Dying for art

Is it a bad thing that I have a fascination with art created by artists who, for one reason or another, are dying or will, be it because of illness or anything else, be dead soon and know it?

There's something about the way the mind deals with that unspeakable fear and the way it can completely change the style of the artist that fascinates me in a disturbingly morbid fashion.

I've noticed the same thing, and it's interesting to see creative reactions to something terminal. In the classical realm, many composers were faced with their own mortality well enough in advance to write a musical answer to it. The late works of Schubert, Chopin, and Mahler are especially relevant here.
