Want More Music

Gimme some recommendations? I'd prefer no country, rap, or pop, if possible. Bluegrass is fine, before you ask.

What about Synthpop, which only has 'pop' probably because there was no other real way to name the genre?

If that's able to happen, the I'll lead off with my typical suggestion of Iris. =)

Since you mentioned Bluegrass, Punch Brothers are a great band.

I also recommend Jenny Owen Youngs, The Protomen, the Ditty Bops, Franz Ferdinand, Biffy Clyro (start with the newest album), The Protomen, Mika, Florence + the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Jonathan Coulton, The Protomen, Flight of the Conchords, fun, Tom Lehrer, Justice, My Chemical Romance, and the Hadestown album.

That's not counting the classics like Queen and The Beatles or my collection of soundtracks.

Or my singles.

I've been meaning to listen to the Protomen... Any song in particular to start on?

Xaeraz: Alright. Have you heard anything from Depeche Mode? If not, then I suggest them as well, I like 'Everything Counts', 'Enjoy The Silence(That name makes little sense, but whatever. =P)', and 'Precious', though 'A Pain That I'm Used To' is very good too. =D

And for Iris, I'd say 'When I'm Not Around', 'In Spite', 'Intercede Light', 'Endless', and 'Loom', just to name a few. =D

The fact that I've actually heard of several of those groups makes me more willing to try the rest.

@Pit: I'd recommend "The Hounds," since that was the first Protomen song I ever heard.

You should check out Tally Hall. One of the band members (Rob) is the guy behind "Shia LaBeouf".

They've got two albums so far. Their debut, Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, has songs that range through several different genres, which include a lot of fun, surreal, absurd, and even some dark and sad themes. The band is often compared to the Beatles for their vocal harmonies and overall fun style.

Their second album, Good & Evil, is significantly more mature and serious than the first, but also a lot deeper and generally thematically unified, while retaining their same knack for original tunes and excellent vocal harmonies.

I'd go on, but I suck at music reviews/recommendations.
