Animating = Pain

I'm making a new av.   I plan to make it animated.   Animating = pain.   PAAAAAIN.   I'm up to, what, seven frames?   Wish me luck.   Oh, and happy May Day.

Fire (drill?)... In The Rain

Well I still dunno if it was a drill or what, when I asked a firefighter he said it was a "false alarm," but of all days it HAD to happen on the day there was a STORM. Ugh...   Luckily it wasn't coming down really hard when we got out but it was still definitely raining and not small enough to be considered drizzle yet. Man, though, I tell ya, loudest fire alarm I've ever heard. Right in my room, too. I'm typing the next chapter of Makuta Rehearsals and WHOOOOOOOOO! I was like, "AUGH!"   Lucki

My Dad Likes Buying Technology

So my current monitor is a... what was it? 17" LCD, 1280x1024. I'm quite satisfied with it. I like it. It's a nice monitor. I figured this was going to be the monitor I'd be taking with me to college.   My dad figured otherwise. So before I even knew it, today sitting at the bottom of the stairs is a 21.5" widescreen LCD, 1920x1080.   ... I mean, wow, that's awesome, but I kinda feel bad about him spending all that money on me. o__o

Sense Of Accomplishment

Still undergoing some refinements, but that's basically it. The wings are left as sketches because they won't be outlined in the final colored version. How should I color it, winter or summer uniform?   So last night we went out to eat at Friday's. We were going to go to P.F. Chang's since my mom got a $50 giftcard for there from her boss for the holidays, but we don't eat out often so we didn't really plan ahead... we didn't make a reservation and when we got there it was an hour's wait. So in

Memories

We watched some old home videos today.   Some memorable moments:   I'm seven and in school giving a presentation on Chinese New Year.   Me (on TV): "So anyway, xin nian hao! Happy new year! Happy new year means xin nian hao."   Me: "I think I got that a little backwards there."   Me (on TV): *points at poster* "This says 'xin nian hao' in Chinese. It looks like four words but it's supposed to be three words. I meant to write three words but I messed up."   Mom: "Well, at least you were hon

Organic Chemistry

Best. SHP course. For a second semester senior. EVER.   So basically we do labs and take a break in the middle to eat free food that the teacher brings. This week and last week we've been making aspirin.   And we're not even always on task in the labs. This week (today, that would be) the teacher was like, "Okay I don't have all the materials for the next step so while I go get them ready you can all play with the dry ice over there."   ... I'm sure you can imagine. People came up with some c

Honor

TAKE THE FREAKIN' BRIBE ACHILLEUS.   Like seriously, what was up with those Ancient Greeks?   So I'm on Book 9 of the Iliad, and I get to the part where Agamemnon spends something like fifty lines listing all the stuff he'll give Achilleus if the latter will be persuaded to rejoin the battle. And I'm like, "Holy geez, that's a lot of stuff. Like, a seriously huge amount of stuff."   And obviously Achilleus refuses.   WHAT THE HECK.     In other news, I'm up to episode 8 of Lain. Every time

Boston! Road Trip!

Yes, one of those college road trips. Itinerary includes Harvard, Yale, MIT, Brown, and Boston University. Not like I'm going to law school but hey, just to see, y'know?   Oy, I actually have a sketch of Comic 9, and the first several frames inked, but I doubt I can get it done before we leave.. may have to put up that filler I had in reserve...   Well, I'll try.   See ya Teusday, peeps!

Risky Advertising

Like that one ad just now with this guy on the phone talking about an aniversary or something and then it pans down and you see he's ironing a dress (his wife/girlfriend's?) and then there's romantic music in the background...   ... and it's a CAR commercial. What?   I mean, it's memorable, but I don't even remember which car it was advertising in the first place!   On that note, eight gold medals in a single Olympics. Unbelievable. Really lucky number 8 this time.

An Ocean Of Pollen

Is what it feels like I just biked through. Twice.   Should have taken a Claritin. Should have taken a Claritin...   Today. Is. Really. Freaking. Hot. Tomorrow. Will. Be. Even. Worse.   As my friend put it in Comp Sci this morning, the weather's been like winter winter winter winter winter winter spring summer summer summer summer... I mean, this time last week I wouldn't wander out without two layers and a jacket, long pants, hood up, hands shoved in my pockets... today I'm in shorts, T-shir

Soaked

And happy.   Today was SO HOT and because they were working on our basement, and there's sawdust and stuff everywhere, I couldn't turn on the air conditioning because it would blow the dust all through the house.   Very hard to concentrate today. SO. HOT.   But then when my parents came home me and my sister went out onto the deck, with the garden hose, and... well...   Now I'm soaked through. And happy. =D   She was evil though. Completely betrayed me. Got me right in the chest with that h

First Day Of Spring!

