Double Rainbow! =o

I was going to make an entry about Google Instant and Google Scribe, the cool new stuff. But then I saw this DOUBLE RAINBOW outside. Took some photos on my phone:   One Two Three Four   So yeah. I'm on exam leave again. Got lucky this time, the rainbow heralds my 6-day weekend. =D   EDIT: The funny thing is, the weatherman had said there'd be 'strange weather', and my mum said "What sort of strange weather?", to which I replied "A double rainbow, of course!", and I was RIGHT! I must be a p

The Equation For Cool

I've got it. We all know owning Apple products make you cool, right? So:   coolness = (amount of Apple products in house * avg. of last two digits of their release dates) / 10   Or in short form:   C=AR/10   Problem solved. This equation is perfect. It's arranged so that owning a Newton is around 10 times cooler than owning an iPad, and 100 times cooler than owning a 1st gen iPod. Genius!   My coolness is 5, btw. What's yours?   Rav

Tetris And Angry Birds (gaming)

Recently I've been playing mobile games more. Mainly a Tetris game on the Android Market called Tetronimo, and also Angry Birds, which my sister has on iTouch and I have in beta on Android. I also play solitare a bit.   I love Tetris, it's addictive and fun. I'm OK at it, but not terribly good. Angry Birds is REALLY good, but I can't play much, because the beta is buggy and I don't have an iTouch. If I did, It'd be mainly for Angry Birds   I'm not what you'd call a gamer, I'm a casual gamer i

September ∴ New Ipods

It's that time of the year again. Apple announced it's new iPods, which all look pretty awesome.   The new Touch is basically an iPhone without a phone, in every sense. It's thinner than the old one, with an A4, a retina display, and two cameras, one shooting 720p video, the other front-facing. It runs iOS 4.1, and is just generally awesome.   The new Nano is tiiiiiiiiny! It's got a 1.7" touchscreen, and that's about it. Three buttons (on/off, vol. up, vol. down), a headset jack, and a 30-pin

Don't Leave Me Hanging!

In the title, I was, of course, making a pun about high-5s and the current state of politics in Australia. Hung Parliament, which at this point looks like it'll mean a Labor minority government or a House of Reps re-vote. But enough about that. Things have happened recently!   I got an injection (triple antigen) yesterday. It was fine, I had an anaesthetic patch to prevent pain, but all day since it's really been hurting. I had to come home from school because it hurt too much. Stupid tetanus.

Work Experience And Qi

This week is work experience week! Oh boy! I've spent my week helping at a library. I'm writing this, on fact, on the bus, listening to I am the Doctor from the proms on loop. Its the only music I can fit on my phone until my new microSD card arrives. The good thing about Work Experience is that I get a basically stress-free week and I don't have any homework. So I can pretty much spend my free time however I like without any hassle. And on top of that, I get much higher chances of employment i

@stephenfry At #sydneyoperahouse

Last night I was witness to an exceedingly fascinating speech by Stephen Fry on the subject of his life. It was very interesting and very funny, and it was one of the best nights I've yet experienced.   And he said when asked if he wanted to be the next doctor, "If I was offered the part of Doctor Who I'd certainly consider it".   I think the petition begins now.   Rav

Renaming The Previous Entry

Rotcod Eht Ma I

You know that song, I am the Doctor, from Doctor Who? Yeah, you know the one, the main one? Plays all the time. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to reverse it, and it was! It's a great song forwards and backwards. Here's the backwards version, I'm calling it rotcoD eht ma I:   [flash=400,300]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=13596515&server=vimeo.com&show_title=0&show_byline=0&show_portrait=0&color=00ADEF&fullscreen=1.swf   Sound dips sometimes coz of how it was

Fun With Froyo

I just re-flashed Sense, to use the camera for a QR code, and I realised how much better I like Froyo. Stock Android needs no skin, all it needs before it's perfect is the FriendStream, Twitter, and Calendar widgets from Sense, or ones that function the same. Froyo rules!   Also, I have three days to get a 1000-word assignment in that I haven't even done the research for. How will I get it done!? D= I thought I would be able to shake this blasted procrastination.   Rav

Awesome New Banner

I think it turned out quite well. I spent at least 10 minutes on it in GIMP. It's just things that I like in a 750*268 rectangle. I like the crack, especially. I traced a path from the crack in Amy's bedroom from the finale, and told GIMP to stroke it with heaps of jitter and opacity/size variation thrice, then I tilted it to make stuff fit better. I found a white-on-black DW logo online, inverted it, shrunk it, and put it in. I took the Android, moved his arm up, tilted him, cut his legs off an

Holidays And Spoilers!

HOLIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS! Just thought I'd get that out there.   In other things, the Pandorica Opens on Sunday night here, and I have friends over for it. But I've seen it. So I mustn't give spoilers. This is a challenge   Also I only want to format my text in blog posts and topic starting posts. Speaking of topic-starting, I started a topic =O Is about Android, everyone's favourite small green dessert-loving robot Operating System.   Also, I use "So" far to m

There's A Crack In My Wall.

Aunt Sharon says it's just an ordinary crack, but... I know it's not, coz at night there's voices! Please send someone. Or a policeman. Or... *crash* Back in a moment.   Wait no that's Amy's line.     Yeah I found this in the fireplace in my room (legit, I didn't forge it or shop it):   =O   So if you forget me, you'll know why.   Wait you won't, coz you won't remember remembering me.   It doesn't actually glow, that's just the flash.   Here's a better (but slightly bigger and sideway

Returning To My Roots

Today, I successfully rooted my Legend. I just flashed my first ROM to it, 'L'espresso', an Espresso Sense UI for the new T-Mobile MyTouch Slide. It's working! =D Looks pretty neat so far, it's quite cool with all the --   WHAT THEY REMOVED TWITTER!   Twitter integration on the MyTouch Slide is NON EXISTANT! Technophilia

The new iPhone has a 'Retina Display'   Basically that means it's pixels are so small they cannot be distinguished by the human eye. It has a dpi (dots per inch) of 326.   By Apple's (and other's) calculations, the lower limit for a retina display is around 300dpi. Thus it was beaten to it by Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and LG. The XPeria X1 and Toshiba Porteage both had a dpi of 311. The LG-LU1400 had one of 336. All three are circa 2008. But that doesn't matter, really. It's not like iPhone was e

The Lodger

Plot of the Lodger:   -Doctor gets stuck on Earth for a bit -Goes to live with normal people -Hilarity ensues     We know NEXT TO NOTHING about the Lodger. NEXT TO NOTHING.   IT MAKES ME SO MAD!   All I know is the above is true (hopefully even the third one) and he has a humourous conversation with Amy over his ear thingy at some point.   I'm paraphrasing the end bit here: "Of course it's in date, it's in a stasis fridge!" Nearly A Portmanteau, Bzpower!

Lego + Google doesn't equal Loogle, BZPower, it equals Legoogle. I recommend firing your chief pun guy   Also, Frozen Yogurt is too buggy in the SDK. I want a Nexus One.   Just got round to watching all the SMG2 trailers today; now I want the game. It's out in a couple of days, I doubt I'll be able to afford it straight off. =(   Rav

Bzpower For The Droid? (tell Me If You're Interested)

I'm going to learn coding for Android. A good first step is a simple, easy, app. So I'm going to make one.   I need ideas, though. I'm currently thinking of making a mobile version of BZPower. But are there really that many BZPers with Android?   It'd be free, and ad-free. Well, BZP has ads, so I might need to include theirs, but we'll see. It'd basically be a mobile-friendly BZPower, with the news, forums, blogs, and all that. I'd assume permission would be necessary, so if I get enough requ

Sent From My Htc Legend

Hey.   I got my new phone yesterday. It's much better up close, in looks at least. I'm sending this blog post from it at the moment... The keyboard is quite easy to type on. , although I am using a different keyboard (called ThickButtons, it's the best free keyboard I've used). Actually, this is quite easy, and im not making too many mistakes.   Well, there's my sorta test/blog post thingy... Rav

It's Quite Clear I'm A Nerd...

I went to the shopping centre to get a gift for Mother's Day, then I had a look around for a bit.   First I went to T[life], a mobile phone vendor, to fiddle with the Desire dummy (it's very nice, a good size and looks better in person. I'm almost regretting getting the Legend...). That was quick, just enter, hold it, leave.   Then I went to the ABC Shop, to see if they had the 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver. Found they only had 10 and under stuff, most of it DVDs. Left.   Finally, I went to

Legend, Exam Leave, Daleks, Etc.

On Thursday night, I ordered the HTC Legend, and it shipped yesterday (Friday). So I'll get it by (hopefully before) Friday! I can't wait, the postage said 3-5 business days from ship date, which puts it Wed-Fri, but I'm not sure if the weekend would knock a day off. I hope so, because I want it by Tuesday, so I can get some apps, and try to customise it, and, hopefully, make a LED flashlight app (Because the Legend has an LED camera flash), which is something I want, but nobody seems to have ma

Me Talking About Doctor Who For A Short Time

The Beast Below was awesome, especially the end. As a whole, the episode was more 'Moffat' than The Eleventh Hour, but not fully spooky and stuff, like his other episodes. The Next Time trailer was probably my favourite next time trailer ever, lol. I can't wait for next week. And then it starts in AUS, so I'm not going to steal any more from the UK after the Victory of the Daleks. Apparently it's called that because they actually win. Huh.   One other thing: Who else thinks that the "Raggedy" c
