Legend, Exam Leave, Daleks, Etc.

On Thursday night, I ordered the HTC Legend, and it shipped yesterday (Friday). So I'll get it by (hopefully before) Friday! I can't wait, the postage said 3-5 business days from ship date, which puts it Wed-Fri, but I'm not sure if the weekend would knock a day off. I hope so, because I want it by Tuesday, so I can get some apps, and try to customise it, and, hopefully, make a LED flashlight app (Because the Legend has an LED camera flash), which is something I want, but nobody seems to have ma

Star Coins Are Easy

Everything up to 8-5 now. Once I get all of them I'll be triple-star, then when I do W9, quadruple-star!   Then it's just W9 Star Coins. And Star Coins are easy.   (but of course, I've been using a guide)

The Years Go By...

Greetings, fair citizens of the BZPower.   Today marks my 6 year anniversary on BZP. Over half a decade on this site! And I get my Faxon!   Here's to 6 more!   And, it's the first monday of the holidays! Yay!   Here's to ONE MORE monday of the holidays. And all the days in between. And the 6 days after it. Rav

Team Effort + V For Vendetta

I watched V for Vendetta last night. Thrilling. Absolutely brilliant. I'd probably place it in the top ten, if not five. The entire thing was just fantastic, especially the ending. If you haven't seen it, get on that, it's worth it.   Business week continues, and I, for some reason, seem to be the ideas man in my group. I came up with the logo, name, and slogan of our company, and quite possibly the advert too. Being the most creative is a new experience for me. Hm.   As an aside, I'm working

Birthday + Earthquake

Well, today, the 28th, is my birthday. I'm 15, yay!   But I'm also sick. And on top of that, there was a massive (8.8 on the Richter scale, which, by the way, has been long superseded by the MMS) earthquake in Chile, where a lot of my extended family live.   Also Sydney's on tsunami alert, and it's probably going to hit at quarter to 9 (about 3 hours from post time, because apparantly it's 1 hour off). The wave ought to be small, but it might get bigger on it's way over (it was 2.34m in Chile

Bs01's Fall

Apparantly I took out the user template from my page. Well, that's my page gone.   With only Bing (*shudder*) Cache saving my page, I am attempting to get it back. But since the cache didn't save the "Activate Akaku" page, I need to remake the templates myself. Oh well, I guess it's a chance to improve... Rav   EDIT: Oh, and I forgot... I trashed the Ignika project, it's been much too hard to measure, I was too inaccurate in the past. So I decided to paint it gold straight on the mask, to s

Old Episodes

My dad bought me all 4 of the revived series. I watched the one episode I'd missed, The Fires of Pompeii, and I watched some 9th Doctor episodes, and I watched New Earth. And I found the best 10th Doctor quote ever (or rather, so far)... When the Face of Boe finds finishes talking to the Doctor, he says "That is enigmatic... That- That is... That is textbook enigmatic."   Love the 10th Doctor.

The Equation For Cool

I've got it. We all know owning Apple products make you cool, right? So:   coolness = (amount of Apple products in house * avg. of last two digits of their release dates) / 10   Or in short form:   C=AR/10   Problem solved. This equation is perfect. It's arranged so that owning a Newton is around 10 times cooler than owning an iPad, and 100 times cooler than owning a 1st gen iPod. Genius!   My coolness is 5, btw. What's yours?   Rav

Amateur Astronomy

I have sorta gotten into amateur astronomy. I've been tracking the Galilean Moons. It's very exciting. I only have two days of it (18/10/09 and 20/10/09), but I think I've figured out which moon is which, so maybe I can predict tonight's positions! It'd be awesome if I got it right. So, adding astronomy to my list of interests (or was it already there?)   In other news:   I missed QI. I know, terrible. But now I have it set to record at the correct time, instead of the incorrect time, which I

It Was.

Yes indeed, I did contract H1N1 Swine Influenza in the week preceeding my school holidays. And the 1/200 chance I had of dying from it (obviously) didn't happen.   Also, It it now NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK in Australia.   Have fun, because that is what science is. Rav   EDIT: The death rate has increased from ~1/200 to ~1/100. There is approxmately a 1% chance you'll die from this disease. Please, get vaccinated. It is MUCH more dangerous than regular flu (

Wip: Kanohi Ignika

I'm currently working on a project: a card/cardboard Kanohi Ignika. It's going great so far, I've got a prototype pic about a week old:     Since then I've made the top have a more stick-out thing, like the real mask, and covered the top in black. I've also done a scale version of the actual front of the mask, so I'm gunna stick that on and use cardboard for the guy. And the stripes.   So yeah, look forward to that, I'll post more pics when I'm finished or I have another decent WIP stage (it

First!

