My string snapped on my acoustic the other day, so I put on all new strings. You should always keep a spare set on you at all times. Also, you do know the 5th fret tuning technique, right?

Isn't that the string before, should sound like the string after on the 5th fret?

Yeah. Once or twice you gotta use a different fret, though. But it's a sure-fire way of tuning that's easy.
