Halftime Show

I think that it was hilarious. There certainly will be better Superbowl halftime shows, and there certainly will be worse, but XLV's was hilarious because of just how out of control it became: Fergie: When you are combined with a bad microphone and trying too hard, you start to sound like Adam Sandler. You are a better singer than that. The people or person in control of the sound board: Some of this is partially your fault. Weird lagginess and sound issues shouldn't be happening at an event th

*Ḋives Through Doorway*

I'm still alive!   I swear, I didn't fall off the face of the earth, I just got realllly busy and realllly stressed out, but then Thanksgiving break was like "oh heyyyy" and I got five days of doing absolutely nothing except for eating and hanging out with friends and family, and it was five days that were needed quite badly in my part.   Finals are next week for me. Ack! I have a painting, a huge charcoal drawing, a movie trailer, and my math homework for this week to finish, which will all be

Knee Socks Are Amazing

Instead of putting on sweatpants over their shorts like most people are prone to do when they're cold, I put on knee socks.   It actually worked really well. And I was warm for the rest of last night, so it was probably one of the best ideas of the night. Yay, knee socks!   (and 175 days until BrickFair!!!)

Transient Cat

Anyways, I am bogged down with photos (again). We took Shep, our very very old golden retriever, to visit my mom's school so her fourth graders could meet him, and I took (as usual) a lot more photos than I should. In the meantime, here's a random photo I took of a transient's kitten while in downtown Portland a few weeks back. It's kind of cute, but at the same time, kind of really sad, but it looks so happy playing with that bit of cardboard.   Three days until I head back to school.   Packing

Lego Summer Tour....?

My friend called me this morning to tell me that "There's a LEGO thing going on downtown in Pioneer Courthouse Square, and it made me think of you, so you should go and check it out".   From the info I found on the LEGO site, apparently the LEGO summer tour is mainly for promoting the new LEGO games, as well as to "see all 10 new LEGO Games, play games against other familes for a chance to win cool stuff, and Guess the Number of Bricks in the evil Minotaur model for a chance to win a trip to LEG

Film Photography

'Tis very fun.   Edit: I feel as if people don't know what the differences between film photography, digital photography, and filming a video are any more. This worries me slightly.

Knees And Nationals

The past few days have been the indoor national championships for NAIA, and all ten of the athletes from my university who qualified for it placed in the top fifteen in their respective events, with three of them placing in the top six in their events (thus reaching All-American status). Plus, they pretty much rewrote our school records doing all of this, which is phenomenal. AND, to add on to how well the team has done, one of our other runners competed at the masters indoor track world champio

We'll Be B(Qu)Ack

Watch out.   In other news, I am supposed to do a documentary photography project for photojournalism. It is supposed to last for the next nine weeks (until the end of term). Each week I am supposed to shoot at a minimum either one 36 exposure roll of film or the equivalent 75 digital images. The instructions talk about how we are not supposed to choose a subject matter that is too grandiose, or requires traveling (given the amount of bad weather we've been having). My professor gave ideas such

Ch. 11: The Persuadee

Uh.   I thought it was tango. Not tangle. I'm looking at a list of common errors in English usage, and it's saying that it should be tango, not tangle.

Snapped

Yesterday I was at vault practice.   Which is all fine and dandy.   Except for the fact that one of my teammates snapped a pole during one of her vaults. Luckily, she's ok.   Which is somewhat all fine and dandy.   Except the pole she broke was the pole that all four of us girl vaulters use the most in practice and competition.   Which is not at all fine and dandy.   Oh, and the mishaps link now has a fun, best way I've ever seen to break a pole animation. It's awesome and fits quite well with

Low Of -4

At least, that's what the temperature was the other night at school. Luckily, I'm home for the next few days for Thanksgiving Break, where it is slightly only warmer, but hey, at least home has electric blankets. Also! Black ice on the roads is scary, and almost crashing is even scarier especially when the freeway going from school to home has tons of wrecks in ditches, and you see them and it's like "Hadthemediannotbeentherewhenthecarstartedtofishtailthatcouldhavebeenuslet'snotfreakoutnowok."

Spritz Cookies

I might have outsprinted a small child at one point tonight in order to win at Bingo at my dad's company picnic. But, now I have a hand mixer and a cookie press/decorating kit, so if I ever learn how to make food or spritz cookies in a proper sort of fashion, I can put those to good use!   Crazy weekend. Oh man. So tired right now. Though, I just saw the birthday topic, which was very nice. Thank you!   (proper BrickFair entry that still needs writing that will get done one of these days, becaus

Classes

I don't know why I'm posting this, but here!   Art History I: The last of three art history classes I have to take. Mind you, because of weird scheduling issues, I ended up taking them in the order of II, III, and then I. So, one more term of listening to Cory hate on paintings of ponies. Oh man, lol.   Principles of Marketing: I have to take this for my communication minor. I'm not entirely sure how it's going to go, but it seems pretty interesting based on the textbook.   Public Speaking: This

Blog H Q

We're updating the Blog HQ: dusting it off, putting another layer of paint on it, getting some new furniture, the works. Once we're done, it should be much more streamlined, much nicer to look at, and overall more helpful for everyone.   So, go check it out! The blog staff will update a new entry with any new rules, and then after a certain amount of time, delete the entry and add the rule to the blog rules entry. Hopefully, this will keep the blog HQ as well as the rules and guidelines much eas

A Beatles Story

Once upon a time, there was a little five year old girl. You could consider her relatively normal and such, except for the fact that unlike the majority of five year olds, she absolutely loooved the band The Beatles. She had a Beatles calendar (but that will be another story for another time) and would always go and listen to her parents Beatles CDs and would also eventually have several years where she annoyed many DJs at the local radio stations with her constant phone calls requesting Beatl

Things Are Being Scary

You guys.   You guys seriously.   There is this thing. And it's in the sky and I don't know what it is but it's all shiny and bright and it hurts to look at so I'm not looking at it, but it's making everything else really brightomgomgwhatisitseriouslypeople.   And what is this feeling....it's like, not being cold?   The sky is also....blue? And not grey?   What is going on?!   Anyways, I'm not really sure what's happening right now with the weather here, and I'm a bit freaked out about it right

Emperor Whenua And Buses

I walked after a bus through an airport parking lot for 15 minutes in order to see EW for about eight minutes, much to the amusement of my brother and EW's troop and probably EW as well as we were on the phone with each other the whole time.   Picture ('cause this actually happened (that's right, I'm lookin' at you, Sumiki)):     I'm not really sure what he's doing here, but look at the crazy LEGO people from Oregon!

Second!

I PLACED SECOND!!!   SECOND!!! In a BZPower art contest!   Yay!!!   Second place is like....one of the best things ever.   Thank you so much if you voted for "The Tree House" during the contest! I wouldn't have done as well as I did if people weren't kind enough to go and vote for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!   Woo hoo!!!   You're never going to get the actual prize for getting second. Sorry. -FN
