Familia

Finally let my family know I have a great job opportunity this fall, and that it means moving out on my own.

The reaction I got was the complete opposite of what I expected. I was hoping they'd take it in a good way, but their response was less than stellar.

At least you didn't get mixed signals. My dad complains and complains about our entire existence and then when we moved out for college or something he'd burst into tears.

Bugs me to no end.

True. It's still a slippery slope to deal with.

Congrats on the job, by the way!

(Totally forgot to have manners.  Way to go, Tekulo)

You were just relating and that's fine! Thank you though. :)

They're probably worried given the whole upcoming-family thing. As long as it's a stable job, though, don't take their concern too hard (I'm in a similar place right now, and I know better than to listen to my parents' recommendations to live at home til I'm old and rich, haha).

Yeah, they're my parents and worried. I'm their baby etc etc. It'd be a good stable job, and I don't foresee moving if I move in there for at least a year.

I actually just got back from my tour of the apartment I'd be renting. It is still under construction and won't be finished until October, but everything looks nice and the community is great. Despite the somewhat racist remarks my mother made as we drove through the neighborhood area.

Now I just have all this paperwork to look at and consider.
