Passport

I finally got my official US Passport in the mail today. I had some issues with the registration 'cause I was technically born in Canada to two US citizens, but the lady at the registration desk was all like "OMG foreign Canadian we can't give you passport arg!" (I'm pretty sure that's exactly what she said.) So we sent in a ton of paperwork documenting the official existence of me and my parents. But then my official birth certificate that I sent in wasn't official enough, so I had to call

Road Trip?

I am feeling weirdly nostalgic about Colorado. I haven't been there in like 9 years, even though that's where I define myself "growing up." (Growing responsible... I've done that over here in the Pacific Northwest for almost the last decade) I remember a whole bunch of the cool natural features of where I used to live, but you don't really appreciate that kind of stuff as a kid. I wanna go back as an adult and re see all the stuff from my childhood. Even if it's a little disappointing. (Li

Gah Not Homework Again!

So the book does a quick introduction of logarithms, assuming like you're new to this, and then for chapter 1 homework it starts throwing you complex equations to solve. >.<   Granted, this is a computer science class, so the higher math shouldn't matter THAT much, but still... I'm sick of taking higher math, and I tried to get into a major that didn't use it constantly, and then BAM I get switched back into it.   On a brighter note, by schedule of full time schooling and full time work

Hey Look I Posted A Story!

Setting expectations for 100+ views (not counting my own) before I finish posting all the chapter. Yay for setting low expectations!   So I just posted a new epic, A Shadow's Contrivance (review topic). It's a sequel to my story Kulagi's Kanoka, featuring the same Onu-Matoran Kanoka Maker, but this time he and his friends are in the middle of the Toa and Dark Hunter war in Metru Nui.   I wrote the original story for these characters in 2006, and posted in 2007. Sometime later, I started writing

Review 70751: Temple of Airjitzu

To take a break from official front page reviews, I’m going to do a couple of blog review. Mostly these were sets that I was planning to review, but for one reason or another they didn’t end up making it to the front page. (In this case, the Airjitzu Temple was just too large.) So here are some thoughts but without all the super details and pictures and video. (I mean, some pictures, but they’re not great quality cause I already had this on display and I wasn’t going to move it just for a photo

Remember

I never had any personal connections to the 9-11 attacked. I lived on the opposite end of the country, and I didn't have any family involved. But, like anybody else, this tragic event effected me too. It shattered my perfect world vision... there were people out there who don't like us, and they were willing to do something about it.   When I got home from school on the afternoon of September 11, 2001, I watched the news until I got sick. It probably would've been better if they had just ai

Ballot By Mail

I almost didn't vote this year. I had registered myself in the city where I was going to school two years ago for the presidential election. But I have since moved back home, in a different count, which meant I had to go about changing my address... which turned into a more complicated process than I expected. (And I also had to do it a month and a half early, and thus I missed the deadline).   So having messed that up, I expected my ballot to get forwarded to me from the city, but it turns

Blog Story: Chapter A

Disclaimer: The characters in this story are named after real members, but their personalities and traits are fictional and are not meant to reflect on my opinions of the actual members. This is a work of fiction, and I hope you enjoy it.   Chapter A   Xccj stalked the dark forests of BZP-Koro in the middle of the night. Earlier that day, there had been a news announcement. Bionicle, the theme that BZP-Koro was built around, was ending. Many people were still in shock from the news, but not Xccj

Ka Boom Goes The Typewriter.

An explosion of written material. (I'd say creativity, but I haven't been creative recently... I'm just finally put down my creative thoughts into text)   Anyway, a few updates for y'all who actually read my stories.   First of all, I have finally updated Many Adventures with Chapter 4. This is a good idea gone wrong, as with my studies I feel I don't have enough time to get quality chapters out at a decent rate. I'll continue to try and work on it, but I fear that lengthy time intervals be

Changed My Mind...

Okay, my original idea for the newest story contest was to retell parks of Duka's story (based of his short Epicfest story and his adventures in Time Disruption) using the song Come Sail Away by Styx. But when I started planning it out, it seemed rather slow and repetitive. While I may eventually write the whole thing out and post it anyway, I want something a little more appealing for my contest entry.   I was thinking of creating a fight between Nuparu Inika and a Piraka, while using Tom Pe

Survived It

I braved the storm and crowd and went shopping today, the last weekend before Christmas.   The crowd wasn't that bad... especially considering what day it is... but the weather was terrible. Lots of snow and wind and everything. Almost whiteout conditions on out way home. Now, this might seem normal place in Colorado or Alaska or Yellowknife or even the Cascades... but we don't usually get it this bad down where we live.   I hope our power doesn't go out again. It turns out last time a nei

No Seriously I'm Going To Do That

Yesterday I wrote a big list of projects that need to be done soon.   And after lots of planning, arguments, and other junk, I've been able to cross off...   One item.   >.<   Not quite in panic mode but I'm about ready for summer vacaction to just show up... except then I have to work.

Earthquake in the PNW

So I guess the other day was "Massive Earthquake awareness in the Pacific Northwest Day" due to an article posted by the NewYorker detailing the chances and consequences of a massive 9.0+ quake in the region. I knew most of the science behind it, but I didn't quite realize how woefully unprepared we are. Like, best estimates, we won't get electricity back for three weeks, running water for two months! Come on, my life it totally online, I don't know how I'd manage that! (I mean, I've done extend

Need Opinions On Convention Mosaics

So a month ago I posted a blog asking for opinions on Bionicle mosaic projects for the two Northwest conventions I’ll be attending, Bricks Cascade and BrickCon. Hahli Husky, Black Six, and Kakaru all said they’d be willing to send a piece in, but I didn’t get much else besides that. (Swert commented too but I know he can’t send a piece in… It’s okay, we’re working on our Mata Nui Island project that’s gonna be epic.) The conventions are edging closer, so I would like some more opinions.   1

Heroes Spoilers. Beware.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «HIRO DIDN'T KILL ANDO!!  Haven't even finished the show yet, but that part is soo cool. Will update more of my thoughts later.   Yes, and Hiro and Ando are yet again on the path to "save the world"... I hope.   And I hope Parkman and his turtle go far. Really, at the end of season II, I was sure Parkman was gonna become one of the "villains." But it looks like he's staying on the right side (considering his dad

New In The Talkback Topic

So my last review didn't go over very well because of the database issue on the front page. Bummer.   But with a little bit of code tweaking, I switched it from HTML to BB and now it's good to get posted in the forums!   As such, you can view the full review in the Talkback Topic. And seriously, I described what I liked and didn't like about it there... if there's gonna be argument over how good it is, I should at least be able to get my say in.   (Granted, it's the only Serpentine vehicle t
