Fiberglass resin

Oh I have missed that smell so much.

It's a smell that means stuff is happening and being made.

Sure the smell of spray paint is okay I guess.

But resin, man.

Heh

I've been wanting to use fiberglass for a while. But from what I hear, the smell isn't that great.

Also, since you seem to be using fiberglass, I was wondering; Do you need to use a vapor respirator at all times, or do you not need it when you are outside?

Fiberglass itself is difficult and tricky depending on how you do it. Plus it'll give you nasty slivers or cuts if you're not careful. Not quite as bad as carbon fiber, but still. Watch out for sharp or ragged edges once the resin has hardened it. Sanding it down usually helps, but be careful while doing so.

As for the vapor respirator, yes, use one. Even if you're outside, the fumes can get pretty intense, and I don't doubt they could be extremely harmful in the wrong conditions. I usually wear a respirator, goggles, and nitrile gloves if I'm doing any kind of resin, epoxy, paint, or heavy sanding work. Read the warning labels and instructions to make sure you know what you're dealing with, too. (e: also, just in general, any kind of work that gives off fumes should be done in a well-ventilated area so they don't get overwhelming; go outside or find somewhere that has a fume hood)

When I talk about the smell, I'm mainly referring to the faint traces left after it's cured and hardened, where you really have to stick your nose in it to smell anything (but don't actually try this). It's a smell I associate with the making of cool stuff.
