This book may be a long time coming, but I'll be glad I took it slow by the time it finishes.

All the same, I should probably actually start writing it one day. :lookaround:

Derek "Loverboy" Walker: Veteren leader of the elite aerial combat squad for megacorporation BioTech's security force. During a vicious dogfight he is betrayed and handed over to the D'kati, human beings with supernatural powers that are able to turn into wyverns xor dragons at will.

Francis "Scuzzy/SCSI" Carmichael: Heavily augmented cyber-sentinel for BioTech, he specializes in network/computer technology, virtual/artificial intelligence, and nanobot development. Never one to take things at face value, he's skeptical about the claims that the long-thought-extinct D'kati are responsible for the attacks on BioTech facilities.

Zek-24: Android built by Francis Carmichael, could be the first true artificial intelligence, but the droid itself with neither confirm nor deny such a claim. Favors tactics which result in grotesque displays of dismemberment and spends many data-cycles pondering human philosophy. The closest thing to an intelligent being to ever survive a trip through The Void.

Velorna Vel'non: D'kati of fire, she possesses incredible endurance, is resistant to temperature extremes, and is able to apply outward force with a thought. She suffers from a fatal, incurable condition known to the D'kati as "extinguishment". As such, she has left the front lines and spends her final days speaking with the D'kati's sole prisoner: Derek Walker.

Gellock Vel'non: D'kati wyvern and brother of Velorna. Has spent the past five years in a special, now unlawful, hibernation intended to hasten one's metamorphosis from wyvern-kind to dragon-kind. Brash and eager for adventure, he has several years worth of maturing to make up for when he finally awakens.

Dirk Vo'kon: D'kati of electricity. No other member of the D'kati militia is as adept at Jes'von'u, the D'kati fighting form. He has highly developed senses and a quick intellect. After losing his brother in the war, Dirk was reassigned to escort life-long friend Velorna back to their home village.

Sheia Nar'auk: Increased strength and a telekinetic pull are abilities granted to D'kati of Ice. An expert knife-thrower, Sheia has spent countless days studying tactics and combat, in order that she may be ready in time to accompany Dirk when he returns to the front. Quiet, but fiercely loyal, the illusive exterior hides a warrior that knows no bounds for the rules of engagement.
