About this blog

But now is not the time

Entries in this blog

So Nukaya and I were talking about BIONICLE-based kids' names...

So Maddison and I were trying to come up with ridiculous kids' names if we someday far, far, far, far, far, far away from now decide to have some for some reason. We were like "OMG, let's name them after BIONICLE characters, [Maddison's] mom would hate that!!"   (One of our side projects is to come up with names, like we did for our new kitten [Purroblem Sleuth] that Maddison's mom hates and refuses to say.)   We decided on two kids, and they will have the following names:   Good Guy, and her br

Finally did the thing

I've never owned a handheld video game system in my entire life. My family wasn't very well off, and we could never afford them, though we did end up with a Sega Genesis, N64, and a Gamecube. Most of those were because my dad worked for Blockbuster Video back in the day, and then worked/works at a Sam's Club, and got them on the cheap. Also, the Gamecube came with Wind Waker and was a birthday present for all three of us in one go, so I guess it was affordable that way?   I digress,   Maddison a

Massive Amounts of Stuff

What was even the last thing I posted? There's been a ton of stuff going on. It's a little crazy.   So first, I have an entire album of just way too many photos of basically just the BIONICLE section from BrickfairVA.     It was a crazy good time. I'll have photos from the Nervous Pudding concert up eventually too!   I had to delay editing these photos because just two weeks after Brickfair ended, Maddison and I flew out to Oklahoma for a wedding we were paid to shoot. My friends Jesse and Cady

DONE

Here are a few things people need to know if they are going to continue with their blogging, replying to blogs, and interactions with BZPower in general.   Because I am DONE WITH THIS. You do not get to "disagree" with who someone is. Someone's identity or sexuality are not up for debate. They are what they are, and you do not have the right to tell them they are wrong. And if you have the urge to do so? Congratulations, you are what's wrong. You do not get to insult and dehumanize someone. Thi

A few things

If you are not a premier member, you're not allowed to keep using your blog. So stop.   Also, I am at Brickfair with lots of other awesome people, and it is awesome. As per the usual.   Also also, you can indeed talk about evolution on BZPower, because it's science, not religion or politics.

Brickfair

I have too many MOCs and packing them all up is hard.   That is all.   Brickfair-bound tomorrow! Our flight leaves Portland at 5:50AM PST.   It's gonna be a long day of airplanes and airports.

So much stuff

So in the last month I've been pretty busy during my time off from work, but not really in a way that would stop me from updating this. I just kind of forgot to.   I had a friend visit Portland a few weeks back, and we took him to Saturday Market, a Farmer's Market that happens at Portland State University, ran into a random French Festival downtown, ate at food carts, saw the Rose Gardens, went to thrift stores, and ate at a restaurant decorated with pictures of drag queens.   Basically, the qu

Oklahomeward bound

Nukaya and I are probably about an hour away from finishing up our packing, getting in the car, and heading out on a glorious 30 hour drive back to my home- Oklahoma. You've probably seen it a lot in the news lately, and yes, everyone I love down there is safe. I wish it was so for everyone who loves someone down there.   Luckily, amongst such sobering tragedies, we are headed home to visit with friends, family, celebrate my birthday, and we're really there for the weddings of two of my great fr

==> ?

Hey yo, I'm the BZPower staff interview guy this month, fill my inbox with questions! Silly ones are great, but this is also your chance to ask me anything you want about my MOCs and style, my interactions, LEGO conventions, moving across country because of a BZP member, running the blogs, etc. If you've ever wanted to know something, ask!

Your opinions are wrong

Unless you agree that the new Fall Out Boy album is pretty much going to be the greatest thing ever.   You have no idea how much I just keep thinking about it and getting excited and AHHHHHHAHSHSKJAHGK;GH;KH;K!!   I WANT THIS ALBUM SO BADLY AND I DON'T EVEN CARE WHAT YOU THINK

Bricks Cascade 2013!

(Image links to my Flickr gallery photos from the event!)   So first things first, Rob (Janus), Becca (Hahli Husky), Micah (Kakaru), Maddison (Nukaya), Myself (DeeVee), and Doug (Doug), won the speed build. By a lot. This is our victory image.   Greatest Hits: BEST BIONICLE trophy, BEST TOA "MODERATOR" trophy, BEST USE OF PARTS trophy, and BEST RAHI trophy.   Cascade was a lot of fun. I went to work at 4:30am that Thursday, clocked out at 9:45am, and then picked Micah up from the airport around

Today

Today I wrote a 5 page paper in an hour. It only needed to be 3 pages. What am I doing?   Also, sorry for sucking at updating, Maddison and I have been doing actually interesting things with lots of pictures and I keep saying "I'll update the blog once I finish editing those photos!" And then another activity comes up and I forget to make the last entry.   So, real entries soon! I'll do Cascade first, and then work backwards!

FURRYOUS POLLING

OMG LOOK AT THESE POLLS   Also, some of the names had to get shortened (some by a lot) because with the URL and IMG tags in the field, the field exceeded the allowed number of characters, so I had to make cuts where I could, which, considering the others were links and tags, were solely in the names. Sorry!   Also, next contest? Everyone is required to submit a thumbnail too. Yeesh.

Prep

I've a small yet growing contingent of MOCs that I take with me to conventions. I take the same ones every year to every convention plus whatever I've built since the last time, so I've a pretty good sampling of MOCs of mine from 2008 to now. It's kind of crazy to look at all of them and see how different they all are from each other, and to see obvious design growth and whatnot.   Anyway, at the end of every convention, they go back into plastic bags, and don't normally come out until the next

Coffee Mug

We did a secret santa thing at work, and one of my supervisors rigged it so I'd get her name, because she wanted me to build her a gift out of LEGO. So, I made her a coffee mug (since we work at Starbucks, you see). It took awhile, mostly because I had to wait for two Bricklink orders in order to finish it.   Anyway, this is it:

In other con news

So because we found a crazy good deal ($285 roundtrip each), Nukaya and I bought airline tickets for Brickfair VA today.   I really can't believe how cheap those are. They were $531 roundtrip the first time we looked, when I started my weekly trip-checker emails.   We highly doubt they'll get much cheaper, and booked immediately. That's cheaper than the Greyhound we've been taking the last three years, too! Plus this way we don't have to ask for four to six extra days off from work for travel!

[S] CASCADE

This year Bricks Cascade is in March! That is really soon!   Take a look at this news story! And for background info, this entry from last year!   We're doing something similar this year. First, if you mailed in MOCs to BFAlabama, they are being shipped up here to me for Cascade this week, from what I understand. Those will be on display at Cascade, and then I believe I will be mailing them up to Andrew for BFNew England, and he'll drive them down to the real Brickfair in VA.   If you didn't mai
