Visual Kraata Color Chart (and Errors)

There are a lot of Kraata. And I mean a loooot of Kraata. Thirty-six Great Kanohi Masks to collect? That's not impossible. Forty-eight Krana? I like a challenge. But guess how many Kraata there are to collect.

Two hundred and sixteen.

And that's not even counting the ones released with the six main Rahkshi or the Shadow Kraata. I know text-based color guides exist, but I personally have an easier time with visual media than text-based media. (This is a particular issue when I'm on Bricklink. My list of Kraata is by power, but BL's is by color, so I'm constantly cross-referencing the big ugly list.) I've finally taken it upon myself to just superimpose the powers onto a big picture of all the Kraata:

It only took me ten years to get around to actually doing this.

There are, actually, a few errors in the charts (listed here on BZP, on BS01, and in the BIONICLE Encyclopedias). The first one is regarding Illusion/Ice Resistance. The "Bright Yellow" listed for both of them is most definitely Brick Yellow, as in Panrahk's secondary Kraata color.

Additionally, the lists are inconsistent on whether they call gunmetal gray "Dark Gray" or "Dark Gray Metallic." I lean toward Metallic myself, since it is and that's the name of the color used for Vorahk's primary Kraata color. But Plasma/Stasis Field and Shapeshifting/Silence just call in Dark Gray.

I hope this lists makes collecting Kraata a little bit easier for anyone else, and let me know if I made any mistakes in transcribing the lists to the picture. It's 1am and I'm tired, so I probably did.

Also, the Kraata picture I used isn't my own collection (that would be awesome). I only have 13 of the special Kraata. The picture was from an old BZPower article about the first guy to collect them all.

I still don't understand the redundancy of the powers of Darkness and Shadow.

I still don't understand the redundancy of the powers of Darkness and Shadow.

Shadow Kraata do not control shadow. It’s “stage 7” of the kraata transformation. Any kraata can become a shadow kraata; shadow kraata retain their ordinary powers. Theses powers are stronger, and shadow kraata have ge ability to infect kanohi from a distance.

I found another fanmade Kraata chart, but this one has problems. Here it is. In case you've seen it before, this chart mixes up Darkness with Chameleon, Adaptation with Dodge, Limited Invulnerability with Confusion, and Rahi Control with Plant Control. This is because it doesn't properly distinguish between Reddish Gold (Turahk's primary Kraata color) and Sand Yellow Metallic (Panrahk's primary Kraata color).

Question

Is plant control gold going into black or is that molecular disruption?

Plant Control is gold (Reddish Gold) going into black. Molecular Disruption is bronze (Sand Yellow Metallic) going into gold (Reddish Gold).

This will make my eventual attempt to collect them much easier! thanks for the great work :D

Oh my lord it's beautiful

Thanks for the positive feedback. I love organizing stuff like this; if there's any similar visualization project that the fandom might need I might try those as well.

Man, I had forgotten how far the Story Team had to stretch the idea of "42 unique Kraata powers." You have Chain Lightning and Electricity, heat vision and laser vision, sonics and power scream, and illusion and shapeshifting. My favorite on the list has to be the duo of Heat and Ice Resistance. I mean seriously, that's your only power - hope that Kopaka and/or Tahu are the only Toa you have to face and them stab them between the eyes? Meanwhile your brothers can literally alter molecules and density, and go toe to toe with the Bohrok Kal.

On the other hand, at least there was a crude sense of order to the Rahkshi powers. Then 2006 comes along and suddenly the Piraka can pull a new power out of their butt for any given situation, or craft a special Zamor sphere to do the hard work for them.. Like a third of the story that year was just giving time to every single new Piraka, Kanohi, Matoran, Inika and Zamor power. No wonder they never pulled that stunt again.

I have slept for so long. My dreams have been dark ones. But now I am awakened. Now the scattered elements of my being are rejoined. Now I am whole. And the Darkness can not stand before me.

illusion and shapeshifting

Not sure how these are the same, frankly. "Illusion" entails things like making people think you're somewhere you're not or disguising yourself as others, while "shapeshifting" entails actually changing your physical form and using the capabilities the new body gives you. Just pretending to turn into a dinosaur doesn't make you a dinosaur, but if you actually turn into one, you get to do dinosaur things. Whatever that entails.

Rule #2: If you break rule #1, kindly don't.

Rule #3: EVERYBODY TYPE IN THE CHAT "AVAK IS A STUPID TRIGGER"

As I made this, I did really think about how useful the non-offensive Rahkshi would be. I concluded that, logically, if a Makuta was attacking a particularly hot or cold place (like Ta-Metru, or the Ring of Ice around Voya Nui) then Fire or Ice Resistance Rahkshi would make up the front lines to take the brunt of the local defenses, and once the enemy was sufficiently weakened, more powerful Rahkshi would move in. I also realized a lot of these powers wouldn't be too good for soldiers but would make for excellent spies or couriers, like Shapeshifting, Illusion, Silence, and Quick Healing.
