Recent "news"
For all those reading this tiny two post blog, I'm sure none of you are thinking "gee ouch, I wish I could decide what new Lego sets to buy!" well I can (kinda) help.
Here are my recommendations on some of my more recent sets:
Tie Crawler:
Pros:
Rare tread pieces
New minifigs
Cons:
$50.00 USD
Few new pieces
It's mostly blue, when really Tie crawlers are light gray
I recommend it if you really want the treads or can't live without shadow stormtroopers
Dwarven mine:
Pros:
All new minifigs
lots of useful parts for mini Mocing (read: tons of cheese slopes)
New troll
Orcs!(or "small trolls" if you prefer)
winged helms (my Gondor tower guard is almost complete!)
plenty of weapons and other useful accessories
Cons:
I can't really understand how some of the mining functions work
$50.00 USD may set some people off
I highly recommend this set, it's got cool play features for the young 'uns, and unique minifigs and useful parts for us older folk (if the "08 sets are like this it will be a great year for castle)
Jaller Marhi
Pros:
Sweet looking mask
Nice sword
"Pet" that children (and others *cough cough me cough*) will like
Cordak are fun to shoot (don't loose them)
Great parts if you missed the Inika (like me
)
Cons:
$10.00USD is a bit steep for a "canister" set
no canister
If you think you want it, or are looking for something for a younger family member, pick it up
If you're not liking the toa Marhi, this set won't change your mind
and finally Matoro Marhi
Pros:
well... umm... he's white
He's got a unique look (however hunchback dosn't seem very "Ice" to me)
He's important to the story
he's got a cool semi-transparent mask that looks very "underwater"
Cons:
Awkward weapon placement
Cordak connected tubes hinder posability
has some color issues
$10.00 price tag is too much
Overall, don't bother unless you are determined to collect all of '07 or really like the white toa (like me)
seeing as this wasn't very funny, I can add a humorous quote
"Humans are not proud of their ancestors, and rarely invite them round to dinner."~Douglas Adams
