Fearless Animals

Back home a squirrel will run up a tree if you get within ten feet of it.

Today I QUITE LITERALLY fed a squirrel, OUT OF MY HAND. I mean, that crazy squirrel was bolder than the pigeons! I had to hold really still to get the pigeons to come close. But when the squirrel saw the peanut, it GRABBED IT OUT OF MY HAND. After it finished it was scratching at my leg for more!

I mean, it was behaving like a dog! o_O It looked like it was on its hind legs and "begging."

Very cute though. Never seen a squirrel that up close. And the way it eats the peanut is adorable...

... they were honey roasted. Unfortunately they got cold... big long story involving getting locked out of my room and the computer lab.

Speaking of which I spent an absurd amount of time on Maya today. I mean, I've gotten really into it! It's not like Photoshop, where it's just like drawing, it's almost like trying to solve a logic problem with getting all the lines connected right and selecting properly and figuring out techniques to adjust shapes... Remember that car design I posted on this blog? I'm putting that into Maya. No screenshot though, I didn't get it properly saved as a PNG (what the heck is an IFF file?) before I had to leave to get back to my dorm by curfew (Yes I was at the computer lab that late).

I'm gonna have to download the free trial or buy the student version of Maya or something... ask the teacher who runs the computer lab at my school, they have... I think it's called "educational" or whatever, but a watermarked student version of Maya on my school's computer lab computers. As well as CS2, but Columbia has CS3 which is crazy.

Mmm... still got a few peanuts left. If you ever go to New York, buy a bag of peanuts. It's only a buck. If they ask for two, say they're a ripoff, and other stalls sell for one. :P

I washed my hands vigorously afterwards, don't worry :P And it's not like it drew blood, it was just scratching a little. Probably could have pet it and it wouldn't have run away...

Yes, New York is a great city. ^^

Eh, maybe it's only 'cuz the squirrel lives on an institution of higher learning, where it's less likely that a friendly squirrel will have a shoe thrown at it or something...

It's not funny. They shot this guy last week. He's in the hospital or something.

Same thing happened to me at the Grand Canyon, this squirrel came up and took a bunch of Pringles from me, and then it was standing on two legs trying to grab more food from my dad :P

Yeah, it seems like the further you get into the city, the braver the animals get.
