Tuesday Tablescraps - 8/13/13 - The Hinklebot

The Tuesday Tablescraps make their triumphant return with the Hinklebot, a fusion mech that appeared at BrickFair VA '13, only to have its pilot replaced by a Kevin Hinkle minifigure.     | | | | Last semester's schedule meant that I rarely - if ever - had free Tuesdays. I've still built stuff, but I haven't posted them, much to my regret.

On Showrunners

In terms of changing fundamental aspects of Doctor Who, Russell T. Davies did more than Steven Moffat.   I'm not trying to advocate for Moffat's writing; I find it tedious, prone to overly emotional appeals, filled with plot holes, and beset with pacing issues. As far as good ideas for series go, each successive series since Matt Smith took over the role has been worse than the last, although I think Death in Heaven was an improvement over The Time of the Doctor. (To be fair, watching my toenail

From: Official My Little Pony Topic

Just seen the first two episodes of Season 2. The plot reminded me of something.   Six colourful characters, each wielding an element unite and combine their powers to seal the evil Teridax Discord in protodermis stone and bring peace to Metru Nui Ponyville.     Source: Official My Little Pony topic   so apparently we now know the reason why MLP is becoming so popular amongst the BIONICLE faithful   though I will admit, Toa seals do not come with rainbows

Blogarithm Contest #8: The Great Vine Challenge!

BrickFair is nearly upon us, and for the fourth consecutive year I will be attending.   Last year, Zatth, Xaeraz, and I went around the convention making all sorts of six-second videos on Vine. We had no shortage of ideas and I'm certain that this year will be no different - especially with Takuma Nuva in the mix.   In addition to our regular fare of insanity, the promise of a custom Vine was presented as a prize in the recent crowdfunding campaign. But that's not all that I have in mind.   So I

Matters of Pronunciation

Earlier today, I went into General Discussion and found that the TTV Podcast topic had been revived. I haven't been a part of that podcast since earlier this year, just a few short weeks after my initial promotion to Forum Mentor.   Some of my best memories of my time on TTV involved the MOCist Interviews that I did, at first along with the deep-voiced Tom (I'm unsure of his current BZP username), then with Brickeens alongside us. Eventually Tom quit, which left Brickeens and I to pester other M

Blogarithm Contest #6 - Polls!

There were an astounding number of entries to Blogarithm Contest #6. As such, I have not gone to the trouble of randomizing the entries. The twenty-one text entries will be equally split among three polls (teal, orange, and purple), while the entries that contain images have their own poll (blue) with eleven entries.   You may pick two entries from the first three polls, and you may pick three from the last poll. An overall wild-card will advance to the final poll as well.   Voting ends on Sunda

The Great American Road Trip II - 30 - The Last Full Measure

We got an early start and headed out of Alabama, soon making it to the Georgia state line and the Eastern time zone. From there we headed up to Atlanta, where I learned that tales of the city's traffic had not been exaggerated. We took the beltway around the city instead of going through it directly. I cannot imagine what kind of mayhem we'd have run into if we'd gone right through, as the drivers on the beltway were crazy enough. (I learned why signals are so rarely used: as soon as you turn on

Dear Bonkle Fandom:

G1 and G2 are not related.   Yes, they're reusing names, and they're reusing elements, and the Vahi keeps cropping up in hidden ways. But other franchises have gone through reboots, and no other fandom has attempted to connect generations as I've seen here.   Please stop trying to connect them.   Sincerely, Sumiki

The Spokane Word

-----All online evidence pointed to us having a five-hour drive day ahead, which is a good amount for an average day on the return journey. From Olympia, we were to travel north to Tacoma before splitting off of I-5 and joining I-90 as it traverses the state eastbound. But there wasn't anything to really break the trip up, as five hours in the car isn't daunting so much as the thought of going that distance with no significant breaks in the action.   -----Tacoma is the home of the Tacoma Rainier

Blogarithm Contest #6 - Tiebreaker!

Oh no, this isn't over yet.   Two entries tied at the end of the final poll - so now it's time for the tiebreaker poll.   Poll closes on Saturday, October 6th at 11:59 Eastern.   Entry One:   Entry Two: What!? How'd you--!? Oh, well, you may have made it past my plunger locks, the double plunger locks, the laser locks, the electric locks, and the motorized locks, made it past all of my guards and sentries, and broken every BZP rule in the book, but YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT PAST MY TOPIC LOCKS! Why?

My Apologies

For some reason I thought yesterday was Monday. Around midnight I realized that I had neglected to post my Tuesday Tablescrap for this week.   While in weeks past I've been less attentive to such forgetfulness, this is the week I actually feel pretty bad about it.   So, to make up for it, here's a picture of Meiko with panda-fez-glasses swag:     You're welcome, BZPower.
