Spring Is In The Air, And How...

Spring is certainly in the air. In fact, now that the trees are budding, the air is full to bursting with spring.   This of course means that the air for quite a ways has become unbreathable because of POLLEN.   I hate allergies.   POLLEN!!!!!!!!!

Traffic Is Back With A Vengeance!

Or not with a vengeance!   Anyone at ALL remember my old Traffic LEGO stopmotion movies? With the funny guy with the glasses always getting run over by cars?   Boo-yah!   ... I did not just say that oO.   Anyway, joy. I gotta get back into this whole stopmo business.   I've had this really cool idea (keyword: IDEA) where I have this gigantic fight between all the LEGO schtuffs in my room (I know, so original, eh?).   It'd be very involved, I'd probably have wires and pulleys strung up all

Got In!

Accepted to Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science. =D   That leaves Columbia and Cooper and Columbia already said I'm practically in, only not committing to anything yet, so it's pretty much just Cooper.   And then... comes the decision... *shudder*

This Document Is Officially Too Long

... however I'm really annoyed because I had a screenshot of the error message and Photoshop for no reason whatsoever crashed on me and simply closed without even giving me an error or not responding. Probably has to do with the virus scan I'm running... which is annoying enough in it's own right by completely murdering my CPU and the stupid antivirus programs are practically worse than viruses anyway and STUPID @*(&(*!&!! AAARGH HATE HATE HATE okay I'm done. Plus it's not giving me the

My Sister Turns Four Today!

Yep, four years now. I cannot believe I've been putting up with her since 2002.   It's like 7:30 in the morning when I'm woken up by either my grandpa or my mom telling me that everyone's going to be out of the house so I'll have to make myself lunch. And then my sister comes in and I forget what was said but apparently a response was excpected of me concerning her.   It's SEVEN in the morning in the SUMMER, I usually get up at nine, at that point I'm so groggy I couldn't do two plus two wit

How To Do Stuff

Edits are fine. Edits are wonderful. However 1: MSpaint USUALLY does not suffice for editting: the program was created to draw on the computer, not to perform advanced photomanipulation, which is what Photoshop and other stuff is for. 2: If editting is your thing, if filters and adjustments and cut-and-paste and color alterations really make you tick, if it runs in your very soul, that's wonderful! I'd love to see something by you. If you edit just because it mak funee piktur or because you hope

Cave Story Is Coming To Wiiware

AND I DON'T EVEN OWN A WII!   http://www.cavestorywii.com/   I like the remixed Moonsong on the site.   I remember LZ saying he got a Wii. Depending on what new content Pixel decides to put in, I just may have to try this.   I'd probably suck playing CS with a controller though.   On that note I beat my Sacred Grounds time today... by a fraction of a second. >>   I know I can two-cycle Ballos 3rd form... or even one-cycle... I'm just not doing it properly... ><

Silly Typoes

I swear I need to kick these editors in the head.   This is a COLLEGE LEVEL Physics text (it's for AP Physics actually, but it's still a college text) and they have silly typoes in it.   Like in the introduction to the chapter on Newtonian mechanics, it mentions that "if you stop peddling your bicycle on level ground, you soon come to rest."   PEDDLING your bicycle?     Oy.

Teachers' Eyes

We're at the dinner table eating and my sister runs off to get this book she wrote (about the "Family karaty super center" where she takes karate ) and starts presenting it to us all.   In the middle of her storytelling she goes, "Hey, turn around and look!" (since the rest of us are still eating, after all) "You don't have eyes on the side of your head!"   To which I reply, "Yes I do. You just can't see them behind my hair."   "Really?"   "Yep."   "No you don't! Only teachers have them."

