Blog Story: Chapter A

Disclaimer: The characters in this story are named after real members, but their personalities and traits are fictional and are not meant to reflect on my opinions of the actual members. This is a work of fiction, and I hope you enjoy it.   Chapter A   Xccj stalked the dark forests of BZP-Koro in the middle of the night. Earlier that day, there had been a news announcement. Bionicle, the theme that BZP-Koro was built around, was ending. Many people were still in shock from the news, but not Xccj

Blog Calendar

Okay, I don't know how many others have noticed this, but it's been driving me crazy all month.   The Calendar content block in my blog isn't working!   Well, not correctly, anyway.   According to it, I've posted every day in January... even the days that have yet to occur.   I'm not 100% sure on this, but instead of marking what days I post on, I think it highlighted another day for each entry I've posted. (And I did my big blog story which was about 27 entries itself)   Now, I'll ha

I need to find something better to do in my spare time than coming up with blog entries. Man, I am boring.

Black Miru

Anybody know where I can get a black Miru Mata. You know, one of the original 72 masks from 01? I found a couple of places, but they're like ridiculasly expensive. Was it that rare of a mask?

Black Female Fig Head

So since Lego has started making realistic skin tone heads, we've started wanting more shades. Characters from Indiana Jones and Super Heroes got these cool shades of black or dark flesh, but they were all male. Why couldn't we have a larger palette of female heads? After all, there are so many characters that could be made (Zoe from Firefly, Leena from WH13, Cassie from Animorphs... some examples I've been wanting anyway.) Now there have been some female heads in light flesh, but when would

Bitter Sweet

Uh, yeah.   I just got back from a collage trip, looking at a top notch university that I may be going to. While alot of it was kinda dull, it's an exciting experience and I think I know where I'm going. They're engineering courses are good, but allow for some other things to do as well, like maybe even drama...   The irony cuts deep that, when I get home, I hear about this shooting at another university across the country. It just kinda makes me sick to think that kind of stuff still happe

Bitil

A Makuta from the swamp! It's Bitil the Beetle, but without the good music. He is my fourth Mistika purchase, also my second Makuta purchase, so how does he add up?   The basic design works, but it's not all too impressive. You've just got one of the new Matoran bodies with basic Rahkshi leg limbs. It's a little boring. I thought the most remarkable thing about him would be his wings, but they're not terribly good. The Slizer arms look good for making poses, but he doesn't have a majestic

Birthday Loot

So I came home for the weekend for a birthday dinner... turns out there were also presents too.   I got a T-shirt, a box of Goldfish, a WWII book, and a walking stick for hiking.   I also got Tarix and Gresh, which is a shame because I already have those, so I'm thinking of returning them and either saving the money for 2010, or buying an Indy set.   But the dinner was the best part.

Birthday Blues...

I dunno how many people got the "Horoscope" reference was to get people to realize that it was my B-day, but it didn't seem to work all that well.   Anyhow... tis probably been the worst birthday ever. Thanks to everybody on BZP who gave my birthday well-wishes, that was nice, but I didn't get a topic. (selfishness alert!!) My parents apparently sent me a package, but no mail on Sunday. Oh yeah, and I have like a TON of homework. I finished most of my chem homework (with a lot of help

Bird of a Feather... er, Brick

Lego Store visit paid off. (Just in case this goes the way of other Cuusoo / Ideas sets and disappears quickly.)   Also FYI although there are like 3 polybag deals you can get with Lego right now, my store would only give my one bag even tho I qualified for all of em. But I went online and was able to get all three deals. So that's a better option really... except I didn't want to risk not getting the Birds and I wanted Gali in hand... so yeah. (BTW, I got Gali, and Onua has been ordered. I'll f

Bionicle Window Decals?

How can I make this happen??   I've seen other pop culture decals on cars and I'm thinking I would like to have the original Kanohi on the back of mine. But how easy / difficult is it to get something like that printed? (And not bumper stickers... window decals are easy to move around if need be.)   Also kinda surprised I didn't blog at all in April or May. I mean, I've been a'lurkin' but just haven't posted stuff I guess. Been busy with life and work mostly work.   And, since I guess I haven't

Bionicle Toa Lewa And Toa Onua Pens

I mentioned my interest in getting some of these pens for the masks. Well, I managed to purchase two, and they finally got in. (I’m still not done with my search… four more to go.) Since I have them, I’m going to make it into a review! (Can’t go on the front page tho. Something about an 11 year old, rare-to-begin-with product that’s super hard to find even nowadays...)     First off, the packaging for this is very neat. I believe it follows the standard design for Lego pens back in the day; i

Bionicle Quotes Are Useful!

