That's right. Karzahni is about to freeze over. It's...

How to Comic

Panneling

And I'm not talking about the stuff in your house. A panel gennerally refers to a box or some other shape that you put all of your sprites into. For example, panel 4 would refer to the fourth panel in a comic. I'm just going to run over some real common panneling types that will help you determine which one's the best for you!

Please note that these are examples, and you can deviate from them.

Type 1: 800X200 or 400X400

Fairly basic set up here. Four panels generally allows you to set up a joke with the fourth panel being the punchline. Problem is, sometimes you need more than four panels to set up a joke. Four panels also makes it hard for lengthy expositions and super power level over 9000 fight scenes, although it can be done.

Comics that use this format: Pretty much everybody, including myself.

Diagnosis: Simple and easy to use. Better suited for comedies than more serious comics.

Type 2: The 600X600

Interesting set up here. This format generally allows for a lengthy set up for a joke. This also alows for legnthy disposition and the super fight scences mentioned earlier. The main problem with this is, you're going to be producing five more panels per comics. That's more than a whole extra comic. But I would like to see this format used more. It has a bunch of potential.

Comics that use this format: Nobody that I know of. Drop me a PM if you use this format and I'll link to you.

Diagnosis: More work heavy format. Better suited for more serious comics then comedies. Something different, and that just may be the thing that makes or breaks you.

Type 3: The hybrid

Interesting type here. The thing is, you can remove or add panels as needed, which allows for a huge ammount of diversity. But the thing is you have to go in every time and mess with the paneling. The format allows for a mixture of both serious and and funny comics. Not really much to say really. Just an all around format.

Comics that use this format: Only one that comes to mind is Dark709's.

Diagnosis: Pretty decent format. Jack of all trades, although it exceeds at none.

So there you have it, the latest how to comic. Expect one on backgrounds next time.
