Vertigo

Ohhhhhhhh, it is not nice. At all.   Especially when you're like, "yeah, gonna bike over to the pharmacy and get a prescription filled that will hopefully help!" only to get there and find out that it closed 45 minutes ago. Things have been really on and off wonky from my perspective since Monday. I hope that this will resolve itself....   Oh gosh, I feel bad now. Friday was my dad's birthday. I should have called him or maybe sent a card a few days before so he'd get it. I really despise being

Ryldsoaww (Randomness With E W)

From a few days back....an epic text conversation I had with EmperorWhenua. The randomness that occurred felt necessary enough to share with the rest of you, because even now, I'm not sure why he was texting me random letters or why I thought up such odd replies.   EW: R. Nukaya: R? R is for....rabies? OMG, you have rabies?! EW: Y. Nukaya: Y....? You are sitting in a yew tree listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? EW: L. Nukaya: L....you're sitting with Luna Lovegood discussing loser's lurgy? EW: D.

A Random Text, Part 2

EmperorWhenua: "Iz diz txt RANDUM?"   Well, it did make me laugh when I received it at lunch, to the confusion of the people I was sitting with.

Cranberry Sauce

The track team is having a Thanksgiving dinner tonight, so I decided to make a dessert. Except they had cranberries at Grocery Outlet for really cheap, so I was like "Oh man I bet I can totally make awesome homemade cranberry sauce and it will be awesome so let's just ignore that I've never made it before".   So, I'm sort of basing this off of the recipe on the back of the cranberry package, and then another I found online. The final product was supposed to be made of:   -1 cup water -12oz bag c

Volvos And Volkswagens

My parents decided to go with the Cash for Clunkers program and get rid of our old red Volvo station wagon from 1990 and use the money to buy a shiny 2009 light blue VW. My mom dragged my brother and I out of the house and we did a quick spin around the neighborhood in it, which was really nice, even thought it was like 10.30 at night. Super smooth driving and such. Unfortunately, it now means I have to learn how to drive stick, so blah for that aspect of it.   ALSO: My mom wants to get a cus

Transient Cat

Anyways, I am bogged down with photos (again). We took Shep, our very very old golden retriever, to visit my mom's school so her fourth graders could meet him, and I took (as usual) a lot more photos than I should. In the meantime, here's a random photo I took of a transient's kitten while in downtown Portland a few weeks back. It's kind of cute, but at the same time, kind of really sad, but it looks so happy playing with that bit of cardboard.   Three days until I head back to school.   Packing

Soap Box Derby Lego Mosaic

So this is a mosaic that I made in either 2003 or 2004 that I had sort of forgotten about until I was talking with ChocolateFrogs a while back and he wanted to know what it looked like, and when I was cleaning my room, I found it peeking out from under a chair, so I dragged it out and got a picture of it. Looking at it now, there's a lot of things I think I might end up changing, like the shape of the bottom 1/3 of the shield part, the way the axles and front of the car have a very odd bend to

P D X

Waiting in the airport and just realized that I don't have 45 minutes like I thought I would have to get to my plane in LAX, but instead I have roughly 20 minutes, and I'm still trying to figure out which terminal I'm landing at and which one I have to go to. Hoping like mad here that they won't be at opposite ends of the airport, because LAX is huge....   I get a fun red-eye flight, then land in Baltimore at seven-something in the morning, chill out there for a while, then find the train to som

Theatre Makeup

Or, I realize that I don't know how to put on eyeliner and that said activity is one of the most terrifying things on the planet for me to even try. Because, as it turns out, there are guys in the theatre department who know how to put on eyeliner and makeup in general better than me. One even responded with "You don't know how to put on makeup? But....you're a girl" when I told him this.   Anyways, I took the theatre makeup class that my school has online last spring semester (because at the

Film Photography

'Tis very fun.   Edit: I feel as if people don't know what the differences between film photography, digital photography, and filming a video are any more. This worries me slightly.

Word Problems

Math that is in the form of word problems kind of makes me want to stab things.   And every single one of these math problems is a word problem. And this is supposed to be math that should be teaching me how to teach math to elementary school students and the majority of them are examples of math problems that said students should be able to solve, yet it's making no sense to me.   Argh!   (and 309 days until BrickFair!)

Shoes, Bottles, And Umbrellas

10"x10", acrylic on canvas   Noooo, the internet crashed and deleted the first version of this. Bugger.   Ok, in a nutshell: I don't go back to school until the 24th. Right now, I am getting rather cabin feverish, as I pretty much just sit at home all day and pretend to try to edit photos while talking to nice people online. This is great up to a point when I realize that as much as I absolutely love talking to people online, the photos are starting to drive me bonkers and there's nothing else t

Decide On My Friend's Halloween Costume!

So, I got back a math quiz that I took last Friday that had an extra credit question "What is the name of the German boy who quickly added one hundred numbers?" I couldn't remember his name (Carl Friedrich Gauss) so I wrote "Super genius math kid? I have no idea" and my professor gave me extra credit anyway. He rocks.   I'm thinking for Halloween I might make a dress entirely out of newspaper (because my college dining place does a costume contest each year. Last year I went as Sarah Palin), but

Newspaper Dress

I totally forgot about this! Woah! This is the newspaper dress that I made for Halloween 2009 that I mentioned ages ago but then forgot to post photos of. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of it, but it gets the general wackiness across.   And shoes:   The inner lining of the dress is made of a old cut-up shirt and wire held together by safety pins because I don't have a sewing machine and struggle with sewing in a semi-straight line. If I had an ounce of sewing talent and a sewi

It's A Marvelous Night For A Moondance....

Tonight for New Year's Eve, there's going to be a blue moon. These only come around every two or three years (when there are two full moons in the same month), but blue moons on New Year's Eve are a bit less common, and the last one was in 1990. Coincidentally, 1990 is my year of birth. Pretty cool!   And that was your random fact of the evening.   It's kind of strange though: when we were ringing in the new millennium, I was just a little ten year old kid, excitedly watching the various New Yea

Pomegranates Go Boom!

Why pomegranates are amazing:   1. They have pretty colours.   2. They taste awesome and are good for you.   3. If you're not very good at getting the seeds out of it like I am, they kind of explode and the juice goes everywhere and it leaves you and your kitchen looking like you've been in a fight.   (and 284 days until BrickFair!!)