"Hordika. The dark of all of us that we believed progress has made us forget."   Or something like that. Strangely, I cannot find that direct quote anywhere, and I don't have the movie or book to directly look at right now, so...   Anyway, I am using the last half of the quote for an English essay about, well, the Hordika in us all. (Except I'm talking about basic shortcomings in human nature, and not necessarily Visorak venom).   The fact that I even thought of using this proves I am way

Bionicle Quest For Makuta

I am so behind on so many things BZP-wise that its scary that I'm not being beaten with clubs in multiple directions. And it's going to get worst. I will be starting school soon, full time, while also continuing to go to work, also full time. Forget BZP, I'm gonna have trouble fitting sleep into my day. (And I like my sleep)   Anyway, in a massive cleansing of my room (where most of my stuff was either thrown away or put into hard-to-access boxes) I came across the old Bionicle Quest for Ma

Bionicle Pens

So Swert told me that he got to play with these old Bionicle pens at his job. They had mini masks on them that would attach to the beads. They would be perfect for mini Toa, and now I desperately want to buy one. Problem is, Swert's not selling. (Technically, it's his boss's, who probably won't sell either.)   I look online in various trading places with no luck. So I thought to myself "Where can I found a bunch of Bionicle enthusiasts who might have had these pens from years ago but now ju

Bionicle Mosaics For Bricks Cascade And Brick Con

Unless you live under a rock (IE don’t read the front page often… which a surprising amount of people don’t seem to do) you’ll know the huge success that the Bionicle Mosaics have had at BrickFair these last two years. Chocolate Frogs and Nukaya organized the projects, and then regular members brought or sent in the pieces. They’re working on another one for this year too, but that’s not what this blog is about.   See, BrickFair may be the largest convention for BZPower folks, but it’s not the

Bionicle Legends 7 Is Mine

Finally went to my local Borders and saw it in stock... this is my forth trip though, so the waste of gas probably made for an overall loss. And the book didn't seem to be nearly as good as I was hoping... a lot of characters but it was very fast-pased so they didn't go into as much detail as in some of the past books. I liked Bionicle Legends 6 better, although Bionicle Legends 7 more than doubles the cast of characters. Fortunatly, there were plenty of nifty surprises that make it worth rea

Bionicle House

Bionicle House 01 by Xccj, on Flickr   A while back, somebody was complaining about the Bionicle system's limitations, and said something to the effect of "You can't build a house with it." To me, that meant, "Challenge Accepted!"   This is a fairly basic design made primarily using limb elements, with the interior supported with technic beams and such. I ran out of Rahkshi legs in dark bley, so I used some in classic dark gray as a stand in. I can't really tell the difference in person, but it

Bionicle Graphic Novel #1

Today I picked up the graphic collection of the first Bionicle comics at B&N. A little pricey, but it's excellent! All the pages are colorful and glossy, just as good as the original comics, or even better. True, it is a little bit smaller, but the artwork looks just the same. In fact, considering how thick each page is, I'm surprised its only a couple dollars more than the regular books.   Now, why did I get this book? I already know the story by heart... and I have half the lines mem

Bionicle Double-Decker Couch

I haven't blogged much lately, so I'm gonna start out with a new MOC I've been working on for a while...     I have yet to see a Double-Decker Couch built out of Bionicle elements yet, so I went ahead and built one myself. Granted, it's a little messy and not very stable, especially since the characters are just barely attached to it. But I think it comes off well.   That is a new Matoran design, and while I'd like to say it's mostly Bionicle, that's kinda untrue. The torsos are primarily syste

Bionicle Collaborative Mosaics: A History

I’ve been involved with a lot of awesome Bionicle Collaborative Mosaic projects that’s wowed the public at various conventions. (Or so I’d like to hope.) So I’ve decided to compile a list of em, with their size, where they showed up, and who helped make them. (I’m seeing a lot of repeated names too.) I've included some images, where I can find them. The first is the final design image that I got from the Mosaic Makers. (I still use Pic-to-Brick.) The second image is the finish mosaic at the conv
