So this past Friday I saw Watchmen with some former coworkers at an IMAX theater. I even managed to get some decent seats, despite some unthoughtful people that didn't like the idea of me saving them for my friends. And let me say, seeing any movie on IMAX is an amazing experience, especially when the movie you're seeing is as good as Watchmen.

So I went to the grocery store today because I needed some food. One of the things I needed was cereal. A&P has select General Mills cereal on sale for $1.99, which worked out to be ~$3.50 off, so a pretty good deal. Of course it was on the end cap of the aisle showing it off, which made me notice the big LEGO logo on some of the boxes, saying that a free Lego Racer was within. A short review of the stuff I've watched and read this weekend so far:
The Office - watched it online yesterday, much better than the episode after the Superbowl. Dwight is ridiculous.
Burn Notice - good show, Bruce Campbell is the man. Thursday's episode was some nice plot development.
Blood Diamond - watched it on HDDVD, oh yeah. It was quite a depressing movie. At the end it seemed like things were improving, then I watched a documentary in the special features to find out that things hadn

So I read the short story The Minority Report, by Philip K. Dick, tonight. It's the story the that Steven Spielberg/Tom Cruise movie is based on.

So incredibly different.
I'm a fan of good thought-provoking movies with decent amounts of action, and I thought The Minority Report was a good movie, but it's just so completely different from the story, and in this case, I think it actually benefits in some ways. The movie has a lot more emotion and even more plot twists than the story,

So it's New Years Eve and all that fun stuff, sure, but that's not what I'm here about today.
So yesterday I saw The Spirit, and was quite surprised by how decent it was. It was incredibly over-the-top to the point where it was making fun of itself, but that just made it better.

Probably the biggest news this week is the the 2009 sets have been spotted across the United States and elsewhere. So if you've been eagerly waiting for next year's sets (and seriously, who hasn't?) get checking at your local Target, Toys 'R' Us, or other fine retailer. Just try not to get trampled by the holiday crowds.

So I did 100% of my Christmas shopping online this year, which is awesome. Stores crowded with people beating each other up over the last Princess Unicorn on the shelves is not my idea of fun. On my last order, which arrived today, I added a couple Halo figures that Amazon had on sale for like 50% off. So I added the Series 3 Brute Chieftain and Elite Combat to my existing collection.
