The River Run

Oh, believe you me, I have entries worth posting. I just don't have time to type them up.   I do, however, have time to relate this to you:   The best fried chicken on the face of the planet is served by a man named Arthur Davis in an old country store in Lorman, MS. Point your GPS to 31° 49' N, 91° 3' W to find it on a service road on US 61.     You will not regret this trip. People from Vancouver, BC, have signed the guest book, saying as much.     More to come later this week, assuming I

I, Hamburger

For those of you that didn't know, there's a minor league baseball team in the New Orleans area: the New Orleans Zephyrs (though they actually play in Metairie).   Amanda & I like to go out for dates sometimes. Every Friday night, they've got fireworks, and we can also make a slight killing in pulling discarded (er, left unattended) MyCokeRewards bottle caps.   This past Saturday, we watched them play the Albuquerque Isotopes, on a pair of complimentary tickets Amanda won back in April whe

Round 2

No zany email today, sorry.   Today's moving items... 3 pieces of luggage and 3 duffel bags a pair of slippers that my little brother and his now-fiancée bought me for Christmas last year (I don't wear slippers, though! ) a laptop carrying case that my parents bought me....without buying me a laptop for it. another 12-pack....strawberry soda a 2-lb jar of strawberry jam ...and an 18 oz. thing of cherry preserves not to mention 2 quarts of the best salsa east of the Sabine River New shower curt

The Revolution Is Now Televised

196 lb, 22.7% body fat   There are times when I get upset about not being able to blog what's on my mind, simply because I don't have time at work. But today is not one of those days. Thanks to the AFL-CIO, today is a national holiday. So, I give you, all 15 of you (give or take), the full form of my weekend today.   Friday, my parents donated the old TV in the living room to me. It's not that old, but I have no cable TV service, so all I get to watch is white snow, and not the Team White Sno

13 Pages Of "huh?"

I bet you're asking what could possibly be that long. (Actually, if you're reading this, I bet you're asking yourself, "What the heck is he posting about now?" I mean, what could justify this blog being bumped up?)   Got my cell phone bill today. Thirteen pages long. $74.53, if anyone wants to help pay it, like, say people that have helped up the bill. (Omi, you owe me 80¢ for the text messages: they're not free on my plan. )   But the thing I like to call attention to the most is on the same

House Of The Moon

No, this entry has nothing to do with my Haloween 2006 entry.     Image screencaptured from the Epilogue of Outlaw Star episode 26, "Return to Space" I should mention I finished watching Outlaw Star last Friday, but I got so tied up with the model, and now that Huntwyck is back (Did it ever really go away?), I haven't had time to say as much.   Out of 26 episodes, only episode 19 "Law & Lawlessness" can be omitted from the storyline. Which means episode 23 "Hot Springs Planet Tenrei"

Nikira Is Awesome

I am KIE, and I recognize this.     Seriously, Niki, my hat is off to you. You have a gift I seem to not have been blessed with. I applaud you, and rejoice.   You too, Smeag.     -KIE

Vote For John

There's a saying in Louisiana that people in New Orleans vote early & vote often. I haven't learned anything about this "voting often", but I did vote early this time around.     In the off chance that it would influence anyone's vote (which it SHOULDN'T: You were the one paying attention the last 10 months. You were the one weighing everything you heard said by and about the candidates. You formed your own opinion on this landmark election season.), From the outskirts of Chocolate City en

Pool: Interrupted

Wow, what a day. Amanda & I have a saying that goes back to the Summer Mission in 2001. Actually, it's a saying for the 5 of us, but since we are 2 of the 5, it still counts. The saying: "Never a dull moment."   Well, Saturday, September 8, 2007, was not dull at all.   Saturday was move-in day for Amanda. Her mom, dad, pastor, sister and two nieces, Mikayla (6) and Ally (2) came down from Monroe to help. (The former 3 this morning with a trailer in tow, the latter last night with boxes.)

Free Agency

4½ years.   Not really by the boards, but I had very serious plans of getting into a groove there. Even thought I was in that groove, but now I'm out.   Pray for me. Pray for us. We need to land quickly.     -KIE

Way Out In Left Field.

This caught me by surprise today. Even though I'm not native here, this brought a tear to my eye.   My non-existant kingdom to be able to participate in that particular contest.     -KIE

Are You Ready For Some Football...part The Seventh

Billy Miller is my hero.   Seriously, though. This game was exhausting. This day was exhausting.   I'm hoarse.   My alarm went off an hour earlier than I wanted: Amanda's parents got off at the wrong exit, and it became a little tricky at the end for them to get to their hotel, where I would meet them last night and again for breakfast. There was still entertainment: a JP (Jefferson Parish) sheriff's deputy was chewing out a couple of girls who decided to crank-call 911.   Such things nev

Welcome, Traveler!

