3ds In 15 Days

And as such, I assume the release roster is finalized, and so I'm forced to ask.

NINTENDO

Y U NO GIVE 3DS RELEASE FIRST-PARTY SUPPORT

Seriously, hopefully the reviews will correct me, but of the three release-day Nintendo games, two seem like arcade games, and the other is Nintendogs, which is adorable, but reminds me of the Tamagotchi toys - They seem cool, and they're cute, but they're not a lot of fun. Why withhold the Ocarina or Star Fox remakes? I don't know this since I don't know much about game code, someone who does correct me if wrong, but those are in-large already made, since they're remakes. They just need kinks to be worked out with the new controls and such, which, based on all the first-hand previews I've read, were few in number. Granted, with the LoZ remake, I can kind of understand since it turns out Master Quest has been added - To my delight - and as such, needs to be worked out, but I can't think of an excuse for the Star Fox 64 remake. Relatedly, the impressions of Kid Icarus: Uprising have also already been overwhelmingly positive, albeit there were some annoyed with the switch from platformer to TPS, why's it being delayed?

It bugs me that the only 3DS release titles that interest me is Resident Evil: Mercenaries, and even then it's in the bottom of the five games I'm looking forward to. are Ridge Racer and Asphalt, and even then, unless there's a large enough sale of them to assure online gaming, it doesn't garner much.

I'm not taking down my pre-reserve though - Based on my experiences with the DS and Wii, when Nintendo turns on the hype machine and releases a new system, you either pre-reserve it and get it that way, wait in line to get it, or you don't get it for a few months, if you're lucky only that long. I already put the pre-reserve down, so the second is out of mind, and the third is easily the least-desirable option; If the 3D tanks and no games come out for a while, just because it's a new Nintendo system that's hard to find, I can toss it on eBay and make a profit. It'd just be silly to withdraw the reserve, but I wish I didn't have to approach it from this standpoint.

But come on Nintendo, please announce a surprise release title for the 3DS everyone wants to see? I don't want to buy it and have it sit collecting dust for two months.

That bad marketing right there.

You not taking down the reservation qualifies you as a core-gamer though ;)

Personally I never cared much for Nintendo. My hype goes out to Crysis 2.

Considering that I've played through OOT dozens of times and own it for two systems, I'm not exactly concerned that the 3DS rehash isn't coming out immediately.

Also, where did you get the announcement that RE: Mercenaries is going to be a launch title? None of my lists are showing it as such. The tentative release date is July 6th.

Street Fighter is the only launch game I'd say I'm excited for, although I have some interest in Pilotwing, Steel Diver and Ridge Racer.

Paper Mario is far and away the game I'm most excited for, though. I love that series so much, plus I correctly predicted it at E3 last year. =P

We know OoT is coming June 7, so that's pretty nice. The thing is, there's just so many awesome 3DS games announced, we know we're going to get something awesome this year.

Indeed. And I'm never sure whether that term is a compliment, or if I'm being compared to the guys who spend all day in their basement cussing out ten-year olds on Xbox Live. :P

I've only played all the way through once, and even then I haven't even started Master Quest, so I'm fairly looking forward to the remake, if only because I know I'll enjoy it, and it'd be a good way to test out the system since I can compare the original.

And after checking my source, it would appear I misread. This is rather depressing. In the event I misread anything else then, can someone get me a definite-ish list of release titles?

Ridge Racer got my interest as well, though I've never been big on racing games. They are great fun with multiplayer though, so that could easily justify it as long as it's in the $30-$40 range instead of the $45-$55 range some games charge. And I'm looking forward to Paper Mario as well, though I try not to get too excited for a game until a more definite release date is given than "quarter X, next year" But given the way the series plays with perspective, it's going to be a delight when it arrives.

And I know it's going to have some games that'll be good within a year, but it's so hard to wait, especially when it's a new system with a sink-or-soar situation like commercially affordable 3D sans glasses.

I heard the games were going be running between forty five + dollars, which majorly turned me off.

I mean seriously, even the Pokemon games, the flagship games, only run a little over forty on average; the average DS game is only thirty, so now the price jumps fifteen plus dollars?

I can get PC games cheaper. :|

I've never really understood why games need to be fifty dollars to begin with; the disc sure as heck isn't what's raising the price. I understand there's hundreds of code grunts that need to be payed, but they're getting minimum wage; so when I buy a game, a good three quarters of it is going directly into the pockets of some execs that probably never did anything to benefit the game beyond go to E3 and talk about it.

Not to say all execs are evil; some of them actually earned their job, after all.

Probably is the disk and packaging and transport, actually.

That's why you'll never see Mass Effect 2 discs on sale for 20 bucks any time in the near future, while Steam can pop that up every now and then.

I'm just waiting for new colors. I want another DS anyway for trading Pokémon with myself, and it would seem wasteful to get another old DS.

But the blue and black don't appeal to me so~

Considering I can go and buy a hundred DVDs for ten dollars, that puts it around a dime per disk, so I highly doubt it's the disc that's driving the price, considering they'd buy it even more in bulk getting a further discount. Packing and transport I can believe, though.

Hopefully when everything goes digital the price will reduce down.
