Thats Not My Department

So I work in Grocery at Walmart, mainly frozen foods. That is all I do, is grocery. That is all I know, is grocery (to a point, I am still learning).

One thing I don't get is when I am asked where things are, and they aren't even related to my department.

Like for example, I head to clock out for my break, and I am pulled aside for a question about gift registry. I am gonna be completely honest, I am a instock associate (which says so on my badge). What would I know about gift registry, especially when I parade myself around grocery?

Another thing. When I stock food, I am asked for something so small and simple that is obviously not in my department (such as toothpicks). Why can't people go to an area they think it would be in and ask there? I only stock food, not know where rugs are.

I heard you need to have some kind of written permission from your parents to work in places below sixteen.

It might be only for fifteen year-olds, though... muh.

What you speak of is a worker's permit. Allows underage (as in under 18) teens to work. Schools usually issue them when requested.

It depends on the state you live in and what type of job you want. In our state, if you are under the age of 16 you are required to have working papers for companies that don't pay under the table. Some exceptions to the laws have to do with family owned businesses and such and it gets complicated. Other than that most places just wont hire until you are 16. If you are younger than that, I might suggest working as a busboy at a restaurant that pays under the table. That was my first "real" job at 14 and the money is good.

I'd only work at Wal-Mart if I got a good employee discount. :P

But for now hanging out with cats for no payrate is good. :P

Also, this entry's title should become a movie title. XD

Yeah, I'm 15, and I'm a busboy at Chillies, and I absolutly HATE IT when people ask me "IZ MUH F00D DUN???" I've actually pretended to be "a polish guy (I'm 1/3 polish, so I can pull it off) who doesn't speak english" once. It works!
