Ganon WIP

Obsessionist

I rarely post WIPs, but I'd really appreciate any feedback on this. It's a WIP of Ganon's head from OOT. I used screenshots, official art, and a paper craft of the in-game model to try and replicate his face. I'm not sure it really feels like the head of the massive monster Ganon is, though. Really his head is this strange dark green color, but it's so dark during the battle I thought black would be more appropriate. Plus his eyes are positioned correctly, but without the dark atmosphere they seem goofy.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Feedback? I really want your opinion, I feel like mine is warped from struggling with this thing too much.

Also Bricklink! I only needed ten of these pieces for a Link MOC this Ganon will be to scale to, but how could I resist cheap pin connectors?

The horns aren't organic enough. The straight edges of the system bricks really ruins the deadly horn look. Otherwise, I just wish you could get that gnarly mouth of his in there. But this looks good!

Agreed with DV on the horns. also I think their general shape is slightly off, they should ideally go out a bit further from the sides of the head, curve downwards to finally go back up. I also don't quite like the ball joint hair, I don't suppose you have hoses or flex tubes to fill that function? Otherwise though, I'll be looking forwards too seeing progress on this. There really are not enough Legend of Zelda MOCs.

This is helpful! I tried a bunch of ways to get the mouth in there, but they were all disproportionate. Ganon's jaw and teeth are just too small, plus the nose is in the way. Thinking of it now, though, it might be worth fiddling with some minifig handlebars and white minifig hands...

I'm glad you guys brought up the horns. I don't think you can see it, but each horn is attached to one of this type of hinge by a single stud, so all sorts of angles are possible. Would tilting the horns in more help? I might try to mess with the shape, but at this scale if I try to much curve it ends up looking less like a curved horn than a solid block of system plates.

I don't have red flex tubing. I was thought the HF joints looked really accurate, definitely wider than tubing. I'm going to have to Bricklink some for this MOC anyway, though, so I might pick up some red ribbed tubing to experiment with. Thanks for the imput!

Or try dark red tentacle tips mixed with other dark red parts?

The texture of his... mane, I guess?... isn't that smooth. It's a few big, textured ponytail-ish things. Tentacle tips and related elements aren't quite as wide and bumpy as I'd like.
