Earlier today I registered for BrickFair 2012.   WHOOOOOOOP   Who else is coming this year?   (Also would anyone be interested in reading a blog entry about the insanity that happened at BrickFair 2011?)

Breakdown Cruise

The man from the repair shop knocked on our door at about 10:00 to tell us that our brake had been fixed. My dad went down the street to get it, as my mom and I packed up in the room. The problem was in the emergency brake, and we were told that we should be good as long as we remembered not to use it.   We set out back up the Cabot Trail, retracing our steps almost to the site of the brake-flame. Our destination was the gorgeous Skyline Trail, an almost five-mile trail on the top of French Moun

Blogarithm Contest #9: Vakama Eats Spam‽

As many of you know, my comedy The Adventures of Sumiki's Dad concluded after eight thrilling chapters, and work has begun on the second installment in the series. The Adventures of Sumiki's Dad 2: Vakama Eats Spam is coming soon to the Comedies forum. So what better way to celebrate than a contest?   New characters will complete Team Farm Animals in an exciting romp through the BIONICLE Universe. One of these new characters will be the winner of this contest.   Your job: Post, in this entry, yo

Blogarithm Contest #9 Winner!

After struggling mightily to cull excellent entries down to a lone winner, Sumiki's Dad has chosen Portalfig as the winner of Blogarithm Contest #9: Vakama Eats Spam‽   Portalfig will be featured in The Adventures of Sumiki's Dad 2: Vakama Eats Spam, to be posted shortly in the Comedies forum. In addition, Portalfig will receive a signed copy of The Adventures of Sumiki's Dad saga upon its completion—signed, of course, by Sumiki's Dad himself.   Dallior08 and Pohatu: Master of Stone came in seco

Blogarithm Contest #8: The Great Vine Challenge!

BrickFair is nearly upon us, and for the fourth consecutive year I will be attending.   Last year, Zatth, Xaeraz, and I went around the convention making all sorts of six-second videos on Vine. We had no shortage of ideas and I'm certain that this year will be no different - especially with Takuma Nuva in the mix.   In addition to our regular fare of insanity, the promise of a custom Vine was presented as a prize in the recent crowdfunding campaign. But that's not all that I have in mind.   So I

BLOGARITHM CONTEST #7: The Wisdom of Sumiki

Some of you may be wondering about me and my sanity due to my various profile updates, which have, as of late, been getting around outside BZP. There's now a Wisdom of Sumiki tumblr and twitter. (I cannot take credit for the operation of either of those accounts.) I also feel as if my activity on here has waned a bit, and I'd like to take a step towards rectifying it. Thus, I decided that it's time for another Blogarithm Contest.   Let's talk about my status updates for a minute - specifically,

Blogarithm Contest #6: Topic Closed!

Life as a Forum Assistant certainly has its perks: namely, topic closing. It's kind of fun, though I've only closed one so far. If I assisted in Q&A, COT, or GD, I'd be able to close topics on a more frequent basis, but I'm not complaining.   Topic closing comes with a downside, though. Some FAs - like me - are expected to be funny, for some reason. Oh, sure, I could go with two- or three-word closing statements, but that's no fun at all, since they're used all the time by others. The clever

Blogarithm Contest #6 - Polls!

There were an astounding number of entries to Blogarithm Contest #6. As such, I have not gone to the trouble of randomizing the entries. The twenty-one text entries will be equally split among three polls (teal, orange, and purple), while the entries that contain images have their own poll (blue) with eleven entries.   You may pick two entries from the first three polls, and you may pick three from the last poll. An overall wild-card will advance to the final poll as well.   Voting ends on Sunda

Blogarithm Contest #6 - Final Poll!

Here it is, folks. The moment you've all been waiting for. The Final Poll of Blogarithm Contest #6.   Let's get to it.   Polling ends on Thursday, October 4th at 11:59 PM Eastern.   Since a lot of entries were knotted up at three, I bent the rules a bit to allow an extra wild-card to slip in. I didn't want to have to choose - heck, that's what you guys are for!   Entry One: There once was a Post-it-here topic. When Sumi saw it, he became catatonic In reaction to this, He told the poster - "tsk t

Blogarithm Contest #5 - Biographical!

When I was promoted, I was reminded of this little old thing called a Staff Page, and told to get something on it posthaste. Trouble is, I started work on something, but I didn't like it too much. Then the page went kaput for a while.   Well, it's back - in fact, it's been back. The thing is, I don't like what I wrote, and I still don't.   That's what this is for. Your mission is to write up my Staff page biography. There may be prizes, but we'll have to see about that.   You have until Saturday

Blogarithm Contest #4: Fresh Salad!

THE ENTRY PERIOD IS NOW CLOSED.   Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to ...   "What is this?" you might dare to ask. "Why did you name a contest 'fresh salad'? Sumiks, are you mad?" Well, that I most certainly am, but the name does make sense in the context of the contest.   Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be: Build a MOC with a fruit or vegetable. A real, edible, tasty food item. The MOC must contain a fruit or vegetable as part of its construction - you can't photograph

Blogarithm Contest #2: Subtitles!

Blogarithm Contest #2: Subtitles!  You know, as owner and manager of a blog, it's awfully hard to come up with good subtitles. You think and think, but no matter what you come up with it just doesn't fit as a good subtitle.   So starting now, I'm putting the job of coming up with an all-new subtitle for Blogarithm in your hands. Starting today and ending at 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, October 25th, come up with the best subtitle that you can and post it here!   Voting will begin on Monday, Octobe
