear your cache?

Just so you know I'm not pulling your leg, here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing (zoomed out so you can see as many of the new links as possible):

Bugs like this in LEGO.com updates have nothing to do with LEGO not caring. These kinds of bugs are common with site updates for just about all of LEGO's themes, even much bigger and higher-priority themes than Bionicle like City, Friends, and Ninjago. Even people who care deeply about what they're doing can make mistakes.

I spot some strange things about the new Explore stuff rather than the broken links.

1. Storm Beast's section has a new picture of Quake Beast rather than Storm

2. Umarak the Destroyer's section has the first-half-of-this-year information from the other section rather than the information about the Destroyer himself, like his acid powers and super-strength.

3. Quake Beast's section said that the Quake Beasts came from Stone Shadow Traps, but they are purple, and Stone-based characters aren't purple. Earth Shadow Traps are the Traps that transformed into the Quake Beasts, and Earth-based characters are usually purple.

4. Ekimu's section says that he is a Toa, but in The Journey to One, he says he isn't. Is Ekimu really a Toa or not. This is confusing.

I consider these mistakes. I don't know why they happened to be like these, but I find it goofy.

Plus, I think it would be a good idea to also show a section where the Toa won against the Makuta and left Okoto just for the website to wrap the story up (I know it happened in the Netflix show, but I would like to see how the website tells it.).

It worked, thank you Scott.

Was pretty baffled when Ekimu was revealed as the Toa of light after flat out denying it in JtO...

It is odd. I've seen some people speculate that perhaps the story would have run with him being a new Toa of Light if the theme were to continue, and his denial of it was part of the reworked ending when the theme's cancellation became inevitable.