Hot Zone

Ooooooh it is one of the SCARIEST books I've ever read. Not scary like Stephen-King-psychotic-killer scary. I mean, it's a dramatized TRUE STORY, and the implications are incredible.   The Hot Zone by Richard Preston tells the true story of government agencies rushing to contain a possible outbreak of the deadliest virus alive, in the United States, barely miles from Washington D.C. It goes into very gruesome detail concerning the effects of Ebola and Marburg on the bodies of its victims. It's

That One Red Condiment...

HAHAHA get it get it? The red condiment, you know. It's ketchup. Ketch... up... aha... ha... haaaaaaaathat wasn't very funny was it?   So anyway it's catch-up time since I haven't had time to blog in weeks.   So what's happened? Well, let's go about this in no particular order:   PSATs still haven't arrived. BLAAAAARGH. WHY. THE SUSPENSE ARE KILLING ME.   My parents, uh...   >>   If you believe in Santa, skip please.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So my sister

Nice Boat

Today we had a day off, because of staff development or something. I should be doing work but I really don't feel like it... second semester senior and all. Anyway, that means a four day weekend. Wewt.   Went to bed at nearly 3 last night... woke up today around 10:30. I blame CoalGuys releasing Toradora 19 subs at 1:40ish in the morning.   Hweeeell tomorrow's Valentine's Day, eh? Barely realized it was coming. Eh. Indifferent.   Today is Friday the 13th! Superstitions abound.   Er. I don't

The Winds Are Changing...

Ah, yes, change is good...   ...   Yes, I love The Lion King, but that wasn't the point of this entry.   The point is, the weather is improving. Today was sorta blustery but yesterday, oh man, yesterday, it was EIGHTY DEGREES OUT! I mean, but a week ago I was freezing my fingers off and there was snow on the ground! And yesterday was so beautiful! Nothing more than a nice breeze, sun hot enough to make you genuinely sweat without even excercising,   PRETTY WEATHER!   Yeah. We went to the p

Sci-fi "ahead Of Their Time"

No matter how "ahead of their time" a sci-fi author was (and I'm talking from at least twenty, thirty years back, any more recent doesn't count), it would seem that everybody underestimated computers.   Like I'm reading The Cat Who Walks Through Walls by Heinlein... no idea how old it is, but his main character harps on the amazing storage capacity of these data wafers that are a couple centimeters big. They can store around half a million words.   Let's give a generous estimate and say each w

Shiny!

(click the thumbnail)   So I figured out, in a general sense, raytracing... and I learned it all by myself except for the parts I didn't know! Haha naw I hadta get one of the TAs to show me, but I think I have it down now. So the car is shiny.   I also theoretically know how to add custom textures from Photoshop, but, uh... yeah, I tried, didn't quite work out. So STILL no racing stripes. I managed to get the stripes on SORT OF, but they sure as heck weren't pointing the right way. Nor were t

Kanji

AAAAAAARGH STOP DOING CONFUSING AND UNCONVENTIONAL STUFF THIS IS HARD ENOUGH TO LEARN ALREADY.   (by the way I'm not actually watching this show; I came across the Japanese title on Wikipedia or something and wuz like, "Wait, doesn't that say "uchuu"? Not that that's a really useful or practical word to have in my kanji vocabulary... I kinda just know it. XD)

Kids Say The Darnest Things

Yep. 'nother one 'bout my sister.   Quick (and thankfully entertaining) backstory before the first quote.   We're in Florida and my dad brought along his newest toy to help us out: a Garmin GPS system. Never need a map again!   So it's suction-cupped to the windshield and warbling out directions, and my Dad says, "You know, I heard on the radio that some people love these things so much that they give them names and say they want to marry it or something, and you know I can sort of see... I m

The Pain Caught Up With Me!

Ow!   Okay so I'm currently waiting for the painkiller to kick in and trying to ignore the sharp throbbing in my left upper gum.   I think I'll go watch random Vocaloid vids off Nico to distract myself...   The disappointing thing is the painkiller isn't having any funky mind-altering effects. :< That might partially make up for the whole experience, but noooo I don't even feel drowsy.
