Entries in this blog

Well that's disappointing; also, tTH.

So I go to all the trouble of moving my BZP images from Majhost to Brickshelf, and right after I finish telling Makaru that Brickshelf is usually pretty reliable, it decides to stop working. Brickshelf, I am disappointed. Now my blog is back to looking utterly ridiculous.   In other news, go and join The Toa's Hideout. It's what all the cool kids are doing. There are cool things like custom member titles and blogs after 100 posts, and the membership is currently tiny.   There's just one rule in

BrickFair 2015 Recap

Seeing as I have another four hours to wait here in Dallas, I might as well do a quick review of the past few days.   I flew to Baltimore at around midnight on Tuesday night. After a layover in Toronto, I arrived at BWI at 10:00am, whereupon Xaeraz and his dad picked me up on their way to BrickFair. A good amount of laughter and like-minded political discussion took place, in particular whilst driving by NRA headquarters.   Our timing turned out to be impeccable, as we arrived at BrickFair almos

Two measures of Gordon's...

For some reason I've really been enjoying spy/espionage/secret agent movies lately. Aside from the Bond, Bourne and Mission Impossible films, what are some other good ones?   (MI 2 excluded from list of "good ones" because it was terrible.)   -Letagi

Attn: Brickcon Attendees

I seem to have lost a small bag of BrickArms containing several purple and blue sci-fi weapons, a camouflaged sniper, and some sort of tan gun (can't remember exactly which, but it was a prototype). I also can't find my Series 2 surfer. I think I've PMed a few of you about this but if I haven't I would appreciate it if you could take a quick look through your stuff, as I think I put in someone else's bag by accident. Thanks. -

Finally

Majhost is working again!   ...   Kidding, I just uploaded all my BZP images to Brickshelf.   In other news, I finally joined BioniLUG. Which is really cool, because I've been wishing there was a LUG in my area for like seven years and I'm finally in one.   -Letagi

BrickCon 2016

Is anyone going?   The attendees list is conspicuously empty of mentions of the regulars.   This has me greatly concerned.   -L

Brickcon!

No! Arpy beat me to the first BrickCon Blog entry! Oh well. BrickCon was a success! I got to meet a few awesome BZPers. Roa, Arpy, xccj, and Kopakanui. I didn't really get around to talking to Cajun or Binkmeister, but Binky commented on my BZP brick on my brick badge. Okay, I'll start from the top. Day One: I wanted to leave Vancouver at about 8:00 a.m., but we ended up leaving at around nine. The wait at the border was about half and hour, unfortunately, but oh well. We arrived

O Hai Thar.

I was in Seattle for three days, so now I'm back. Yeah, I went with my school band. We did three concerts. I'm amazed I got any sleep at all, because the first night we were all really hyper (me and the other three people I was rooming with) and the second night the other three were watching TV while I was trying to go the sleep. Then we had to wake up at like 6:45, shower, and rush downstairs for breakfast. We also got a bunch of free time, where we were allowed to wander around Seattle i

T3, T6, And T9

ZOMG my blog has over one-thousand views. *** SO ANYWAYS. I have all three. The T6 I got a long time ago. The T9 I got at forty percent off at the Scratch & Dent at the Lego Store in Seattle, during the BrickCon Lego Store visit. I actually have Roa to thank for that one - she also wanted it, but she said that if she got in before me she wouldn't take it. The T3 I got right before we headed back to Vancouver, at twenty-five percent off, since all BrickCon attendees get twenty-fiv

BricksCascade peeps.

I think it's fair to say that BricksCascade 2015 was the worst-organized con that I've been to, but the social aspect more than made up for it.   Shoutouts to (pictured left to right below, excluding myself on the far left): Jason (xccj), Trisha (Kayru), Rene (EmporessWhenua), Riley (Based Goomy), Ben (ChocolateFrogs), Adrian (Emzee), Micah (Kakaru), Pat (DeeVee), Calen (The 1st Shadow), Jen (Tufi Piyufi), Bryan (Makaru), Nate (GSR), Rob (Janus), Becca (Hahli Husky) and Breann (Roa McToa, not pi

Conflict

Everyone go read Pomegranate's blog entry.   I've been thinking along those same lines. In a way, I get where all the negativity comes from; the fact is, this is a community of mostly adults, and wherever there are a bunch of adults there will almost always be conflict. The fact that this is a forum about a children's toy is irrelevant. But at the same time, adults should know how to handle that conflict when it arises in a mature and effective way. Conflict is natural, but when it turns into dr

O Hai Thar!

Okay, so basically our new and shiny Mac died and has to fixed. We won't get it back until Thursday. Right now I'm on our old PC, but unstable as it is I probably won't be able to get on BZP much for the next few days.   Kthnxbai.   -

Stuff

I think that must be the most-used blog entry title on BZP. Or anywhere, for that matter. Anyways, the holidays have been rather nice so far. My dad and I finally got around to moving our record player into my room (since I'm the only one who ever listens to records) so now I have a full stereo system in my room. This, combined with having around two hundred records to choose from, makes for some awesome entertainment. It sounds rather wonderful. No Lego gets for Christmas, but I did recei

He's Alive?

So as some of you might have noticed by now, I've sort of been less active over the previous few months, but I should be back in the near future. I will also most likely be at BrickCon later this year, and quite possibly BrickFest in March 2011. In other news, the Olympics (which are unfortunately now over, as the world knows) were even more eventful than I had predicted. Got lots of swag and went to the Paralympic Opening Ceremonies. More later. And now, back to real life. In other wor

Theoretical Physics Thought Experiment

I spent the morning conducting a theoretical physics thought experiment.   An effect of general relativity is that the closer you are to a gravitational source (an object with mass), the slower time flows.   Near a black hole, which has infinite density, this effect is enormous. In fact, the result of this effect is that, as you approach a singularity, as you look towards the black hole you see its entire history, and as you look away from the black hole you see the entire future of the universe

Applying to Work in a LEGO Store

Yup. Both Vancouver stores and the Edmonton store are hiring so I'm applying.   As for why I'm applying in two cities, I'm thinking about going back to Edmonton in January for university. If I get hired in Vancouver, I probably won't go back to Edmonton, and vice-versa.   -Letagi
