Well, the task was to write some sentences using the linking phrases we'd studied in class some time before. Feeling a bit bored with the task, I came up with this:

• 1. I decided to enter the zombie battling squad although I was extremely unsure about my abilities.
  
• 2. They had warned me about the zombie apocalypse, however, I had refused to listen,.
  
• 3. Since Zombies infect people by biting them, I was sure nothing would happen to me.
  
• 4. I was deeply convinced that I was immortal, so I went out without any kind of armour or weapon.
  
• 5. I had been very foolish to go without any protection, whereas my colleagues had prepared themselves.
  
• 6. Consequently, I was the first to get bitten.
  
• 7. I knew I would only have a few more years to ‘live’, unless I would find a way to stop the process of decaying.
  
• 8. Unlike me, the others did very well with battling the raging horde.
  
• 9. Things got really bad when they suddenly aimed at me, for even though I had become a zombie, I had no intent to hurt them.
  
• 10. I could have done something easier instead.
  
• 11. But since I considered my second death to be inevitable if I stayed, I turned around and ran.
  
• 12. Provided that I was a zombie, I was not really fast.
  
• 13. Hence I could barely escape them.
  
• 14. Nonetheless, after a short chase, I found a nice dark place to hide.
  
• 15. I knew that they couldn’t waste their time on looking for me; they still got attacked by the other zombies, whereas I went by unnoticed.
  
• 16. Additionally, if they didn’t find me, I wouldn’t be a long-time threat anyway.
