Project Movie-Accurate Micro Manager: Part 1

ok so the one thing bugging me about Lego Movie sets is that none of the Micro Managers in them is movie-accurate (unless you count the live-action sequences, but if that's the case canon Metalbeard is Minibeard from the Sea Cow.) So what I'm trying to do is first piece together a Movie-accurate Micro Manager in LDD, then, once I've got all that figured out, order the necessary pieces off Bricklink and make it a reality. If there's any demand for it, when I'm done I might post the .lxf so others

me and the bae

I built the sea cow on my bed like a moron so it kept breaking when i tried to take this pic with my webcam. luckily the only part i couldnt find was covered by my spare parts.   it's a beautiful ship, though. my only complaint is the lack of gold octopus.

"Old-Fashioned"

There is a very big difference between "old-fashioned" and "outdated and bigoted", and for some reason people who are the latter like to claim they are the former. I'm here to point out the difference between the two that I thought was very clear, but for some reason people like to muddy. I'm going to give you some examples of worldviews, and then explain whether it's old-fashioned, or just straight-up bigoted.   Let's start easy.   People of different races are fundamentally different in ways t

Common Knowledge

I thought that Bionicle had garbage gender ratios was an accepted fact at this point. It is, in fact, the most moderate thing that can be said on the issue.   Apparently I was wrong.   (this is in reference to something off-site, not any of the topics I have posted in.)

Jewelry Idea

Okay so you know the LEGO scorpions?     Ok, so you take two of those, and you put an eyelet screw in each scorpion's stud hole.   Then, through the eyelet screw, you hook an earring hook thingy.   Ta-da! scorpion earrings.   just a little idea i had because i've been ordering a bunch of scorpions off Bricklink on impulse. I haven't actually done it yet, though.

Please tell me I'm not crazy

ok so waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2001, back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth (or at least the LEGO kind), I remember there was this game on the LEGO Dinosaurs website. Well, two games. One was a skeleton assembly game, where you'd put together skeletons and they'd show you the dinosaur in set form when you succeeded. You can see a (broken) link on the archive of the website. Its name was apparently Dino Dig.   The other, I don't remember the name of. In fact, all I remember of it is the gamep

With spikes or without?

So I took a picture of the newest version of Fiddler with spikes, and one without. It works fine without spikes, but I'm not sure which looks better, and if with spikes, how they should be arranged. Any suggestions?

Web_trailer_final.mov

I ordered a Gahlok Kal off Bricklink and, with it, I got the mini-CD.   Going into the files within, I found Web_trailer_final.mov , which is the most hilariously early-2000's trailer I've seen in ages.

Evongelion

(i'm well aware that it's more Pacific Rim than Evangelion by this point but that won't stop me)   so I picked up the Evo XL Machine a few days ago. Oddly, unlike Dragon Bolt, I don't have a lot of negative things to say about that. However, having dedicated myself to negativity in all aspects of my life, I did find quite a few flaws that stood out. Flickfires. Even worse, they feel tacked on, and trying to flick them makes the joint they're on move at least 50% of the time. The back is hideous

What did I win again?

I was so busy trying to win something and so elated that I managed it that I missed what I actually won.   I think I heard the name "Nuju" but I'm not sure.   (I was capitanozakitano for those curious, the one who answered the Beware the Swarm question. I should really contact Six i think? or does he contact me?)

Jurassic Park

Ok, I've made an entry about Jurassic Park before, and that one was all about the dinosaurs and the inaccuracies therein (though I left out several things, such as the Velociraptors' wrists being incorrect; they would need to be broken to be like that) but now I feel it's time to post about why I don't like the film as a whole. Because while it may be fueled by dino-nerd rage, there's more to it than that.   The message of Jurassic Park is supposed to be that man shouldn't play God and that the

and another thing

the twist at the end of the Karda Nui arc would have been so much more of a twist if it werent for the fact that ever since 2005 Makuta popped up to say "all according to keikaku"   and if not him someone else would come along to say "yep this is it this is makuta's plan"   really the only thing that kept it a surprise was that we didnt know the universe was in a giant robot

Teridax

I've been thinking a lot about Bionicle lately. I've been thinking of the potential it had, the joy it brought me, but sadly, also its decline into something I had a harder time appreciating right up until the unsatisfying end.   One thing that bugs me the most, though, is what happened to Makuta.   In the early days of Bionicle, everything was much more spiritual, much more mystical, much more intriguing. Obviously, as Greg's "Sizzle and the Steak" thing was all about, it couldn't remain that m

The LEGO Movie

finally saw it. it was pretty good. Metalbeard was everything I hoped he would be.   (I'm very disappointed in the ways Metalbeard's set differs from his movie counterpart, particularly the cannon array, which I'm pretty sure is much more stable in the movie design.)

Can we canonize the Cleatus videos?

Serious question here. Can we get them at least partially canonized by Greg Farshtey?   The first episode is easy. Witch Doctor escaped in the Breakout, and we never really learn HOW he was recaptured, so the first video is clearly documenting this. I think it can easily be 100% canon.   The second video is more difficult, as we see the entirety of Black Phantom's role in Breakout, so as far as partial canonization goes, I'm afraid episode 2 is squarely non-canon.   Episode three is only partial

Age of Extinction

Not a good look at much, though that didn't stop me from catching things that rub me the wrong way. Horned tyrannosaurs? Two-headed pterosaurs? Yes, we get it. They're robot dinosaurs, you're Michael Bay, and you get to do whatever the heck you want in the name of Rool of Cule. Whatever. It's stupid, but whatever. Is that flapping metal on Crosshairs or whatever? Really? Flapping metal, just to give cool "trenchcoat"? You could at least have TRIED making it conceivable. Is that Megatron? A