Welcome! ahm, beh, cah, lum, mu, om, ra, summ....   Okay, so I can't pass myself off as a gypsy in Austin City Park. I definitely don't have the right tarot deck. Come to think of it, I don't have any tarot decks.   </obscure reference>   Before anyone jumps down my throat, I was making a reference to Ultima IX: Ascension, a single player RPG published a few years ago by Electronic Arts & Origin Systems. The tarot in question are only 8 cards for the eight in-game virtues, not the

A Matter Of Balance

I saw my first snowflake yesterday.   I've mentioned before that it will snow on rare occasion in south Louisiana. While it did snow two weeks before Christmas 2008 in New Orleans, it also snowed on Christmas in 2004, and to ring in the new year 2001. Before that, maybe something in the late 80's. I'm too lazy to look it up in an almanac now, anyway.   Those of you who know the story that brought me to BIONICLE may also know that I passed a semester of graduate school at The University of Akro

Welcome To K-ville

Afford me a moment to rant.   Not about politics per se, but about local goings on.       Earlier this year, it was announced that Fox would film a new TV series called K-Ville, on location in New Orleans. The series would be a crime dramatization of post-Katrina New Orleans. The pilot episode aired this past Monday night at 9 ET/PT on Fox broadcast stations, and is currently available for free on iTunes. It is rated TV-14.     And I made the mistake of watching it.   Now, I'm not saying one

Are You Ready For Some Football....part The Fourth

Sam Houston High School defeated Patterson High School last night, 21-20. Patterson scored a touchdown with 30 seconds to play, but without a functioning placekicker, they were forced to go for the 2-point conversion. I understand the quarterback option was stopped in the open field inside the 1. However, I left with 2½ minutes to play in the third quarter, with the score tied at 14-14, when it came to me: I really didn't care how this game ended.   Last night was a cross-class social. Opening note: any "approval image" wider than Dokuma's will not be put in the content block: I'm not making the sidebar any wider. Sorry.   Oh, what a weekend to recap. I've been so busy, it's been all I can do to actually stop to write this.     Okay, I haven't been that busy in the evenings, but gosh, time just flies when you're blowing computer-controlled enemies sky high. Or at least 4 stories high.   Yes, Dok, the title "Tunnel" is from the song "Tunnel." It was the theme song for the

Yukon Steamroll

Sorry to have taken so long to post this. Been busy with at TF2 cup competition for a server set I can't link to here because of their forums. Not to mention, 4 fantasy football leagues, and Ultima Online is a better use of my time than, say, staring at a keyboard. I will say this, though: Go <AXE) ! Before congratulating me, make sure you've read the whole of the letter. There are important details.  Also, I may not be congratulated at all: I walked into this office the day after I was lai

Tryptophantic Advent

I'm going home tonight, and don't look to be back until Saturday or Sunday. So, I'll leave you all with a very long, but truly fascinating article that just came in my email, for you all to discuss, of course.   I do care about my rating, by the way, and I'm not happy about people torpedoing it: I've gone from 4.7 to 4.4 to 4.6 to 4.5 right now: if my blog is that bad, please tell me via PM what's wrong with it before bludgeoning the rating.   -KIE

Are You Ready For Some Football....part The Sixth

With apologies to the Eagles fans that frequent my blog (I know of a couple off-BZP.), I have great news: The Saints are going to beat the teal pants off the Not-as-dirty birds Saturday night.   Why does this obvious point warrant a blog entry?   BECAUSE KIE JUST SCORED PLAYOFF TICKETS!   *Ally McBeal dancing baby dance, but with clothes on*   DEII is going to get me a ticket, and Amanda (closest person I have to a girlfriend) her own ticket at face value! ($85) Only requirement is my atte

Metamorphosis

211 lb., 25.2% body fat     Amanda joined a gym last week, and got me to join as well.   I'll be honest: I've been slacking in the weight control department. I'm 20 lb. above where I want to be, and don't even get me started about how much flab I'm carrying.   Still, a gym membership is a route I never expected I'd take. I mean, that's for people who work out, who take this seriously, who have these ridiculously sculpted body profiles like you see on the cover of Muscle & Fitness or one

Making An Impact

201¾ lb. 24.1% body fat   I have three sets of picks this year. My best set is 14-2, and my worst is 12-4, but I didn't lose a single Sweet 16 team.   However, the first Friday has always been the ends of my runs, not the first Thursday. How I do today will determine if this is a banner year or a "same-old-story" year.   In other news, my inbox has been popping lately. Not my PM box but my real, email inbox. Lots of messages RE: BrickFest '07, since we've hit the last 2 weeks before the sho

Seven Swimming Swans For All!

Ooweeee, I leave for a weekend and my blog gets buried.   Well, my bowl picks haven't panned out that well, but they've been only marginally worse than my weekend. Some highlights.   FRIDAY: >I get confronted by one of the tenants on the ground floor, saying the manner in which I go down the stairs is a bunch of words that would get ######ed out. What's more, if I ever do it again, he and I are going to have an adult discussion about it in the street. In other words, he's going to beat t

Unfulfilled

199½ lb, 23.3% body fat   Just for starters: tomato paste   I squandered multiple opportunities to make this post over the weekend, but I feel as though I made the better choice. Since it is now Monday, I figure I should let the lot of you know what became of the past few days.   FBC-Kenner is still undefeated, but we didn't beat Williams Boulevard BC. They scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie it at 5 when the game was called due to time. Last run was walked home on 5 pitches. I k

The Beauty Of A Map

199½ lb, 22.8% body fat (Hey, I guess being sick'll do that for ya.)   Okay, now I'm curious.   Sunday night, I posted a map, in hopes of seeing a bunch of New Orleans pins, or perhaps a pin in Greece or a few in Canadia (BrickFest joke). Instead, I find pins in the Côte d'Azure (French Riviera) and Italy.   But the one pin that intrigues me the most is the one pushed at 9 seconds after 11 AM yesterday: Longville, LA.   Folks, I know where Longville is.   ATTENTION WHOEVER VISITED MY BLOG
