We're just getting the furthest tendrils of it here at home. Lots of wind - some of the gusts are already knocking power out and ripping shingles off of roofs. But it's not horrible. There's lots of family in Point Pleasant and Atlantic City (some of which we haven't had contact with) so we're glued to the phones and the weather reports especially with the eye of the storm over that part of NJ right now. Well seems like Ohio is now recovering from Hurricane Ike (or what's left of it).
Our campus got hit with Category 1 hurricane-force winds on Sunday, knocking down branches and trees, ripping bushes from the ground, tearing shingles off roofs, and totally cutting all of the power for the whole city (as well as most of the state of OH - my family 1 hour away lost their power only two hours later, as well as the folks down in Cincinatti where 500,000 people were left in the dark). Sunday = hectic day for everyone in my house. So, since my mom, dad, and none of us will have any free time until after 1 p.m. tomorrow, we are celebrating Mother's Day today. Already did the classic breakfast in bed and got her some new birdfeeders to replace the ones that are falling apart because of old age.
Later today we're taking her to a conservatory over in Columbus. Very, very pretty. She loves the place.

Oy.
Very tired, very sick, typing out lots and lots and LOTS of PMs (to the senders: please stop sending them... I'm getting to them as fast as I can and you all have gotten your point across >.<), have to plan out a whole bunch of projects, unpack my clothes and wash the smell of cigarette smoke out of them (our neighbor on vacation smoked a bajillion boxes a day and it came up through the vents), work on forms for school, dig out some medical equipment and maybe take a nap.
