Updated Astronomy Awards. Six More!

That's right, so many other people have made their own awards, I finally decided to do so myself. If you deserve any of them, comment here to say which you are taking, and feel free to take them, but if you don't deserve them, don't take them; it's as simple as that. These awards are fashioned after the comm badges on Star Trek Voyager. I call them Astronomy Awards, and they are full of win.

red.png - Red - For having a blog.

green.png - Green - For having over 500 comments in your blog.

blue.png - Blue - For having over 1500 comments in your blog.

yellow.png - Yellow - For having over 1000 posts.

orange.png - Orange - For being a OBZPC or POBZPC (staff can only take this if they became OBZPC before becoming staff).

white.png - White - If I have approved your blog with my seal of approval.

black.png - Black - If you have approved my blog with your seal of approval. (Incentive for you to do so now maybe... ^_^)

darkgreen.png - Dark Green - If your blog has at any time been rated higher than 4.7 stars.

lightblue.png - Light Blue - If you've been featured in Blog of the Week (not counting Anniversary edition).

darkred.png - Dark Red - If you've been featured in my MOC of the Week.

lime.png - Lime - If you are (or ever have been) a BZP staff member.

purple.png - Purple - If you own a telescope.

jupiter.png - Great Red Spot - If you've ever spotted Jupiter in the night (or morning) sky.

saturn.png - Ring System - If you've ever spotted Saturn in the night (or morning) sky.

spacey.png - Space - If you love astronomy.

aurora.png - Aurora - If you've ever seen the Northern (or Southern) Lights (pictures don't count).

bronze.png - Bronze - If you have 7 Astronomy Awards (not including the Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards).

silver.png - Silver - If you know (and can PM me) the Greek name of the third brightest star in Orion.

gold.png - Gold - Unknown (to you at least). I'll PM it to you when you win it.

There are still more to come. I'd also like to know what you think of them. :D

What about for being on POBZPC at one time, but you aren't anymore?

White I think I can take. Black I would earn, but I don't use seals.

You need more actually having to do with astronomy or sci-fi.

Yes, you can take the POBZPC one, as I've got one for staff that'll be up soon.

White you can take, as your blog is full of awesomeness. To make it official... *runs off to Nukora's blog*

I've got at least six more that I'll add tomorrow, all of which are astronomy/sci-fi related. That was the main reason why I said that there would be more to come. The first batch is basically general BZPower, and the new batch will be more specifically astronomy.

You add a custom content block to your blog and title it "Awards" or something like that. You then put the images of the awards you have won into that block.

Red, green, yellow, my moderator-ship pre-dates proto energy, maybe White, dark green (and then people decided to torpedo it down to 4.3  ), light blue, purple was valid about 15 years ago, do you have one for Mars?

I could look up the name of the Orion star, but I'm just getting over seeing a nebula (or was it star dust?) near the belt in a telescope the other night. Seriously, for all the times I've looked at Orion, I had never seen that cloud around the top of the scabbard.

-KIE, not really keeping count.

I clarified the White and Black ones, so that there won't be any confusion as too their meaning, so I guess you wouldn't be able to take the White one. You might sometime though... :P Take all the ones you need (or deserve), and I'm thinking about adding one for Mars sometime soon.

The Orion Nebula is what you saw. It's one of the closest nebulas to the Earth (hence its brightness). In big enough scopes, you can even see color. It's funny that you should mention stardust, since that's all a nebula really is; dust and gas left over from a dead star.

Way off-topic here, but...

The Mars-asteroid collision has been dropped to 0.0% probability.

What's this I hear about a possible dead brown dwarf star now orbiting the sun towards the end of the solar hill sphere?

I heard a little bit about that too, but I'm not sure about all the details. I can't wait to hear more.

I see. Well, I can tell you that they are an awesome sight. Seeing the entire sky bathed in an emerald green or blood red is amazing, and seeing them pulsate and move is incredible.