Let's start off the year with some trolling, shall we?   If I timed this right, as I'm sure I have, this will be the first blog entry posted from 2011 on BZPower, assuming no premier members live in NZ or Japan and also plan to do this.   Since I live in Australia, I have the opportunity to post this entry during 2011 while the rest of the world is still in 2010. When I posted this, it was between 5 and 8 AM in America, and around 1PM in Britain. But here, it was 2011.   I don't actually hav

There's A Crack In My Wall.

Aunt Sharon says it's just an ordinary crack, but... I know it's not, coz at night there's voices! Please send someone. Or a policeman. Or... *crash* Back in a moment.   Wait no that's Amy's line.     Yeah I found this in the fireplace in my room (legit, I didn't forge it or shop it):   =O   So if you forget me, you'll know why.   Wait you won't, coz you won't remember remembering me.   It doesn't actually glow, that's just the flash.   Here's a better (but slightly bigger and sideway

8gb Of Lego + A Milestone

My dad bought me an 8GB Home Brand USB stick (a USB from Woolworths, the food shop). Since it was encased in a loose plastic box, I decided to rip it apart and make a new case. I used a grey 2x6 brick and a grey 2x6 plate, superglue, and a dremel. I'll get some pics up soon, it's a bit messy.   Also, I've settled on which phone to start saving up for. A Motorola Milestone (Droid in USA). It looks like the best Android phone right now. Since there's probably going to be another one like it (the

School Certificate!

Oh boy! I'm doing the school certificate! The school certificate, for those unaware, is a series of 2-hour exams on English, Science, Maths, History/Geography, and Computing Skills. In my school, we do History/Geography in year 9 and not 10, so I did that last year, but I'm doing the other 4 this week. I've done the first three now, they were easy. These tests are designed so that the lowest mark ought to be around 70-something, I think. I doubt I'll get under 80 in any of them. Computing Skills

Proof That Hero Factory Is Doctor Who

"Stringer is armed with a built-in, multi-functional sonic weapon"   You see, Hero Factory is actually Villengard, obviously, and they all travel in small, hard-to-land pods through time and space!   IT WAS SO OBVIOUS!   And in the end, the Hero Factory will be replaced by a banana grove.   I trust the sets will be better after that   Rav

Quad-core Smartphones!?

ARM announced the other day that they are developing a new processor - A smartphone processor that is quad-core. Each of those cores runs at 2.5GHz.   That's fast enough with one core! It's 2.5GHz dedicated to a single application, which will make it blazingly fast! Multitasking will be incredibly smooth, with a core for the task and three spares for background tasks. 2.5GHz alone is almost triple the average today (around 900 probably). Putting this in perspective, that's almost as good as an

Ubuntu

Yesterday I made the computer able to dual-boot Ubuntu 10.10, Maverick Meerkat. I'm quite liking it overall, but there are a couple of bugs I've found. I might use this as my main operating system, even.   I'm also thinking of getting a Magic Trackpad, which hopefully would work on Ubuntu, and maybe even work on my netbook, because the actual trackpad is horrid on my netbook.   Not much else going on.   Rav

Tsunami

I just posted an entry about how there's been a massive earthquake in Chile, and that there would be a tsunami.   The wave just hit New Zealand. It was 3 metres tall.   It could get smaller, it could get bigger, it could stay the same. I'm hoping for the former. A >3m tsunami in Sydney would be terrible. It probably wouldn't get to our house, even more so because it's on a hill, but still, it'd wreck the CBD.

Trypanophobia

I have it. I found that out yesterday, unfortunately.   If you don't know, trypanophobia is an irrational fear of needles. I always knew I was afraid of needles, but I didn't quite realise how bad I had it until yesterday.   Yesterday, you see, I had something of an episode. Breathing became hard, my heart went heavy and fast, and my body weak, mainly my appendages. So my parents took me to hospital. There wasn't much in the way of people there, so we didn't have to wait too long to see the nu

Learning A New Language

Not just any old language, no. A computer language. Java. I'm learning Java so that I can make apps for Android, because it looks like fun. Also, apparently if you get more than 5000 downloads on an app Google sends you a Nexus One, which would save me money.   Hello World worked, and it was slightly more complex than in QuickBasic, which I can also write. Hello World in QuickBasic: PRINT "Hello World!"   Hello World in Android/Java: package com.example.helloandroid; import android.app.Act

No Tsunami

As far as I know, we haven't had a tsunami. We're still on tsunami warning, though.   Went to the doctor, I have a respiratory infection. So I've taken about 4 different types of tablets, and hopefully that'll fix me up. I get tomorrow off school, and maybe Tuesday too.
