But I'm not about to complain or gloat: Jimmie gloated, and Tim, the commissioner, came up with this story to switch kickers and wide receivers after the fact, creating a tie between the Touchdown Titans (Tim) and the Caribe Sharks (team Martinez), with the Titans having a player left to play tonight.

The Cruisers got absolutely manhandled last week. Now 2-3, three games out of the division lead and a game out of the wild card (with a very rough stretch ahead), my season is just about done.

Amanda & I have a saying that goes back to the Summer Mission in 2001. Actually, it's a saying for the 5 of us, but since we are 2 of the 5, it still counts. The saying: "Never a dull moment."
Well, Saturday, September 8, 2007, was not dull at all.
Saturday was move-in day for Amanda. Her mom, dad, pastor, sister and two nieces, Mikayla (6) and Ally (2) came down from Monroe to help. (The former 3 this morning with a trailer in tow, the latter last night with boxes.)

I didn't get everything done on the model. I'm not officially in limbo, as I discovered two things. Jefferson Parish marked the wrong drawings as record drawings, and left off a vital piece of information in a semi-inconsequential lift station in Bucktown.
Net result is that I have to design pump controls on the fly when I get back. I forgot to import some lines from the G5-

Friday evening, I got to go eat at Rotolo's Pizzeria (not the one in Columbus) in the [French] Quarter with a group from UNO and then go to a game night at a church on Paris Avenue. There were four of us playing other-than-Balderdash: A Tulane student, a NOBTS student, myself, and an architect (the seminary student's husband). We played a round of Clue (I was dealt 3 rooms and a suspect, was nowhere near the solution when the accusation was made.)
For those of you that didn't know, there's a minor league baseball team in the New Orleans area: the New Orleans Zephyrs (though they actually play in Metairie).
Amanda & I like to go out for dates sometimes. Every Friday night, they've got fireworks, and we can also make a slight killing in pulling discarded (er, left unattended) MyCokeRewards bottle caps.

8 months ago, I was much more upset (not vocal, just... perturbed) about seeing Amanda's hair in my dryer vent.
Not quite on the order of seeing Scout's (my brother/sister-in-law's 3 year old pug) hair, but I still had this "this doesn't belong" furrow in my brow.
Now, I see one of her long brown strands, and I smile.

It rocked last night. I even hit the F# in the tower D chord in In the Beginning, and it was all I could do not to fist pump. (I sing by ear, and end up sliding around. I usually can't pick up on thirds.)
My mom said it was worth the 200 mile drive, even if I weren't in the choir. Amanda wanted to clap after the first song, and the two of them were the first two giving the standing O after it was over.
