Today I was a perfect consumerist heathen and bought most of the sets I want to get from the first 2010 wave: Tahu, Gresh, and Skrall Stars, Chromastone, Smash'n'Grab (yay Squidtron), and Wreck Raider. I look forward to using the new and funky pieces in the first four particularly. Thinking back, it's amazing and a bit frightening to contemplate how much I've changed over the past year, as well as how many changes still await me. This year I'll be flying on airplanes by myself, going to college, and generally becoming more independent than I have been so far. Did you know that a series of short plays can be written, produced, and performed within one week? Neither did I, until last week. Three of the students in a recent college production were invited to this scholarship competition (or something) in Reno next February, which of course costs money, so somebody got the idea to do a fundraiser for them and I got sucked in by virtue of my association with the theater crowd there.

A bit about this: The green energy is meant to be somewhat evocative of the Cutter field, a matter-energy matrix controlled by, among others, Anaka (the middle figure). It can either phase through things with minor disruption or else remove them to another dimension entirely depending on the intensity. Well, my run with the local playhouse's production of The Matchmaker (the play that inspired Hello, Dolly!, clips from which were seen in Wall-E) has ended. It was a really fun play in all aspects. It would have been even more fun if we had done even half the pranks we wanted to do for the closing performance, but our sage and cunning director issued a strict edict before curtain to the effect that we were not to partake in any shenanigans, which is unfortunate because the, er, younger elements