And it snowed.   Best. First day of Spring. Ever.   Ah, too bad it only lasted a couple hours. While it was snowing though, it came down hard. Huge clumps of the stuff.   Reminds me of the time it snowed in April and all my mom's flowers died... XD

2006: A Recap

Okay, so let's get up to speed here... starting from the end of July 2006, which is close enough to the last blog entry.   The first major event worth notice that occured after the last entry of last year was that I took a 3-week trip to China with my parents and my sister, who is 4. It was interesting to say the least. We definitely had a lot of fun, but it's a lot of the little things that you really notice...   Funny story, I once got myself lost in the subway system whilst in China. My par

That's One!

Looks like I've got into Rutgers.   I don't think any other school I've applied to is rolling admissions, so the next decision to come out ought to be MIT, in December sometime (I applied Early Action). Fingers crossed for that one, 'cuz it's basically far out in the "dream" section.   Yesterday I dumped four forms on my counselor, which means all that is left is this ridiculously long and difficult Cooper Union application. It's like, ten essay questions in a row. ><   Well, okay, ther

Password

"The password cannot be the same as or similar to your last name; try again."   Oh COME ON! My last name is TWO LETTERS! My password is TEN CHARACTERS! A two letter coincidence is not going to make my password guessable!   Stupid password checking algorithm. >>   Oh yeah, may as well while I'm here. I built something.

Money... *drools*

I spent the last two weeks in a room with air conditioners that barely work (it's 90 degrees in there on average) trying to keep a bunch of six-year-olds in line, all of whom appear to be out to get me.   In other words I got a job at a summer camp. A camp for six-year-olds, all of whom appear to be out to get me.   Well it's an art camp and I like kids so really aside from the unbearable heat it was a pretty fun job. Except for that one girl from the first week. She was really like out there.

Day At The Museum

What, was I supposed to come up with a more creative title?   Before anyone asks, NO IT WAS NOT LIKE IN THE MOVIE. I'm not even certain the museum HAS a T-Rex skeleton. I'm not saying it doesn't, it could, and I naturally didn't get to see all of the museum, but if it did, it wasn't right there at the entrance. No, the entrance-- one of them, at least, it wasn't the one I entered through but it was where I exited-- the entrance is dominated by Allosaurus vs. Barosaurus. And Allosaurus is pret

I actually finished it yesterday. At least it wasn't time-consuming. Only six eps.   Where do I even start? Confusing does not even begin to describe this show.   What's funny is, I found the themes and symbolism easier to understand than the superficial plot. XD Coming-of-age, puberty, confusion, certain... er... other *cough* themes... easy enough to spot.   Aliens, MIB-esque agencies, some weird company (that isn't a company?), electric guitars, baseball bats, satellites, absurd style-shi

New York, New York

Wow. What a city.   I spent essentially from after dinner (7:15) to now (about 9, who knows when I'll finish typing this) walking the streets of New York.   Not any kind of complicated route (I'd get lost) but you really can just feel the flavor of the city... I spent some time sketching people who were playing basketball and soccer, and on the ones with a bit more detail to them... well, you just feel the attitude of New York. It's all so diverse. You see people of so many kinds... seniors in

That's right. The National Latin Exam was today.   Wonder if all the Latin III's around the country were the same? I really couldn't figure out the last sentence of the story, the one with the dragon and the final clause that read "so that he might sow with fruit (?) the orb of the Earth." That kind of caused me to not understand the last 3 questions of the test.   Also, who WAS Octavian's second wife? It WAS Octavian, right? The wife who convinced him to name her son as his heir (instead of,

Victory Dance!

I DON'T BELIEVE I BEAT IT!!!   Third form was easy as anything, and, well, I was kinda cheap on fourth form (there are videos of these crazy speedrunners playing this game, and one tactic is to intentionally get hurt on the spikes so you get the few seconds of invincibility and thus are able to pass through the spinny eye-thingies and get into the safe spot by the eye) but hey, I'm not crazy good at this game like some people are   Ooooh man it feels so good to finally have completed this ga
